Because of the texting picture prompt posted on wednesday, earlier than regularly slated, the regular picture prompt meme is going to be taken down given that it's only top comments right now.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I know there are a lot of changes and trial runs happening but I find it problematic that the meme posted on the right day gets deleted in favor of the prematurely posted one since that seems to be sending the wrong signal. People have been posting smut and shipping picture prompt memes earlier and earlier with impunity. This just tells me that the schedule is merely a suggestion and can be circumvented as long a enough people play on a meme no matter whether it's off schedule or not.

To delete memes that are posted early regardless of how many threads are active on them, or not?
If others want to jump in with an opinion, please do.
ETA: I know I'm not the best at getting memes down quickly since I'm unable to access a computer/bakerstreet when they first go up.
ETA: if anon wanted - feel free to take this to the problems/concerns post.

I'd say, if it's the same day, then delete the one not scheduled. If it was a day before/after, it's on the players in the comm to catch it and report it, since you guys can't be everywhere at once. And in this particular instance, I might have PM'd the poster of the cycle-breaking meme and told them that they needed to check with the schedule and that this was their warning and if it happened again, their account would be banned. (or something similar)
I get not wanting to punish players, but it gets confusing as a poster to know what goes up when if someone's going to break the cycle and their meme stays up and the legit one gets deleted. If it's not caught on the same day, then I'd say talk to the poster and remind them in private if you guys feel there's too many threads/too many replies to delete the meme. But it's the inconsistency that peeves people.

i would advise leaving both memes up and removing the posting access for the journal that posted a meme off-schedule, since the issue is that they broke a posting-specific rule. don't punish the people playing on the meme: address the issue exclusively w the person who broke the rule.

The posting schedule is not overly complicated or so long that people lose track of what is posted when, and it's in the rules post as well as a separate sticky post right at the top of the comm. Of course the mod team isn't always around. Since this is a community, I don't think it's too much to ask that players pay attention to where they choose to post. If they choose to TL on an early meme, they risk having their thread deleted. Again it's right there in the rules post.
I understand that the mods are reluctant to delete memes that have active threads. Would this be a feasible compromise? At the very least don't delete the meme that was posted on schedule, notify the meme poster that they're out of turn, and make a post that the mod team is leaving the meme up for the benefit of the players.

It might be time that we start banning meme posters that do not follow the schedule. Most memes aren't on schedule and it shouldn't be too hard to know which ones are. Breaking the rules could be intentional.
I also understant that part of the confusion probably stems from the undecided fate of all the separate gen and shipping and smut texting/picture prompt memes. It's not particularly easy to solve because everyone has going points both for and against (combining some of them, for example).
Deleting memes that have only top levels is to me a lesser evil that deleting active threads.

It seems increasingly clear that not having a guideline is confusing a lot of the people who weren't privy to the talks surrounding the prompt memes, which took place over several separate discussion posts. Right now, the only official word on the sticky post is that the prompt memes are on Thursday, so of course some people probably look at the shipping prompt meme and think it's posted out of order, or they don't realise the texting promp meme 'counts' as one of the typically prose-oriented prompt memes, etcetera.
