the affectionate physical contact meme

you love spending time with your significant other. but sometimes, just "spending time" with him/her isn't enough. you need to have your hands on each other every now and then.

➝ post your character below, with your character's name and series in the subject.

➝ tag other people, using an rng with range 1-8 to roll a scenario.

➝ roll as many times as you want, play out whatever you want

one; hugging. you just want to give your loved one a warm embrace. be it out of happiness, to comfort them while they're down, or just to give them something warm to latch onto, you just want to wrap your arms around them.

two; kissing.
whether it's a peck on the cheek or a deep kiss, a kiss good-bye or a romantic kiss, you find yourself compelled to kiss the other person! be as tender or as passionate as you so choose.

three; holding hands.
it's a simple gesture, really -- to reach out and take someone's hand. but that one simple gesture can convey any number of sentiments. what the sentiment is, is up to you, but you find yourself reaching out to take your significant other's hand.

four; carrying.
is your loved one hurt and needs a lift? do they want a piggyback ride? or do you just want to spare them the effort of walking? whatever the reason, you're now itching to pick up your partner and carry them to their destination.

five; i love you.
you've said it before or maybe you haven't but now you have to say it again or for the first time.

six; dancing.
kick up the music, because it's time to dance! but no lone dancing allowed -- you need to have a partner! you can do whatever dance strikes your fancy. personally, i recommend the slow dance, but you can do whatever you want!

seven; massaging.
did your significant other have a rough day? did they get hurt? or do you just feel like doing something really nice for them? whatever it is, you're giving them a nice massage now. they'll feel wonderful in no time!

eight; flirting.
the easiest way to break the ice or maybe you're just an overly flirty person.

nine; cuddling.
sometimes there's just no better feeling than curling up next to each other on a warm sofa. hold each other, lie next to each other, fall asleep on each other -- it's all good here.

ten; wild card!
reroll, pick an option, or come up with something else!

Things had been hectic, even after the events that had broken up the team. Not that Bucky had ever been involved with that, but he knew he was a lot of the cause for it. Sometimes he wished he could go back and try to fix things. He'd even considered giving Stark a call, but he was pretty sure that would have ended just as badly as it had the first go around. Still, what was left of the team kept fighting, kept going where they were needed to take care of people and save lives.

Bucky'd been left behind though. Not that it wasn't his choice. He didn't think getting out there was a good idea until he'd been given a clean bill from Shuri and her team. He smiled a bit though, knowing Steve was coming to see him and he was going to do his best to make this a good visit. He'd cleaned up, even deciding to get off the farm for the day and actually take care of the apartment in Wakanda that the two of them were supposed to be sharing. He felt better than he had in a long time. So when Steve finally got back he would find a clean apartment, music playing from the sound system flowing through the apartment with the smells of delicious food wafting around too.

He came out of the kitchen, smiling before moving across the room to the other man. "Welcome home, honey." He teased, his smile growing wider before he pulled Steve into a hug. "Decided you deserved a romantic evening. Complete with food, maybe a little dancing...but first. Sit." He pointed to the couch, moving to settle behind Steve as he started rubbing at his shoulder. "This is just a start."

The fact that the team had broken up was something that weighed heavily on Steve; it dogged his steps, and followed him through every hour of every day. But one thing he never did was blame Bucky; he viewed it all as something that happened because of missteps that he took, of decisions that he made that weren't ultimately in the best interests of anyone but himself. "Selfishness" was a word that came up often, when Steve thought about it. But now that the team was fractured, there wasn't anything to be done about it. Steve couldn't go back and fix it, and for the most part, he believed that he'd done what was right for him, at least as far as refusing to sign the Accords went.

That complicated situation concerning himself, Bucky, and Tony was another matter, but the damage was done, and since he couldn't turn back time, there was little he could do there. That didn't mean it didn't eat at him, but he was learning to accept that there were some things he just couldn't change. What he could change was the fact that there were still innocent people being threatened and put in danger, so that was how he spent the majority of his time: going out there, being Captain America, and helping save lives.

What kept Steve going was the knowledge that Bucky was safe in Wakanda, getting the help he needed, and that he could come visit him whenever time allowed. And as luck would have it, time was on his side tonight. It had been a long day, and although Steve was extremely physically fit, that didn't mean he didn't get sore sometimes. A car had been dropped on him earlier that day, followed by some falling pieces of rubble from a partially collapsed building. His back and shoulders were sore, but he didn't want to let on about it to anyone, least of all Bucky.

Coming back to their shared apartment was always the highlight of his day, and now was no exception. Before he even opened the door, he could smell food cooking and hear the strains of music playing in the background. "Thanks, it's good to be home." He let Bucky pull him into the hug, because it was good to have someone there to greet him when he got home. "Not just an ordinary evening, but a romantic one? What did I do to deserve this?" He was teasing, but a smile was lighting up his face and eyes.

Then Bucky was telling him to sit down, and he happily obliged. "You have this all planned out, don't you?" In so many ways, he was really lucky for having a friend like Bucky.

He loved that smile and he gave a little shrug as he settled in, still rubbing his shoulders and the back of his neck. "You don't have to do anything to deserve it, Steve. You always deserve it, you know? You always do all the taking care of, the rescuing. Sometimes its okay to accept being taken care of." Just like he'd done back in the day. It was something that once he'd remembered, he'd actually sorely missed, but Steve hadn't needed that from him anymore. So this? Well, it was nice and he couldn't stop himself as he leaned into Steve's back a bit as he kept massaging. "You got into something today. I can feel it right...here." He pressed at a particularly hard knot he found, knuckles digging in as he tried to work it out.

"Might be better if I get you to lay down. Bet you're just full of knots." He hummed, forehead pressing between his shoulderblades and he closed his eyes. "And yeah, I've got it planned out. I wanna take care of you. I miss taking care of you." He admitted quietly, fingers working down his spine slowly. "Then when you're feeling like it we can lay down. Got a couple of movies queued up from your list if you wanted to do that instead."

Steve opened his mouth to try and respond, but he closed it again when he realized he didn't know how to respond to that. That was his role, and in a lot of ways, it was his identity. He looked out for people, tried to protect them. Sometimes he didn't manage to succeed, but that was just the way the world worked. He didn't like that there were casualties and losses, but there were also lives that were saved. But that wasn't really the point right now; the point was that Bucky was right. He just wasn't so good at accepting people's help.

"You know I'm bad at that," was his response. But he didn't protest as Bucky started in on massaging him. "Yeah, I got into something all right. A really big something in the shape of a car." It wasn't the first time, but it never really got easier. "This feels great, Buck. Thanks."

He felt the knots of tension working themselves out beneath Bucky's hands, and as they did, he found himself gradually beginning to relax. "If you're not careful, I might fall asleep right here." They both knew sleep didn't always come easily to either of them, but Bucky's ministrations felt so good that Steve knew it wouldn't take much to get him to drift off. "I don't want to, by the way. I want to enjoy everything you have planned. Can't do that if I'm asleep."

"Course I know you're bad at it. Always have been, even when it was me taking care of you." He said pointedly, smiling and chuckling. "I still remember this one time...you had the flu I think. I can't remember exactly, but you were sick and you still woke up early one day to make me breakfast. Last of the eggs we had and pretty sure last of the meat too. I was so mad at you for getting out of bed. You were shaky and you looked ready to collapse, but you were still determined. Think I scooped you up and put you back in bed after that..." He squinted a bit, obviously trying to remember.

He didn't let up though, his fingers moving further down just for a moment before rubbing back up. "How about we go ahead and eat and then you can decide what you want from me afterwards, huh? More massage, movie, whatever you want." He said, squeezing his shoulders gently before nudging him to get up. "I know you were always the better cook out of us, but I kind of had Shuri's help? Just so everything would at least cook right and taste good. Its nothing special." He said, leading the way into the kitchen as he opened the fridge. "What do you wanna drink? Water, beer, soda?"

Steve chuckled, because he thought he was the mother hen type in the equation, but then there's times when Bucky's turned the tables on him and taken on that role. Most of the time, it was back when he was that skinny kid who got beat up in alleys and always had some kind of flu or cold. Part of him kind of resented the coddling back then, but he'd come to realize it was just an indicator of how much Bucky cared about him.

"You always were great at taking care of me. Didn't you ever get sick of it? I mean, you could've been doing anything, but instead, you stuck with me and got me back on my feet." If that wasn't friendship, then Steve didn't know what was. "I really wanted to pay you back. That's why I did that. Was it the best decision at the time? Not really, but you deserved something in return, even if it was just breakfast."

Steve smiled at those memories; even though he was unwell a lot of the time, he and Bucky found ways to be happy.

"Sounds good. What's on the menu?" He stood up and followed his friend into the kitchen. "I'll take a beer, I guess." Normally, he wouldn't, but this qualified as a special occasion.

"No I didn't. I never got sick of taking care of you, Stevie..." He murmured softly, ducking his head a bit before shaking himself as he grabbed two beers. He popped them both open, setting them on the table before he went to the oven. After a few minutes he pulled out a small pan of lasagna and another of garlic bread. "Extra meat. We both need the extra protein with our metabolisms." He smiled a bit sheepishly as he laid everything out. "And I...I didn't care about doing anything else, Steve. No one...nothing was more important to me. You were my best friend and the..." He trailed off, swallowing a bit. It was always a little hard for him to admit things. Especially after everything. He never really understood that he was allowed to feel now.

"You're the love of my life." He admitted softly, shrugging a shoulder as he finished putting everything down on the table, turning to pull a few more things out of the fridge for them. "Okay so I didn't make this, but Shuri thought it would be funny to make us an apple pie." He showed it before putting it in the oven to warm. "Even got ice cream with it."

"That-" Steve felt something catch in his throat, so he cleared it and tried again. "That means a lot to me, Buck." Bucky was always the popular one, the one the girls fawned over, but when it came to him, he was always there, not afraid to drop everything to make sure he was okay. "It smells amazing. I can't remember the last time I smelled anything this good. And if that's just how it smells, then the taste has to be off the charts."

He fell silent as Bucky started to talk, thinking to himself for not the first time how much he liked the sound of his friend's voice. It was as reassuring now as it was back then.

And just then, hearing those words from Bucky, Steve knew what he had to say, and he meant every word of it. "You're the most important person to me, Bucky. No one else even comes close." Not even the other Avengers, the ones Steve felt obligated to look after and keep safe to the best of his abilities. "You're- Well, you're everything to me, and then some."

And then his attention was distracted by the sight of that pie. "No way. A real apple pie? And ice cream?" Now he was looking at Bucky like he was the best thing that ever happened to him, besides being the love of his life. He was, and nothing would ever change that, but the fact that he'd thought of everything possible to make this night great made Steve feel like the world's luckiest man.

No one else would think to come up with a pie and ice cream. "You're the best, you know that?"

"I just wanted tonight to be special." He said after setting everything up. He hesitated a moment before leaning in to Steve, tipping his head up and then back so he could press their lips together. It was soft and brief, but still there. Then he sat, motioning for Steve to help himself. "You first. And like I said, the pie was more Shuri than me. I teased and said that you were more American than apple pie and apparently now she thinks we must all love apple pie the best. Though...well, you DO actually like it the best." He said before laughing and shaking his head.

He leaned on his arm, watching Steve and shaking his head. "So, after dinner how about you take a shower because I know how much it helps you relax. Then, you decide what we do. I just know I'm ending the night with giving you the best massage you ever had, pal."

"Just being here with you is special. I mean, this is incredible, but just having you around is more than enough for me," Steve said seconds before Bucky pressed his lips against his. He smiled as he always did whenever Bucky was nearby or when he gave him one of those kisses. Then he stood up, grabbed a plate, and piled on a decent size helping of food. "Well, what can I say? I'm Captain America."

He chuckled as he sat back down. "I'll take a shower, but- it would be a lot better if you joined me." There was a time when he'd have been too embarrassed to make that suggestion, but aside from the slightest hint of a red tinge on his neck, Steve gave no sign that his words did anything but make him grin. "A movie sounds good. I can't remember the last time I got to watch one all the way through."
irememberedhim: (Default)

[personal profile] irememberedhim 2018-08-19 01:50 am (UTC)(link)

He grabbed his own plate, filling it as well as he seemed to pretend to think about the request. "Hmm, taking a shower with my hot best friend slash boyfriend?" He raised an eyebrow before laughing again. "No. Man, you're asking too much. Its just too much of a hardship." He faked dramatically before rolling his eyes, his smile splitting his face and making his eyes sparkle for a moment. "Of course I'll join you. Punk." He said, pecking his cheek before he started in on the food. "So movie it is then. Gonna make you sprawl out on the pull out in the living room so I can really get at your back. Not enough to make you sleep though. I'll work on it though."

He brushed his fingers through his hair, chuckling at even that slight amount of blushing. God he loved that he could still have that kind of effect on him. Though once again he knew he missed when those reactions were a bit more extreme. When Steve would stutter and stammer through his requests, or just make hand motions while turning bright red. It had been adorable.

"Oh, is that what we are? I had no idea." It was half a tease, half a truth. Steve didn't really like labels all that much. They were just words, after all, and words had meanings that were subject to change. "But if you're sure, I guess I don't have a choice." He shoved a forkful of food into his mouth just then to hide his grin.

But that was before he caught sight of Bucky's smile, and those eyes that sparkled. Something inside him leaped up in response to that; he always loved the other man's smile, but of all people, Bucky had the least amount of reasons to smile. "Jerk." The word was said fondly, though, and Steve's eyes crinkled up as he gave a smile of his own.

"Sounds like a plan. The massage alone would be great." He still felt some residual stiffness after the day's events, and he found himself really looking forward to the rest of the evening.

He couldn't help rolling his eyes at the other, shaking his head a bit before reaching over and squeezing his hand. "I know we've never really labeled it and I mean...its not important. As long as we're together, I don't care in the end what we are." He shifted then, pushing his fingers through his hair before he started in on his own food. He licked his lips after a few moments, his smile still in place. "I remembered something today." He always hesitated a bit before telling Steve that he remembered anything, worried that it might be wrong, that his brain was still playing tricks on him, but lately the memories were always steady.

"So, I got a really good pay from the docks one time because I'd worked extra that week. I remember you'd managed to sell some of your sketches too and I was so proud of you for it. Always was when it came to your art." He ducked his head a bit, taking another bite before lifting his eyes. "So I splurged a little and got us some different sandwiches and other things. Made us a picnic in the living room of our apartment. And I got you a new set of pencils, even if you griped at me for it." He seemed so happy to just remember something so simple. So many of his recent memories had been of the war or times when Steve had been sick, the fear of losing him swallowing him up even though he knew it wouldn't happen now.

Sorry for the delay; I got sick and it really knocked me on my butt

[personal profile] pastpermission 2018-09-03 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Steve swallows that bite of food quickly, because it's hard to talk with a mouth full, and he doesn't want anything to be left unsaid. "Yeah, I know what you mean. I just care that we're together." He almost said something different, but it just felt too possessive; he and Bucky were more than friends, yes, but he didn't own the other man. No one did, and the label of "mine" was one that Steve didn't particularly like because of its implications. Just because he'd defy anyone who said they knew Bucky better than he did didn't mean he wanted to lay claim to him that way. It didn't feel right.

"You did? That's great, Buck." Anything that Bucky remembered, Steve considered a triumph. "So tell me about it." He listens as Bucky goes on to explain, practically hanging on every word.

"Oh, yeah, I remember that. I was really happy that someone wanted to buy my art." Steve smiles a little bashfully, even though it's been years since then. "I still thought there were other, better artists out there, so anytime anyone bought something from me, I was over the moon about it." But he falls silent again because Bucky's still talking. He smiles at the memory of those sandwiches and that picnic. It was a happy occasion, and it's engraved in Steve's memory.

"I was so mad at you for buying those pencils; you could have bought yourself something nice, but you were always thinking about me." And he was always thinking about Bucky. "Still, that was a great picnic. The best one, even." He gives Bucky's hand a firm squeeze in return, happy beyond words that he got to have him in his life.

[OOC: You're fine! It happens sometimes!]

"I didn't need anything nice. I had you." He said with a lopsided grin, his skin flushing as he shifted and rubbed a hand against the back of his neck, looking sheepish. He kept hold of his hand for a moment before leaning over and pressing a soft kiss to his cheek and then his lips. "I just...I'm glad its starting to come back. Our life..." He looked down, pushing a few bites of food around. "Its been hard...sometimes when you tell stories and I don't remember, you always look so hurt. I know you aren't mad at me for it, but still, it makes me want to remember even more. Just to see that smile on your face."

He was still grinning, though it was a bit sheepish. "I know you don't want me pushing myself and I promise I'm not, but I still try. Every day I try. I...I go back as far as I can remember and hope there's more there. Sometimes there is. Like today."

"Yeah, but- I always wanted you to have nice things. Or even one nice thing. Just because money was tight didn't mean you couldn't get what you wanted at least once." Or more than once, if Steve had had anything to say about it. Or if money wasn't the issue that it had been. "I'm glad for that too, but you know I'd be glad just to have you." Steve looked down too, for just a second, knowing that sometimes it did hurt that Bucky didn't remember. But then he'd come to realize that while the memories were important, what was even more important was having the man there at all.

"You don't need an excuse for me to smile at you, you know." And he was smiling right then, one of the biggest smiles he'd worn in recent days. Bucky was worth it, and he deserved it in more ways than one.

"It's progress, and that's all I could really hope for." He reaches for Bucky's free hand and gives it a fond squeeze.

He took his hand, squeezing back before pulling it over and kissing his knuckles. "I know you always wanted me to have nice things, but Stevie you were always the nicest thing in my life. You meant more to me than anything else and you should know that."

He smiled back, reaching out more and drawing his knuckles down over the man's cheek. "I love making you smile though. Especially when its because that I could remember something important."

Steve chuckles, fond amusement clear in his voice. "I always thought you were crazy. You had to be, to pick a skinny little guy like me." But he means it in the best way. The fact that Bucky chose him meant the world to him back then, and it still does even years later. It's even funnier now that Steve's no longer a skinny guy with health problems.

"Well, you really are remembering more and more, so the way I see it, that just means more reasons for me to smile." Not that Bucky has to do anything for Steve to smile at him.

"I may have been crazy, but not for picking you." He teased, leaning over and catching Steve around the back of his neck so he could pull him into a kiss.

"Still say you're the best thing that ever happened to me. God only knows where I would be now if I hadn't had you in my life." He pointed out before pulling away and taking a sip of his beer.
