The night descends, and you find yourself alone. Everything about the situation is horror movie code for "you're dead". There might be one way out... one person you can rely on to work your way out of the situation.

Of course, they might just be the person who wants to kill you.

1. abandoned area: Wherever you are, the place is rotting and dying in front of your eyes. Old steel rusts and cobwebs dangle from every surface. It smells like mould and dust, and it's so easy to believe there are ghosts and skeletons around every corner.

2. all hallows eve: A halloween party can be a fantastic evening of fun frights and too many drinks. Or it can be a disaster, where the horrors are far more authentic and the blood on your friends' costumes isn't from the costume shop.

3. always night: Why are you out in the dead of night? Don't you know that's when the boogeyman comes out? ... What do you mean it's midday... the sky couldn't be blacker.

4. the calls are coming from inside the house: If you're home, you can't be harmed, right? The alarm would have sounded if someone broke a window... So why are there footsteps and creepy breathing coming from the kitchen?

5. camp unsafe isn't safe anymore: So you decided to spend an innocent summer at camp... You should have chosen one with a less ominous name.

6. don't go in the woods: ... Seriously? Why would you go there?

7. hell hotel: Oh, no, I'm sure that run down hotel on a hill where there are rumours of disappearances is completely safe.

8.indian burial ground: Or any burial ground. Graveyards and their dead trees are the safest places to spend a cold, gloomy night.

9. new house new problems: So you've just moved into a lovely new house! Fantastic! But did they tell you about the murderer who just escaped from prison?

10. anything else: If there's something you really want to do -- kidnapping, torture, mad scientists in their laboratory -- use this option!

[Women standing at the window, voices whispering from the front door in the dead of night, cold chills if you stepped too close — all the hallmarks of a haunted house. At least, those were the stories. Mostly told around the neighborhood by friends looking to scare their peers or siblings, children being the "target audience"...sometimes they'd run up to the old, worn down house and ring the bell before running away. There was also a game they would play; walk upon the creaky porch, open the door, and stand with your back to the entrance for two minutes, five minutes, depends on the bravery of the individual or the jerkishess of the friend initiating the dare.

The record was three minutes.

Sal had his doubts. Naturally, a two story house with large bay windows, billowy curtains, a creaky porch and a mysterious (and varied, depending on who you ask) history was bound to turn into the local legend. Old and worn down didn't always equal haunted. But, this is what he does. His passion. So naturally, he had to check out the town's most 'haunted' residence. So here they were, Sal armed to the teeth with whatever equipment he could carry; namely his Super Gear Boy and his Necrolight guitar, just in case there were any violent spirits.

One foot on the porch and he felt the boards give way with a loud groan, enough that he was worried he would fall right through despite his extremely light physique. He reaches up to hold on to the banister and takes the last step. Another loud creak. He turns to glance at Ace over his shoulder, seemingly indifferent thanks to the mask but eyes clearly going a bit wide.]

Uh, the real danger might be the house collapsing on us and not a ghost.

[It would probably be smart for the town to section this place off, really. It's a safety hazard. Maybe he'll bring it up to someone at the town hall once they're done with the investigation. Safety first.]

Is...

a bouncy ball.

To be more specific, hell is the rhythmic thumping of a bouncy ball against the floor, then the wall, then the floor again, then back to the palm of a hand. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, thunk, thunk, thunk, catch. Thunk, thunk, thunk, catch.

Hell is one rather spindly looking man sitting with his back to one wall, bouncing a ball off the floor into the opposite wall, letting it bounce back again, then catching it.

There are doors to his left and his right. There are doors parallel to those doors. There are doors stretching out in either direction for what seems like miles, one long hallway that never ends, stretching infinitely in either direction. There is also a singular elevator with a pleasant light and a soft ding that goes off when the doors open. Then the doors close, then you punch in your floor number, then you step out after another soft ding and it's the same floor you got on at.

Hell is a bouncy ball, and it has been for nearly two hours. ]
