The man gave a dark chuckle at Squirt's comment, but made no other move to speak, instead kneeling down beside him to get a better look at how badly hurt he was. All right, he wasn't about to die, and seemed to be using some small amount of healing ability as well. Right then. The Slayer nodded, then pulled a handful of vials with some sort of glowing blue potion in them out of... somewhere, handing them to Squirt. The health boosts wouldn't heal much, but it would be enough for what came next.
Standing once more, he swapped the shotgun out for... that is a really, REALLY big gun. A big fucking gun that let out an ominous whine as it wound up, then let loose a massive wad of crackling green energy straight at the gigantic heart.
It did the trick. The heart gushed blood as it collapsed, and the entire structure they were standing in screamed and began to tremble.

Squirt damn well knew a healing potion when he saw one though, and was quick to grab it, mumbling out another thanks before going to swallow down the contents as quick as he could drink it. Hopefully it'd be enough to get him on his feet and running. ... Especially considering what the fuck just happened next.
He dropped the vial just in time to clamp his hands over his ears as that gun primed up, bracing as the BFG discharged. The sheer force of the blast was enough to shake him near back down to his knees, propped up once again by his sword. No need to ask questions about what to do now, that much was obvious by the shaking of the now dying structure. Time to go.
"Right then! Up an' out, aye?" Even though his blade felt like it was made of lead as he clasped it back onto his hip, even though his shield seemed like it might break his back as he sit it into it's fastenings again.

But that was neither here nor there, and he'd only give a sharp nod before turning to move, shotgun once again in hand.
And of course, he reached down with one massive arm to scoop Squirt right up as he went, already figuring that it'd be faster for the one of them with longer legs to be doing the movement work. Something that only seemed driven home when he actually began to run, and run at a speed that Squirt likely hadn't seen mortal man achieve before short of magical assistance.
...His grip was actually quite gentle, however - he seemed to already know where the worst wounds lay, and was careful not to jostle them.

Sure there was some pain, yes, but the yelp he gave was less from that, and more due to sheer bewildered surprise, immediately latching onto the arm that held him as the armored giant just absolutely booked it towards the exit, at a pace that seemed more fit for a well trained chocobo rather than, you know... a large hyurian man in full plate mail.
Oh. Okay then. Guess he was along for this ride, you wouldn't hear him complaining about this. Not when he wasn't entirely sure if he'd have been able to make it out on his own two legs.

As they neared the exit, his head tilted as if listening to something, and he nodded again and took a sharp turn. Ahead of them, a glimmering blue portal opened seemingly out of nowhere, and he appeared to be heading straight for it with no hesitation.

Granted by the time he wrestled his pistol out, the giant had managed to shred them, leaving naught but blood and tattered flesh behind. Or voidsent chunks. Whichever came first. The bile that hit the back of Squirt's throat wasn't from the gore, no. Rather just the rapid pace they'd hit, the jumping, the swinging and the constant jostling, was what made his stomach try to climb out his mouth at least twice.
And right as he could see the exit, his ride took a sudden turn towards... Decidedly not the exit. Portal? Where? Why? What is going on fucking hell-
"Whatsat?!" Look not much time for anything more complicated.

The Slayer took a few casual steps forward before setting Squirt down gently, then ambled towards the controls. As he did so, a synthesized voice came on from the surroundings themselves.
"Greetings, Warrior of Light. Welcome to the Fortress of Doom. I am VEGA, aide to the Slayer. My apologies for the abrupt transfer - rest assured, we will return you to Eorzea, and tend your wounds as well. This was both the fastest way out of the hell nest, and the easiest way to introduce ourselves. I'm sure you've noticed that my companion is a man of few words."
Meanwhile, the Slayer just grunted, jabbing at one of the monitors.
"Or perhaps no words is more accurate."
