As soon as she'd bought the dress, she'd found a hiding place for it, one she's hoping Kenzie never thought to snoop in.  It's not that she doesn't trust her, exactly, just that she doesn't trust her not to get excited and give into temptation as far as opening up the garment bag is concerned.  

Compared to a lot of brides, she hasn't exactly had to agonize over the months and months until the big day--it doesn't really take that long to ask a couple people over for a backyard ceremony and plan the vacation that comes after it--but it's still an exciting thing to finally be able to bring the bag down from the attic and lock herself in a bathroom with every bit of makeup and hair product in the house.  First, all the makeup, obviously, rather than risk getting concealer all over the front of the gown while she's trying to cover up her scars.  Then her hair, styling it into an artfully messy bun at the nape of her neck and settling a white rose into it, plucked fresh from the garden an hour ago.  And then staring at herself in the mirror, looking for something else she might be able to fix.  It feels like a whirlwind inside her chest, nerves and excitement swirling  up together until she can hardly breathe.

But she looks pretty nice, considering the fact that she did her face and hair herself.  (Every website she looked at warned that you should never, ever do your own hair for your wedding, but paying someone else to seems silly when there's maybe five people besides Kenzie who're going to see it.)  And all she's in right now is her underwear and stocking feet, the dress waiting behind her.  It'll be better once she's actually clothed.

"Almost done!" she calls, once somebody gets impatient and knocks on the door, just as she's zipping it up.  So it's now or never, the same thing it always comes down to: you do it, or you don't, and one of those isn't actually an option.  Taking a deep breath, Beth smooths the overlay down and lifts the skirt so she can pad over to the door.  "Ready?"

Because if Kenzie isn't, it won't be nearly as fun.  (Beth's kind of dying of curiosity to know what Kenzie's wearing, too.  Part of the reason she hid her dress so furtively is because she knows how tempted she'd be if she had to decide whether or not to peek at Kenzie's outfit early.)  She opens the door, her smile brimming with hope--Of course she's going to like it, you know that, Yeah, but still--as she lets Kenzie get a look at her, and looks at Kenzie in turn.  

Beth's all done up in a lacy, sleeveless gown with a neckline that plunges a little more than she'd originally planned for when she went shopping.  (Look, it made her chest look really good.)  The skirt skims along her body rather than exploding into tulle like somebody's prom dress--she'd bought it with an eye for fitting into the truck once they're ready to go to the bed and breakfast for their wedding night--though a small train pools behind her.  And, the thing Kenzie might not notice unless she glances into the mirror or reaches for Beth...it's backless, scooping down to the small of her back and clinging to the slight swell of her hips and ass.
