Minoru nodded. He let her move freely and make herself comfortable.

He picked up on the subtle distaste in her voice, but didn't know the exact origin behind it. He had many supernatural abilities - both in and out of Sage Mode - but mind reading was never one of them.

"Within reason." he insisted, hoping to ease her concerns. "It's a give and take. All chakra comes from somewhere. Healing takes just as much natural energy as it does your own."

Given enough time and training along the path he walked, a Sage could indeed become a true master over life and death. Minoru was still young, relatively speaking, and still learning. He had a tremendous well of chakra, but it was not bottomless. And some things, like bringing people back from the dead, had far too steep a cost to attempt.

"Well, sure it does. Laws of energy conversion and all. Nothing comes out of nowhere and nothing vanishes into nothingness." Not that you can necessarily trace both ends of the equation, but they are there.

And with the right instruments, you can.

"All right, we should probably look for other survivors." For better or worse, she can't be the only one. "What are you doing here, by the way? I don't think I saw you around before all of this started."

He nodded, following her lead when she stood up.

“Before what started? I’m afraid I just got here.” He admitted with a shrug. “Only been in your world for, gosh, I don’t think even an hour yet. Just enough time to hear the explosions and come running.”

"...Just got here from where?"

Considering that this is a kind of remote location. Very remote location. Location that should be inaccessible to most people, really. ...Which begs the question: How did he access it? And did he access it voluntarily? Can he reproduce that access method?

"And... where to even start. From what I understand, there was an incursion of some sort and at the same time there were some major malfunctions. I would not be surprised if those two were coincidental. Sabotage or something..." She keeps it intentionally vague, but some information, she feels, is perfectly fine to supply. "The explosions were mostly things going wrong, from what I understand."

Minoru tugged up his sleeve, revealing a tribal snake tattoo. It was actually a complicated seal imbued with certain supernatural properties, as well as a binding contract with the snakes that he referred to as his masters.

“From Ryuuchi Cave.” He smiled, knowing full well it might be a useless answer without more context. Some worlds knew about other dimensions and sacred spaces, some had no idea other planes even existed. “The Great Snake Lord Elders opened a portal for me.”

He took in her answer as well.

“Okay, that’s not good...”

"So if I understand that correctly it was not your power that brought you here, and you could not return there by your own power, but they could send someone new any time or return you to where they are any time, too?"

That's not particularly great to know. It means that that kind of dimensional bullshit will be a lot harder to curb than if this guy was first-hand directly involved in producing it.

...not that that is her most pressing issue right now. Maybe.

"Would it be possible that whatever happened here came with you? All kinds of things use existing portals to travel where they should not..."

“Okay, not exactly...” Minoru often liked to keep an ace up his sleeve in case something went south. But Ariana had already seen his Sage Mode, so this wasn’t too much information compared to that. He held up his tattooed wrist again. “I can go back whenever I want. But I need their help to go anywhere else.”

Minoru owed that ability, not to his teachers, but to his brother Isamu - who reverse engineered the summoning seal and overlaid it with one of his own. Minoru couldn’t even begin to fathom the kind of things Isamu and a lot of the rest of his clan were capable of, sometimes. He’d Inherited the fire breathing, but that was about it.

As to whether he was followed, or that someone else from Ryuuchi Cave was responsible for the destruction she’d been caught up in, Minoru sincerely hoped that wasn’t the case.

“I mean, it’s possible. But I think we’d have seen a giant snake by now...”

When Minoru referenced the Great Snake Lord Elders, he meant that literally. Human students were actually a rarity there. Most humans who attempt to learn that power and take it for themselves do not survive the first lesson.

"...actual giant snakes?" No, she can't fully believe that right away. Surely he refers to something different - maybe some illusion, or machinery? Yes, machinery sounds likely.

Nobody should be able to deviate from reality enough to cause a snake to grow that far. And why would they even bring it? Snakes aren't that sturdy, even if they had a giant pet snake or... whatever. It'd just be one giant target.

As for if all of that was caused by someone from wherever this guy was from? She'll most definitely keep a close eye on that. And write a thorough report later.

"That kind of mess couldn't have been caused by one of the little ones." he scratched his head. Meaning, yes, there are absolutely giant serpents - something commonplace enough Minoru wouldn't even think twice about it.

While he believed the Great Snake Lord Elders were intelligent, rational and even honorable creatures, he also knew what they were capable of if angered. They were proud beings, definitely not to be disrespected.
