[To say that Cassian is distracted for the duration of dinner is an understatement. Jyn finally rolls her eyes and tells him to just go already, and he beams as he stands and presses a kiss to her forehead before he makes an escape.

About an hour and ten minutes after the initial text, Cassian is knocking at Ben's door.]

[Ben answers the door and smiles. His hair is pulled back and he's got his glasses on and he's wearing his usual dark sweater and jeans.

He reaches out and tugs Cassian in before kissing him as he shuts the door]

Hey.

[Cassian breathes a sigh of relief once the door opens and Ben comes into sight - looking gorgeous as per usual. The sigh quickly shifts into a breathy chuckle as he's pulled inside and greeted with a kiss.]

Hi.

[He smiles and nuzzles his neck, putting his hands on the man's hips.]

You smell good.

[There's no such thing as personal space when they're together, and Cassian is more than okay with that. Everything just feels better when Ben is near, and truth be told, Cassian needs the comfort of contact just as much.

So he welcomes the nuzzle, the feel of Ben's hands spanning his hips.]

So do you.

[He laughed and pressed a kiss to his pulse before licking it.]

How's Jyn? Is she still seeing Bodhi?

[They had been cautious about introducing one another to their friend's circle.]

[Cassian hummed softly as he curled an arm loosely around Ben, just wanting to keep close until they eventually moved someplace more comfortable.]

Frazzled. Her students are giving her hell, too. She'll be fine, though, undoubtedly she'll give it right back.

She is, yes. He's really coming out of his shell with her. It's ... nice. I'm happy for them.

[Ben tugs them back to the couch and sits with Cassian, snuggling against his side.]

I'm glad for them. She seems happy.

[He had a pile of papers on his coffee table from his tutoring he had been going through. There was a chunk of it done, and a chunk to finish.]

[Cassian huffs out a chuckle, but easily follows in Ben's path, sitting with a sigh while simultaneously encouraging the snuggling, the being close and sharing space, reconnecting even though this time, it hasn't been that long since they've seen each other last.]

She is, and I'm happy for her, too.

[He glances at Ben's papers and grimaces - if only because his own pile of completed papers isn't nearly as impressive. If only summer break wasn't so far away - weeks and weeks worth of time to do as they please.]

She looks forward to meeting you properly.

[Ben tilted his head up and then pressed a kiss to the underside of Cassian's jaw. He knew Jyn understood that Ben was not getting a boost in his grade because he was dating Cassian. And that she understood the need for discretion as many would not see it that way.

Summer break...

What would they do?

Ben would have one more year for his Master's, but no classes with Kenobi.]

And I look forward to meeting her properly as well.

[Jyn had known Cassian long enough to know that he wasn't that guy, would never take advantage of his position just to get a student into bed. What he felt for Ben was real and true, and Cassian was grateful that his best friend above all others understood and supported it.

He hadn't yet sat and thought about all the possibilities that would come along with summer break, but Cassian hoped that he and Ben would be able to enjoy as many moments together as they possibly could.

And then - Ben would only have a year left. A year seemed like both a lifetime and not all that long in the grand scheme of things all at once, and Cassian hoped they'd be able to make it through mostly unscathed.]

I want you two to like each other. You're the most important people in my life.

How did you two meet?

[Ben remained resting against Cassian. He took his hand and laced their fingers together, a small smile on his face. These moments... He wanted more of them. Always]

I don't think you ever told me.

[Cassian chuckled, squeezing their joined hands gently, a reminder that he was there and wasn't planning on going anywhere anytime soon.]

Kay's D&D group, if you can believe it. She was a brand-new exchange student, I worked in Student Services.

She insisted that she didn't need any help, but she did. I just happened to make it seem like she was calling the shots when it came to asking for it so she continued thinking that it was her idea.

We've been pretty inseperable ever since.

[Best friends, nothing more. They'd tried having a relationship and it just hadn't worked out.]

[He laughed and smiled at at that.]

Seems like her, from what I know. And Kay? Does he know about me? Or that you're just madly in love with someone?

[Ben kissed his jaw again, smiling softly.]

It is very Jyn, [Cassian replied, smile amused, voice fond.] And Kay - yes, he knows about you. I can't keep secrets from him, I've tried.

[Cassian cleared his throat then, offering another reassuring squeeze of fingers.] He's a natural pessimist, so of course he thinks that I'm playing with fire.

But he supports us in his own way.

[ooc: They're being so cute. I'm dying]

Because he wants you happy over his pessimism?

[Ben understood. He knew they were playing with fire. But there was no boost in Ben's grade in Kenobi's class at all. He had worked his ass off for what he had, the abysmal C (seriously it was dragging down his whole GPA), but he knew why people would shout favoritism if they found out he and Cassian were together.

Kenobi's class was notoriously hard.]

[ooc: SO SOFT.]

Mmhm. Precisely that. [Cassian lifted their hands to his lips, pressed a soft kiss to the back of Ben's hand, quiet for a moment as he relished in Ben's familiar weight and warmth, the comfort it brought just to sit on the couch quietly together.

Of course he was still scared of the repercussions he'd face if they were caught, but damn if this wasn't worth the risk. If given the choice to give up Ben or his scholarships, the career he'd been working so hard for ...

He'd choose Ben. He would always choose Ben.

A love like this didn't always come around in a lifetime.]

He doesn't do relationships, you know? But he cares about my happiness, and you make me very, very happy.

[ooc: Let them me soft! And gentle!]

[Ben kissed his jaw again before pulling away. He vanished back into his bedroom for a moment before returning to the couch. He sat next to Cassian once more and set a small box in his lap.

He wasn't intending anything with the gift. He had seen it and thought of Cassian and just.... It seemed to call to him.]

I want to always make you happy Cassian.

[ooc: AND HAPPY]

[Cassian felt Ben's loss deeply. But he knew that it wouldn't last very long - the gravity surrounding them was too strong, no matter how far apart they were, they'd always come back into orbit.

And Ben returned, little box in hand. At first, Cassian didn't open it, at first, he held it in his palm and focused his attention on Ben - kissing him and thanking him all in the same breath.

He didn't want to assume anything and Ben hadn't said anything. In any case, it was a gift, and Cassian more than appreciated the sweet gesture. He opened the box, his smile only growing wider to see the ring in person rather than via text]

It's beautiful. And - you do make me happy. I only hope I'm able to do the same for you.
