( the affectionate physical contact meme )

you love spending time with your significant other. but sometimes, just "spending time" with him/her isn't enough. you need to have your hands on each other every now and then.
➝ post your character below, with your character's name and series in the subject.
➝ tag other people, using an rng with range 1-8 to roll a scenario.
➝ roll as many times as you want, play out whatever you want
one; hugging. you just want to give your loved one a warm embrace. be it out of happiness, to comfort them while they're down, or just to give them something warm to latch onto, you just want to wrap your arms around them.
two; kissing. whether it's a peck on the cheek or a deep kiss, a kiss good-bye or a romantic kiss, you find yourself compelled to kiss the other person! be as tender or as passionate as you so choose.
three; holding hands. it's a simple gesture, really -- to reach out and take someone's hand. but that one simple gesture can convey any number of sentiments. what the sentiment is, is up to you, but you find yourself reaching out to take your significant other's hand.
four; carrying. is your loved one hurt and needs a lift? do they want a piggyback ride? or do you just want to spare them the effort of walking? whatever the reason, you're now itching to pick up your partner and carry them to their destination.
five; i love you. you've said it before or maybe you haven't but now you have to say it again or for the first time.
six; dancing. kick up the music, because it's time to dance! but no lone dancing allowed -- you need to have a partner! you can do whatever dance strikes your fancy. personally, i recommend the slow dance, but you can do whatever you want!
seven; massaging. did your significant other have a rough day? did they get hurt? or do you just feel like doing something really nice for them? whatever it is, you're giving them a nice massage now. they'll feel wonderful in no time!
eight; flirting. the easiest way to break the ice or maybe you're just an overly flirty person.
nine; cuddling. sometimes there's just no better feeling than curling up next to each other on a warm sofa. hold each other, lie next to each other, fall asleep on each other -- it's all good here.
ten; wild card! reroll, pick an option, or come up with something else!

"You always were great at taking care of me. Didn't you ever get sick of it? I mean, you could've been doing anything, but instead, you stuck with me and got me back on my feet." If that wasn't friendship, then Steve didn't know what was. "I really wanted to pay you back. That's why I did that. Was it the best decision at the time? Not really, but you deserved something in return, even if it was just breakfast."
Steve smiled at those memories; even though he was unwell a lot of the time, he and Bucky found ways to be happy.
"Sounds good. What's on the menu?" He stood up and followed his friend into the kitchen. "I'll take a beer, I guess." Normally, he wouldn't, but this qualified as a special occasion.

"No I didn't. I never got sick of taking care of you, Stevie..." He murmured softly, ducking his head a bit before shaking himself as he grabbed two beers. He popped them both open, setting them on the table before he went to the oven. After a few minutes he pulled out a small pan of lasagna and another of garlic bread. "Extra meat. We both need the extra protein with our metabolisms." He smiled a bit sheepishly as he laid everything out. "And I...I didn't care about doing anything else, Steve. No one...nothing was more important to me. You were my best friend and the..." He trailed off, swallowing a bit. It was always a little hard for him to admit things. Especially after everything. He never really understood that he was allowed to feel now.
"You're the love of my life." He admitted softly, shrugging a shoulder as he finished putting everything down on the table, turning to pull a few more things out of the fridge for them. "Okay so I didn't make this, but Shuri thought it would be funny to make us an apple pie." He showed it before putting it in the oven to warm. "Even got ice cream with it."

He fell silent as Bucky started to talk, thinking to himself for not the first time how much he liked the sound of his friend's voice. It was as reassuring now as it was back then.
And just then, hearing those words from Bucky, Steve knew what he had to say, and he meant every word of it. "You're the most important person to me, Bucky. No one else even comes close." Not even the other Avengers, the ones Steve felt obligated to look after and keep safe to the best of his abilities. "You're- Well, you're everything to me, and then some."
And then his attention was distracted by the sight of that pie. "No way. A real apple pie? And ice cream?" Now he was looking at Bucky like he was the best thing that ever happened to him, besides being the love of his life. He was, and nothing would ever change that, but the fact that he'd thought of everything possible to make this night great made Steve feel like the world's luckiest man.
No one else would think to come up with a pie and ice cream. "You're the best, you know that?"

"I just wanted tonight to be special." He said after setting everything up. He hesitated a moment before leaning in to Steve, tipping his head up and then back so he could press their lips together. It was soft and brief, but still there. Then he sat, motioning for Steve to help himself. "You first. And like I said, the pie was more Shuri than me. I teased and said that you were more American than apple pie and apparently now she thinks we must all love apple pie the best. Though...well, you DO actually like it the best." He said before laughing and shaking his head.
He leaned on his arm, watching Steve and shaking his head. "So, after dinner how about you take a shower because I know how much it helps you relax. Then, you decide what we do. I just know I'm ending the night with giving you the best massage you ever had, pal."

He chuckled as he sat back down. "I'll take a shower, but- it would be a lot better if you joined me." There was a time when he'd have been too embarrassed to make that suggestion, but aside from the slightest hint of a red tinge on his neck, Steve gave no sign that his words did anything but make him grin. "A movie sounds good. I can't remember the last time I got to watch one all the way through."

He grabbed his own plate, filling it as well as he seemed to pretend to think about the request. "Hmm, taking a shower with my hot best friend slash boyfriend?" He raised an eyebrow before laughing again. "No. Man, you're asking too much. Its just too much of a hardship." He faked dramatically before rolling his eyes, his smile splitting his face and making his eyes sparkle for a moment. "Of course I'll join you. Punk." He said, pecking his cheek before he started in on the food. "So movie it is then. Gonna make you sprawl out on the pull out in the living room so I can really get at your back. Not enough to make you sleep though. I'll work on it though."
He brushed his fingers through his hair, chuckling at even that slight amount of blushing. God he loved that he could still have that kind of effect on him. Though once again he knew he missed when those reactions were a bit more extreme. When Steve would stutter and stammer through his requests, or just make hand motions while turning bright red. It had been adorable.

But that was before he caught sight of Bucky's smile, and those eyes that sparkled. Something inside him leaped up in response to that; he always loved the other man's smile, but of all people, Bucky had the least amount of reasons to smile. "Jerk." The word was said fondly, though, and Steve's eyes crinkled up as he gave a smile of his own.
"Sounds like a plan. The massage alone would be great." He still felt some residual stiffness after the day's events, and he found himself really looking forward to the rest of the evening.

He couldn't help rolling his eyes at the other, shaking his head a bit before reaching over and squeezing his hand. "I know we've never really labeled it and I mean...its not important. As long as we're together, I don't care in the end what we are." He shifted then, pushing his fingers through his hair before he started in on his own food. He licked his lips after a few moments, his smile still in place. "I remembered something today." He always hesitated a bit before telling Steve that he remembered anything, worried that it might be wrong, that his brain was still playing tricks on him, but lately the memories were always steady.
"So, I got a really good pay from the docks one time because I'd worked extra that week. I remember you'd managed to sell some of your sketches too and I was so proud of you for it. Always was when it came to your art." He ducked his head a bit, taking another bite before lifting his eyes. "So I splurged a little and got us some different sandwiches and other things. Made us a picnic in the living room of our apartment. And I got you a new set of pencils, even if you griped at me for it." He seemed so happy to just remember something so simple. So many of his recent memories had been of the war or times when Steve had been sick, the fear of losing him swallowing him up even though he knew it wouldn't happen now.
Sorry for the delay; I got sick and it really knocked me on my butt
"You did? That's great, Buck." Anything that Bucky remembered, Steve considered a triumph. "So tell me about it." He listens as Bucky goes on to explain, practically hanging on every word.
"Oh, yeah, I remember that. I was really happy that someone wanted to buy my art." Steve smiles a little bashfully, even though it's been years since then. "I still thought there were other, better artists out there, so anytime anyone bought something from me, I was over the moon about it." But he falls silent again because Bucky's still talking. He smiles at the memory of those sandwiches and that picnic. It was a happy occasion, and it's engraved in Steve's memory.
"I was so mad at you for buying those pencils; you could have bought yourself something nice, but you were always thinking about me." And he was always thinking about Bucky. "Still, that was a great picnic. The best one, even." He gives Bucky's hand a firm squeeze in return, happy beyond words that he got to have him in his life.

[OOC: You're fine! It happens sometimes!]
"I didn't need anything nice. I had you." He said with a lopsided grin, his skin flushing as he shifted and rubbed a hand against the back of his neck, looking sheepish. He kept hold of his hand for a moment before leaning over and pressing a soft kiss to his cheek and then his lips. "I just...I'm glad its starting to come back. Our life..." He looked down, pushing a few bites of food around. "Its been hard...sometimes when you tell stories and I don't remember, you always look so hurt. I know you aren't mad at me for it, but still, it makes me want to remember even more. Just to see that smile on your face."
He was still grinning, though it was a bit sheepish. "I know you don't want me pushing myself and I promise I'm not, but I still try. Every day I try. I...I go back as far as I can remember and hope there's more there. Sometimes there is. Like today."
And I fell off the wagon again. /shakes fist at work
"You don't need an excuse for me to smile at you, you know." And he was smiling right then, one of the biggest smiles he'd worn in recent days. Bucky was worth it, and he deserved it in more ways than one.
"It's progress, and that's all I could really hope for." He reaches for Bucky's free hand and gives it a fond squeeze.
Re: And I fell off the wagon again. /shakes fist at work
[I've been having issues myself so its all good. Take your time.]
He took his hand, squeezing back before pulling it over and kissing his knuckles. "I know you always wanted me to have nice things, but Stevie you were always the nicest thing in my life. You meant more to me than anything else and you should know that."
He smiled back, reaching out more and drawing his knuckles down over the man's cheek. "I love making you smile though. Especially when its because that I could remember something important."
no subject
"Well, you really are remembering more and more, so the way I see it, that just means more reasons for me to smile." Not that Bucky has to do anything for Steve to smile at him.

"I may have been crazy, but not for picking you." He teased, leaning over and catching Steve around the back of his neck so he could pull him into a kiss.
"Still say you're the best thing that ever happened to me. God only knows where I would be now if I hadn't had you in my life." He pointed out before pulling away and taking a sip of his beer.
