[I think that would be wonderful. If you want Alfred falling head over for her, I can definitely swing it. Same with mutual first sighting. I've no problems with her being whatever age you wish so age gaps are aokay.

[That does sound great. I'm for all of it. Seeing as he's often playing errand boy for Bruce or guarding the kiddo, he'd be easy to chance encounter. And yeah, they're both shady as hell in their pasts. But no one would know it, looking at them.

You can certainly start and honestly Gotham is happy it's Mystique. She's classy and has better taste than the Rogues Gallery.]

The problem with being Bruce Wayne's guardian and butler was that it was very hard to get the boy gifts for the holidays. What do you buy the young man that could literally buy and sell half this city twice over. But Alfred does try. He tries to find things that Bruce might enjoy. The boy is really into old detective books right now, which is the reason why he in this upscale little bookshop.

The mysteries are towards the back and he is making his way back when he spots her. The young lady is certainly eye catching. She's a spot of golden light, her hair haloing her in the drab of the store. She's gorgeous. Alfred knows he's likely staring, but it's hard not to. He's certain that this young lady must get passes made at her all the time. It seems silly to even attempt it himself, but he can at least be better than some slack-jawed boy.

Quietly, he makes his way back to her to stand next to her in his fine suit. "Which one were you wanting, miss. I'll take it down for you." His accent is a lower class British, but his manners are impeccable.

His brain short circuits again. Certainly, there is no end to the number of attractive young women in Gothem, but she's utterly captivating. He wants to see her smile. Wants to hear her laugh. It's rediculous. He's too old for such school yard fixations on a stranger, but here he is.

"Homer... Too right..." Focus, Pennyworth. Stop gaping at the pretty girl and grab her book before she realizes he's a right git. It's still an awkward moment before he reaches and pulls down the heavy tome to hand to her.

"There you go, Miss. All your ancient Greeks all in one place." He gives her a shy smile. "I'm sure it would have been a million ships for you tho." He cringes right after he says it. He hadn't meant to so openly compliment her. A lovely girl like her must be exhausted by having to fend off such unwanted attention from strangers.

"Anyway... it's all your. I hope you have a pleasant day, miss." He's going to hurry to the back to the mysteries and quietly berate himself. He's better than some hard up sod hitting on some poor girl. He should apologize but that would mean talking to her again and putting his foot even further in his mouth.

He feels like a coward. He's seen and done unforgivable things. He's faced enemies during war and fought assassins to a standstill. He can look a psychopath in the face and not flinch, and here he is tucking tail to scamper off because he's afraid he'll insult a lovely young lady.

Aflred freezes when she gives her name. Her laughter still dances in his ear and makes his heart beat a little faster. She's giving him a gift. It's Mana from the heavens, handed to him by the merciful hands of the golden goddess that stands before him.

He seizes it. He takes that gift and holds it tight to him. Redemption. And a chance to talk more with her. It's all he could ask for. But it also tells him something. She's a new addition to this terrible city. He's under no illusions that he's not one of the most recognizable people in the city. The stoic, ever present bulter to one of the richest teenagers on the planet.

"Miss Darkholme." He wants to say her first name. Feel it on his tongue. It's too improper and he's already been rude enough. "Alfred Pennyworth, miss. And I am. I've got someone what's very hard to shop for and I was hoping something here might do the ticket. Do you know much about mysteries? That's what the lad's into these days.

She's warm sunlight at his side. He finds himself wondering if her skin is as warm and soft as it looks. It's a fleeting thought, stamped down hard. He can't start fantasizing about a stranger, even if her smiles and her laugh makes his heart ache for her.

"We have first edition Doyle at home." It's not bragging. It's the truth. "The lad loves them." He watches her finger skin spines of books and listens to her. Let's her voice wrap about him. He reaches for what she recommends, the two books sitting heavy in the crook of an arm.

"Me?" He seems unused to it, the idea of anyone caring to ask about him and his likes. "I'm afraid I don't really have much in the way of time to be reading. If I do, it's mostly vehicle manuals and cook books these days." Does he miss having free time? Maybe. But he wouldn't trade it for anything.

"I swear by Child." His copies of Mastering the Art of French Cooking and The Joy of Cooking are very well worn. "But when I was the lad's age, I was head over for Verne and Wells."
