[ He moves closer, sword at the ready. He knows not to be deceived by the lack of a weapon. He's heard whispers as well, tales woven of a man more beast than human despite his appearance. Link doesn't possess courage because he underestimates his opponents. To meet Ganon here, when there's so much more strength to gain, isn't the best of luck. ]

Her and the rest. It's over.

[The smile cuts a little wider.]

[It is over... but perhaps slowly. With relish. Ganondorf gathers his magicks slowly, a haze like the heat of the desert distorting the edges of the black of his armor, the red of his hair. He seems almost insubstantial, just a figment. And then.

Black lightning, power in its rawest form, explodes with precision from a casual fingertip. The darling pink light that hovers around Link makes a sharp sound as it crumples to the stone floor; bells have never sounded so sad. Ganondorf wets his lips as the strike whets his appetite. The creature probably isn't dead. He won't deny himself tearing her wings off as Link is forced to watch. He plans for what is needed...

Though the fey thing that the young man has become-- his mannerisms the gliding, silky motions of the Kokiri, his body the willowy slim strength of a Hylian-- these beg a difference punishment. Lips and appetite aside, Ganondorf's mouth fills with saliva.]

I let the old man cry himself to death, [he offers, a consolation for the fairy.] Rauru? He wasn't screaming when he met his end.

[ His shout confirms Ganon's suspicion that the fairy is a good source of torture for the Hylian. His guard drops. Link is known for his prowess on the field, even as a child. However, while bravery stems from the Triforce, it also comes from a heart that envelopes those he protect. To hear Navi's cry of pain tears at his heart.

Keeping the sword out of its sheathed, he drops to his knees to inspect the tiny body. Alive. He can feel relieve flood his body. Perhaps she'll need to be healed, but he'll do so as soon as Ganon is defeated. ]

[ He stands. ]

[So much raw potential, so untrained and unguarded. Does Link not realize that just stooping to check on the fairie has left him so open? A drawn sword is only as ready as the hand that holds it... perhaps, Ganondorf thinks, he should put his magicks aside for this. Perhaps he should show the still green young man what true swordsmanship is. How experience is wielded. Golden eyes are intent on the whip of a figure as it stands and Ganondorf smiles at the challenge.

He steps softly in his heavy boots and his walk begins a circle around Link, looking for an opening. The broadsword that is pulled free from the scabbard on his back is not elegant, enhanced weapon that his opponent holds, but it a tool that he can use to get effect. The blade is long and honed to a wicked edge. It is well-cared for.]

Power is the beginning of everything, [he says, his voice patient, as if the explanation he offers is to a student instead of an adversary.] The smallest bud of a plant in bloom, the heat of a fire forging a blade [he nods at the gleaming metal in Link's hand] the physical reactions of a body in decay. Without power there is nothing.

It is your duty, I suppose, to try. [Behind closed lips his tongue trailed against the back of his teeth.] But it will not end well. Come to me.

[ Ganon isn't completely wrong, but power for its own sake is useless. Power without compassion, power used to hurt and torment might as well fade into nothingness

They're destined to link swords. He swings first, his movements swift and confident. He can't lose to Ganon now, even if this encounter happened sooner than it was meant to happen. They're two foes, both gifted, but one of them is young and budding, and the other experienced. ]
