ROLES
1) The General/Admiral: You're the head honcho, the guy in charge. You have hundreds, maybe thousands of lives resting on you. What decision will you make?

2) The Officer: Not the leader, but you've got responsibility for your crew. What's your specialty -- independent initiative? Insubordination? Or do you let the noncoms walk all over you?

3) The Soldier: Just an ordinary soldier with your pike, or rifle, or energy gun. Your job is to follow orders. But when it comes down to it, when you look the enemy in the eye -- what will you do?

4) Spy: Dressed in civilian clothes, disguised as an enemy officer. Your job is to get as much information as you can, and then get out. Or are you going to sow a little chaos and destruction along the way?

5) Civilian: This is your land that's being fought over. Do you support a side? Do you hide, or do you hold steady in the face of such violence?

6) Other.

SCENARIOS
1) Battle: In the middle of the fighting.

2) Downtime/R&R: A few peaceful moments, to spend as you will.

3) Sabotage: Something's gone terribly wrong. A factory blown up, a bridge destroyed, an assassination. What do you do about it?

4) Planning: How do you go about storming that beach?

5) Capture/Rescue: The enemy soldiers have you surrounded. Or maybe you're on a daring mission to break your buddies out of jail.

6) Other.

TIME PERIOD
1) Ancient times: Grab that centurion's helmet, form up into a phalanx, and let's go crush those Gauls and/or Persians!

2) Medieval times: Suit up in your armor, grab a lance and make sure to bring along your squire.

3) Revolutionary times: Basic guns and muskets, very little medical care, and very little tactics. Give the other army a few days to dig in, and they'll hold you off forever.

4) World War I/II: Technology is advancing, and warfare is more sophisticated than ever. Remember the trenches, the skirmishes in cities, the spies and the drama.

5) Modern times: Guerilla warfare, modern tactics, modern technology.

6) The future: Ray guns? Space battles? Let your imagination go wild.

7) Other.

Future possibilities are also on the table, nonspecific as my enthusiasm is for that one. [ his canon is more medieval than anything, but i'm willing to AU. in canon, rodrik is either next in line to be lord for a minor house that fights under the command of a major house/lord, or has already ascended to lordship despite his physical disability (watch him fight in a war with a really bad leg all the same, though!). in more modern AUs i can have him be the eldest son of a military family or we can discuss other possibilities.

rodrik is known to be a brilliant strategist as well as a good fighter. he's kindhearted, but firm and a touch strict, and upholds honour to a great deal. ]

after the game, somewhere, at some point?? i'll roll with the punches!!

[ it's a good thing that he doesn't hold grudges--well, not ones that matter, anyway. he's still looking for the bastard that cheated him out of his coin a few nights earlier, playing cards in the tavern, but that's a different matter entirely.

in a battle like this, he's not one to mince words or even put any sort of blame onto his brother who, for all intents and purposes, is a blameless cog in the wheel of his family's machine. it's not rodrik's fault for his banishment. it's not rodrik's fault for being a stubborn cripple. it's not rodrik's fault for being the head of the house and therefore the best currency to kidnap during a battle that's run so far into the night, most of their troops are resting wearily back at camp.

it's not like asher to just sit still and let something happen. and maybe it's foolish to take a few warriors and try to infiltrate--no, it's definitely foolish--but he's not going to let his brother waste away in some wretched tent in the middle of the night when they could just take him back and end the whole damn thing then and there.

he's wiping the blood off one of his knives, crouched just outside the back of the tented prison they've made for the great rodrik forrester, nodding faintly to beskha before he elbows up the back of the fabric and sinks inside, crouched and quiet as though to listen for any other mischief. gratefully, they've knocked out two of the guards and killed another--so nobody is running for any backup just yet.

with a faint smirk, asher pushes himself up onto his feet and rubs a hand at the back of his neck, trying to roll out his shoulders. ]

You're bleeding, [She says gently as the two of them sit in the back of the covered Jeep with the few patients they've managed to escape with. Night's fallen, but when she squints out the back, she can see the fire still burning. At least it doesn't smell like death and skin burning.

She tries to not think about what they've just escaped, and the fact she's one of the few that managed to get out. Sybil doesn't know if he targeted her specifically with Easy Company leaving, but she's grateful. Some people already knew who she was, what she was in the life before the war, but she doesn't want special treatment. All she's ever wanted was to do her part, make sure the men that are fighting come back home.

It's hard to think how many are back there now, but what she can focus is the injury on his head. She tears at her apron since they have no supplies now, offering it to him as a bandage. What little does her dress mean now? There's no propriety and very little humanity out here now.]

[ it's a strange thing to be so abstracted from his own universe, vasiliy thinks to himself as he fumbles in the breast pocket of his parka for the second cigarette of the hour. most of the american GIs are taller than him, and they seem utterly oblivious to the kind of deference this experience has made him aware that he expects. not from his colleagues, of course. but certainly from the rest of the red army, and from the central committee, and from civilians.

he speaks english better than most of the others in the small group of operatives the soviet union tossed in the general direction of bastogne, but he still only catches about half of what the paratroopers are saying at any given time (and about none of what their doctor's saying, seeing as all of roe's syllables blend together in one string of guttural sounds he can't even begin to parse). so he figures, when his cigarette lighter falters in the icy air, that it wouldn't hurt to attempt establishing a degree of camaraderie, and that he should probably be the one to do it (that was, more or less, his task when he sat down with internal enemies of the state, after all, and he's not attempting to verbally coax any names out of these people).

with an unlit cigarette hanging between two gloved fingers, vasiliy trudges in the general direction of command's sandbagged lean-to, none too thrilled about the cold seeping into the bones in his feet from the new shell of hard snow encrusting the toes of his combat boots. ]

[ vasiliy's heard what the men have said about the war prisoners at normandy, of course. the wary respect with which they address their new captain is familiar; perhaps it is for that reason that he seems a particularly good target — a particularly good audience for a subtle assertion of equality, the kind of discreet reference one deliberately phrases in such a way that it cannot be seen as substantive if brought up. he's gotten good at this game. ]
