Nature is no respecter of persons, my friends. Whether it be childhood friends, newlyweds, or one-night stands, a single decision or accident can change everything, and there will be three people instead of just two.

Congratulations! The characters in these threads and those who reply to them are now expecting babies, no matter what their unique situation may be. Of course, depending on the characters, this might go over like a lead balloon. But wait! Even if the decision to have a baby was made and was consensual, the process is no walk in the park. There is lots to do...and only nine months to do it. Nine potentially drama-filled months.

HOW TO PLAY

• Comment with your character, preferences, etc.
• Not all options here are fluffy and happy. Some are potentially angsty or possibly triggering. Tread lightly. Be sure to mention what you want and what you don't want.
• Reply to others.
• For this, male characters can get pregnant because why not.

PROMPTS

• How'd It Happen: What led up to this event? How are you in this situation?


• Realization: There's a wrench in the works...or maybe it was expected, but you're just realizing you're pregnant.


• Positive Reaction: Yes, after all this time and planning! You're finally ready for a family.


• Negative Reaction: Oh, no. This is terrible. You're in no position to take care of a child!


• Freak Outs: But...how? You're a human, she's an alien, how -


• Deciding What to Do: If this wasn't planned, there needs to be a plan of action now.


• Keep it Secret: You're attempting to keep your pregnancy a secret from your partner. This is only a bandaid for the bigger problem.


• Telling Others: The other people in you two's life have to know at some point.


• Drama: No one wanted you to have a kid and the anger is palpable.


• Morning Sickness and More: Everything hurts and the mornings are hell.


• Learning: If you're in a technologically advanced society, you may get to see an ultrasound. Otherwise, there are folk remedies that can be tried.


• Manipulation: One of you is using the prospect of a child to bend the other to their will and make them stay.


• My Body is a Cage: The person carrying the baby is having a decent amount of discomfort, mentally and physically.


• Showing: It's a secret no longer with an expanding stomach.


• Support: The partner who isn't carrying the child should do their best to be there and help out...


• Overprotective: ...but to a degree. Don't act like the partner carrying the child is made of paper.


• Getting Ready: The house or apartment or castle has to be babyproof.


• Heart to Heart: It's time to talk about the big changes before the happen. Where do the two of you stand?


• It's Happening: THE BABY IS COMING.


• Rough Going: Childbirth is still a dangerous affair and there's no smooth sailing for you. So pace if you're lucky, scream in the bed if you're not.


• Bad End: Not all new beginnings last. Sometimes, they become unhappy endings.


• Coming Home: Finally, parents and baby get to settle down.


• Getting Used to This: Well, maybe settle down. There's still crying in the night, feedings to do, diapers to change...

[ Of course Dabi had managed to follow him to the one safe house that Hawks had chosen to hide away something...very special. He hadn't talked to the other in a while and they hadn't done much other than mission things in even longer. So Hawks had figured the other had lost interest, which was good for him.

Good for the kid too.

That's right. Kid. A small boy with brilliant white hair, matching wings, and sharp golden eyes like Hawks. The white hair was...odd. It made Hawks wonder things, like if Dabi's hair was really black or if it was some other color. He had never considered that could have been a thing. Dabi was always just....Dabi. Nothing else mattered. But now with their child in his life, Hawks had to wonder.

When everything had happened Hawks was confused, of course he was. He's a man after all, how could he have a kid? Apparently quirks don't care about your gender. Good to know for the future. The point is he had never once planned on telling Dabi about the kid, hell the Commission didn't even know. And for a good reason. There was no way in hell he was letting them ruin another child's life. His son was going to keep his name, he was going to get to be a normal kid with no training and no forced lessons on what it was to be a hero. If he wanted to be a hero when he got older that was different...but for now...for now his little one didn't need to know anything about all that. Or the villains that made up the world of his other father.

So when Dabi showed up at the safe house door Hawks blocked him bodily from entering. It had been a few months since the two had actually been in the same place alone together that wasn't about 'work' and Hawks had wanted it to stay that way. Obviously Dabi had other thoughts. Great. ]

What are you doing here? I didn't get anything about any missions...

[ The League is getting restless. Hell, Dabi is getting restless too. Bringing Hawks in as an ally was a risky thing to do, but Dabi had told them all it would bring them good returns. They could get what they needed and be done with him. It just kinda had to be an ongoing thing.

He knows that ongoing good returns never meant fucking, but hey. He has needs too, and why not have a little fun with the birdie if he could? They're all just using each other, after all.

Of course Dabi should have been fine with it being a one time thing, but then it became a two time thing and a three.... before Hawks started getting short with him and then no longer met up on hot, boring nights just to get shit out of their system. Not only that, but Hawks has been withdrawing his time with the League as well, and that is completely unacceptable. Both things are, according to Dabi, which is why he's paying a special visit to the bird tonight. ]

You wouldn't know about any missions, ya barely show up. Boss sent me to check up on ya. This ain't a game, birdbrain. Gotta show up when we tell ya to.

I have a phone. You could have just texted me to meet you somewhere. I've been busy keeping the Commission off my tail feathers.

[ Shifting he crosses his arms, still standing so that Dabi has to force his way in if he really wants in.

All he can hope is that the kid stays asleep while the other man is there. The last thing he needed was for Dabi to hear a small baby crying in his hide out and start asking questions. He can't know, Dabi can never know. ]

Tell the Boss I'm fine, just busy.

[ Dabi is all blank faced until Hawks takes up a more intensely permanent stance, and then it has him getting curious. He's not the brightest when it comes to a lot of things, he gets that, but he's good at reading people.

Raising an eyebrow, he takes a step closer, moving into Hawks' personal space just a little more threateningly. ]

Last time I texted you to meet somewhere ya weaseled your way out of it.

[ He reaches out this time, sliding a hot finger along Hawks' jaw. ]

What's wrong, birdie? Can't handle bein' in the same room as me anymore?

[ It's hard to stand his ground when Dabi has that look about him but Hawks manages. ]

The last time you texted you just wanted to fuck, I'm talking about business.

[ When that warm hand comes in contact with his skin Hawks has to fight the urge to lean into it. He was weak for the warmth that Dabi put off and he was sure the man knew it. His eyes flutter a moment before he's snapping back and leaning away slightly to get away from Dabi's touch. ]

It's better if we stopped that...it could get in the way of things.

[ He didn't want little Fushi to grow up with a villain for a father..it was bad enough he'd h ave to be hidden away from the Commission for so long....he'd probably grow up hating heroes already. Who knew. Only time would tell. ]

Doesn't fuckin' matter what it's for. When I call, you come. That's how this shit works. You wanna prove yourself? You do what I say.

[It's as simple as that, as far as Dabi is concerned. If Hawks doesn't want to fuck, then fine. He doesn't need this shit anyway and he sure as hell isn't going to chase after some hero scum.

But then Hawks leans into his touch like a moth to a flame, and Dabi knows he's lying. That flutter of his eyes has Dabi just about growling, and wanting nothing more than to push his way inside. ]

You've been avoidin' everything, not just me. Tell me what the fuck's goin' on, hero. Tell me, or I'll burn your whole place down.

[ he lifts his hand to hawk' face, palm up, letting a blue flame burst out. ]

[ The flame in his face has Hawks falter back before gold eyes go hard and closed off. ]

You don't own me, I'm not at your beck and call.

[ Behind him his wings flare out and feathers hover over his shoulders like small knives ready to pierce into the other. His voice is low and dangerous, he can't be too loud. Not only does he not want to draw attention to them from anyone nearby....he really doesn't want to wake the baby.

He just got him to sleep damn it. ]

You'd draw too much attention to yourself burning this place down. Just leave it alone Dabi.

Yes, you are. That's part'a the deal in workin' with the League, hero. Not that you're much good to us now anyways. And hey, if ya don't even wanna fuck anymore, even less use to ya.

[ Dabi narrows his eyes, smirk on his face. ]

Maybe I like the attention. All you gotta do is talk. No? Okay, then. We're done.

[ Dabi takes a step back and lets both of his hand go up in hot blue flames, aiming for both Hawks and the safehouse. Really doesn't make a difference to him if this is all over and done with. It's not as if Hawks has even been around to supply them with much over the last few months. He's gone almost silent, so he might as well be dead. ]

[ Seeing how ready Dabi really was to burn him and the place to a crisp Hawks' feathers move instead to guard him before he calls out. ]

Wait! Stop! I have a reason alright! Just--

[ And of course he raises his voice enough that...he ends up being the one to wake the baby. He's interupted by a loud crying that has his attention turning instinctively towards the inside of the apartment. ]

Just...put that away...please.

[ When he looks back at Dabi he still has that serious edge to him but it's lighter...softer? And there's a definite fear in his eyes now. Fear of what though? Fear of Dabi knowing about Fushi? Fear that the man was so ready to burn the place down? All of it?

While he tries to talk Dabi down from burning the place and him in it a mass of feathers leave his wings and disappear into the apartment, going to try and settle the child, amuse him enough or comfort him enough to get him to stop crying. ]

[ He lists his arms higher, ready to burst out an explosion of flames before Hawks tells him to stop. He doesn't care, though. He's got it in his head now, to roast this bird and burn the house down with it. All up until he hears a baby crying from inside the house.

What the fuck?

Dabi can see the fear in Hawks' eyes and instead of relishing in it like he usually does, he puts his flames out, eyes slightly wide at this new revelation. There's a baby in there. ]

Move.

[ Dabi says, but before Hawks can even react, he pushes past him, taking advantage of the other man's stunned state. He follows the cries to one of the rooms and goes inside, looking down at it. A baby. ]

What the fuck?
