Valentine's Day is here, and you know what that means. If you don't have a sweetheart with which to spend the day, now's the time to get up on that bidness. That is, the bidding business. The business of bidding on... uh, budding romance? Look, just cough up some cash so you don't have to go it solo on the fourteenth. It's dangerous to go alone! Take this.

1) Characters can either auction themselves or their friends can have signed them up for the auction.
2) Please put the character's name and canon in the toplevel subject line.
3) Make sure to include a starting price, a time/date for the end of your character's bidding period, and any preferences in the body of the comment!
4) Bidders may choose to be anonymous in their subject line or whatever.

[ Ienzo followed his friends to this ridiculous auction, not expecting to bother with anything other than the free food and ice cream that was promised to him once they were done "entertaining" themselves.

But, the moment he sees a robot who has it's own heart and soul? That bidding paddle he'd been using to fan himself couldn't go up high or fast enough. ]

[ Wait, why can't he double the price? He'd thought it was strange he only had 9,999 when they arrived in this world, so perhaps it has something to do with the particular mechanics. Whatever, saves the rest of his Munny this way at least. ]

...She covers her mouth and shouts "FIVE DOLLARS" in a deep voice. She points to a random area of the crowd.]

[If she were going to cheat, why did she stay so low...?]

[She sits back down.

[Elphelt puffs out her cheeks and stomps the floor. The stage makes an audible cracking sound as boards break.]

So apparently the date's all paid for and everything and you get to pick the place off this list.

[Jaune hands her a paper that has a variety of places listed.]

[Oh, maybe she should've bid more. But she wanted to encourage a bidding war, so it's not like she could make it too overwhelming.]

I'm sorry that happened to you, but I hope I can make up for it a little!

[He's actually pretty cute, aww. Haru examines the list.]

Hmm...perhaps something light...how do you feel about Charcuterie?

It's alright! I'm sure we'll have a good time wherever you want to go.

[He seemed to remember something after a moment.]

Oh by the way my name's Jaune Arc, what's your name?

[Jaune tilted his head in confusion at her question. There was a temptation to pretend he knew, but he thought better of it.]

Char- what now? Never heard that word before.

[He looked a little embarrassed about that.]

Haru Okumura. Pleased to meet you.

[She even does a little bow.]

It's okay! Charcuterie is basically a sampling of meat and cheese on a wooden board. Does that sound like something you would like?

[Oh wow she's way classier than him. Jaune finds himself reflexively straightening his posture. He doesn't want to come across as a slob at the very least.]

I won't say no to food. Besides it's the company that's the most important, right?

[It didn't sound like anything that would be too outside of his tastes.]

Though uh am I under-dressed?

[He didn't want to embarrass Haru at all.]

That's right! Food is so much better with good company.

[It's good he has the right idea! Haru gives him a good look when he asks his question, though.]

I don't think so? If you're nervous I can reserve a private room.

[And she whips out her phone to do just that, dialing away.]

You don't have to go to that trouble for me as long as you're not bothered.

[Really the main thing he cared about was not ruining this date for Haru.]

Well, why not try it? The worst that could happen is--oh--hello, is this Le Fromage Charcuterie? I was wondering if you had any private rooms available...No, I was planning to walk in tonight. [Beep. Haru's beaming.]

It's a good thing I called! They're preparing a room for us shortly. Shall we go?

[There might be some mental flailing going on though Jaune mostly stays still. The most he does is fidget a bit in place. At least Haru seemed happy.]

You uh you really didn't need to treat me or anything.

[He really didn't want to think of how much money she was spending on this.]

I just- You know what never mind. If you want to chat privately that's fine by me.

[Jaune gave an awkward, but genuine smile.]

It's no trouble. Isn't it important for you to be comfortable?

[Indeed, it seems like to her this is nothing. Not putting her out at all.]

[She smiles back and starts walking, turning toward him to make sure he's following.]

Would you like to talk on the way? I'd like to know more about you.

[At first Jaune follows behind her, but when she looks back and asks to talk he picks up his pace to walk beside her. His smile is a lot more at ease now.]

It'd be a pretty boring date if we were quiet all the time.

[He looked like he was thinking for a moment.]

Well I don't know what you would find interesting about me, but I'm going to go to University to become a nurse.

[Jaune rubs the back of his neck nervously.]

I know most guys in medicine are doctors, but I want to work more closely with patients. Make sure it's not all anxiety and grim faces for them. If that makes sense?

[Her face lights up.]

That's so noble! There's never anything wrong with helping people. I'm glad you're following your heart.

[Yeah, she looks completely sincere.]

I'm about to enter University too, for business. I'd like to open my own café someday.

[She didn't feel like talking about Okumura Foods right now.]

[He smiles cheerfully as Haru gave her support.]

Thanks. You wouldn't believe how many people don't get why a guy would want to be a nurse. Everyone in my class is nice about it though.

[Her sincerity really endeared Haru to him and he listened to what she had to say.]

I'm sure you can do it. You definitely need to tell me when you open it up so I can try some of the food there.

[He's genuinely being supportive in turn.]

So I guess that means you really like food and cooking?

I'm sorry people don't understand. At least you have a good class! That can really help.

[It's sad, but people will judge no matter what they choose to do. As long as he has support Jaune can overcome it.]

[Jaune is really endearing himself to her, too! He seems so nice!]

I do, though I still have a lot to learn. I wouldn't call my cooking or coffee brewing restaurant-worthy just yet. I do love to garden, and would like to grow my own produce for my customers. It's my one true talent.

I know a little bit about cooking, but it's my roommate Ren who knows the most out of any of us.

[He smiles warmly as she mentioned her own hobbies.]

I'm sure you're more talented than you think you are, but being able to make a really healthy garden really is a talent! Maybe you can show me pictures of yours once we can sit down?

[Walking with their phones out right now probably wasn't the best idea. Jaune grasped for another topic.]

Thank you! It's not much, I still need to install the hydroponic system to grow leafy greens but I know I have some pictures of tomatoes!

[At the mention of a roommate, Haru perks up with interest. It becomes clear why in a moment.]

No, I'm an only child. And I've never had roommates before, it sounds like fun! What's it like?

If you ever need an extra set of hands to set any of that up let me know. I really don't know anything about gardening but I can at least follow instructions.

[He figures it wouldn't hurt to do some heavy-lifting for Haru either though he knows plenty of strong women to know better than to assume she was weaker than him.]

It's never boring at least. One of my other roommates, Nora, is pretty excitable. I'm used to that kind of thing though. I actually grew up with seven sisters.

[Seeing they were at the place Jaune stepped forward to open the door for Haru. It just seemed like the polite thing to do on a date.]

Really? Perhaps I will, then!

[How could she refuse a helping hand and extra company? It would be nice to have someone around while she figured this new system out.

[The host leads them to a room in the back. The restaurant already looks pretty fancy, with nice wooden tables everywhere, decked out like little picnics scattered with fine food. The white tablecloths are artfully askew, and almost every table has a bottle of wine. Couples sit here and there, quietly murmuring to each other between bites.

The private room is cordoned off from the regular dining area, but if anything it's roomier. The entire back wall opens out to the garden in the back, providing a nice breeze and view.]

What a lovely place! I'm so glad we secured the room.
