On the surface, it's just like our modern world. TV, spray tans, toddler pageants and iPhones. But under that seethes the world's best-kept secret: magic. Vampires, werewolves, demons and ghosts. And the Slayer -- one girl in each generation Chosen to fight the demons of the night.

WHO ARE YOU?
1 - SLAYER. You're the girl herself. The Chosen One who fights evil, for the safety of all humankind.
2 - WATCHER. Keepers of wisdom, and guardians and protectors of the Slayers and potential Slayers.
3 - HUMAN. Ignorant bystander? Or are you in on the secret?
4 - WITCH. You're skilled in the ways of magic. Maybe drifted into it through Wicca, maybe raised to sorcery or necromancy.
5 - A VAMPIRE. You're a creature of the night. Vulnerable to sunlight, fire, beheading and stakes, burned by holy water and crosses. You drink blood. Oh, yeah: and you have no soul. Evil is your business, though a vestige of your mortal personality might remain.
6 - A WEREWOLF. Turned into a wolf the three days around the full moon, burned by silver. Or maybe you've learned to control your animalistic side, and found a way to turn at will.
7 - GOD. All-powerful, and looking for humans to enslave.
8 - OTHER.

WHAT'S HAPPENING?
1 - THE APOCALYPSE. It's the end of the world. Are you destroying it or saving it?
2 - NEW KID IN TOWN. You just rolled into town. Looking for trouble? Well, too bad; looks like trouble's finding you anyway.
3 - HUNTING. Looking for prey? Or are you looking for the predators?
4 - CAPTURE. One of you is locked up. Vampire in a cage? Human ready to become food? Werewolf snatched by animal control?
5 - SHOWDOWN. Time to fight the big bad.
6 - THE COVER STORY. You're involved in something magical, and you have to explain it to the rest of the world.
7 - DAILY LIFE. Everyday life. Going to high school, the supermarket, video marathon. Even the small things can be magical.
8 - OTHER.

[They meet when she's out hunting. Alice isn't the Slayer but she'd make an excellent body double for one with the way she can slam in a stake. It's the height that really draws them in. She could pass for twelve until the stake's out and then they see how high the little girl can reach.

But she's still not the Slayer. Which means the odds are slanted towards the vampires here and not getting lower as quickly as Alice would like. She could run, but when the red mist falls over her eyes her sense of caution tends to fall as well.]

[Compared to an average human Carter is a snarling, terrifying ball of fur and fangs. Compared to the average werewolf, Carter is that dog from Up.

He's out on his usual run in the German woods, tongue dangling from his jaws. Skinchanging runs in the family and Carter caught it at a young age, so by now he's used to keeping a lid on the more violent tendencies. At times he's even quite useful to the cause, if the moon coincides with a mission, but this month he gets to take himself for a walk.

Is that a girl? That smells like a girl. He will go investigate this girl!]

[ Werewolf accused of murder? Nothing new. She is actually innocent of the crime. She is just cooling her heels in a jail cell hopeful that she can find some way to make bail.

She doesn't think it's going to happen though. She isn't rich and she has heard they think they have enough to bring this to trial. She wants to balk at how unfair it is as she knows it wasn't her but no one is listening to her. ]

[a long time ago, perhaps the winter would've made him sentimental, but archie finds that it's a little difficult to remember how that was. only to express approximations of what that had been based on the veritable wealth of film he's watched. it's almost a tragedy, except for the part that he only cares because he knows he's good enough to pull it off and because he knows that he looks good when he does it.

2/6 - Battle of the Musical Episodes?

[There was something a little off about the last performance at The Bronze.

Well. Off in the sense that the entire audience spent the performance in a hypnotized trance. There were a few fits and starts, moments when the crowd seemed to recover their senses and the redhead fumbled to pick up his focus again so he could reclaim their minds. His spells still aren't perfected. It's why he's had to practice on the idiots here before he moves on to the big time.

And now said performer is arguing with a food truck.]

Five bucks? It's a hot dog, not a steak!

[The vendor is about to offer a retort when the young man's lips move. It only takes a single breath's worth of song to convince him that artists get free hot dogs in Sunnydale, and Billy walks away whistling.]

He wants to be a rock star and the best way to do that is to make sure his voice is absolutely irresistible. For now he's testing himself out in local clubs and bars in between studying for class and studying his far more important textbooks.]

[Peter, on the other hand, is a dark power. Kind of. He's half snake demon on his father's side, and reasonably proud of being a half-breed even if, well, his father wasn't.

But even half-breeds know about the Slayer, so he comes into this town prepared to lay low, or get away from her if need be. Unfortunately, he wasn't expecting some random demon-hunting gang to zero in on him. And he'd been wearing his mask and being so personable, too. He'd even made an attempt at normal human posture!

So, at the end of the alley out behind one of Billy's clubs, after a gig, there seem to be a group of possible-thugs arguing about a "snake" and how one of them "told you we needed these cages, didn't I tell you we needed better fucking cages?" That's a fairly large cage they're trying to get in the back of their truck, though, and there seems to be a person in it.]

To place her in training.

But it was still against her wishes. Her desires. And she really didn't know what to do. And was just waiting for the 'Watcher' to decide what direction her life would now take.

[ He may be a human, but he's not as stupid as thinking vampires and werewolves didn't exist. His sister had been killed by a vampire (only to turn into one herself), but she didn't seem to remember him anymore. Toki wasn't sure if the same happened to all vampires, or if something had gone wrong, but from then on, he had sworn to get his revenge.

And now he had found him. The one who had taken his sister, the only one who ever treated him nicely, from him, was right there, right in front of him, and he was going to kill him.

Only things hadn't gone as planned, and now he was caught by the very same vampire who was his only reason for living. He stared at the vampire, eyes blazing with rage. ]
