Everyone has something they wish for. If we didn't have desires, we wouldn't have hearts. Sometimes we want mundane things: a turkey sandwich sounds pretty good right about now. And sometimes we want impossible things: if only I could make her love me.

Perhaps you've gone on an expedition and returned with some rusty old lamp. [If she's going to play the doctor card, he's going to call her by what he'd call her if she were his doctor, though the slightly upwards twist of his lips and the teasing note in his voice are unmistakable.]

Because perhaps doing something for you is more important to me than making superficial gestures that won't actually speed my recovery.

[That's the part she really doesn't understand. But, recognizing his stubbornness, Ami drifts back into the room to sit down. Compromise. If she seems a bit huffy... well, she's not always a gracious loser these days.

[She wonders, at times like this, how she fell into such a domestic routine. She doesn't mind it. For all that so much of her life these past years has been about battle, she hasn't stopped being the lonely girl who wanted a family nearby.]

Forget the bath. Let's just stay like this awhile. [Though she softens as she says it, a bit of the tension finally starting to leave her body. Perhaps she'll forget about the scare of this evening after all.]
