Only if you mean to make a party the fish's final moments. It's quite toxic, you know.

If this is going to wind up a lecture on acetaldehyde, I'm having none of it.

He just wants to live a little.

I educate, but never lecture.

What makes you think that? Are you on speaking terms with the fish?

[ Humans. ]

[personal profile] technicoloured 2018-04-28 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Would you be so kind as to educate me on the distinction you feel you're making, then?

I can read it in his eyes. This fish has the soul of those Gatsby types.

My understanding of the word "lecture" is that it comes with certain sanctimonious connotations. But I'm not one to go on about things you haven't asked of me; I'm afraid my programming is not that that sophisticated.

The soul of an identity thief? You can see that from its eyes? It is a female, I believe.
technicoloured: (went lame; all blind;)

[personal profile] technicoloured 2018-04-28 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Sophisticated enough to register as sanctimonious all the same, though.

No, Schatz, I mean the soul of romanticized nothingness. That's what's in his eyes.

Her eyes.

The eyes of the fish your morality sensors are telling me not to share the tequila with.

Romanticized nothingness, a curious turn of phrase.

There isn't anything moral about telling you the fish will die if you give it tequila - that is a fact. I would do it for you if you asked me to. I understand some morality, but I don't possess it.

[If he had a penny for every time AI told him to speak like a normal human person, he'd have at least several pennies.]

It's not a matter of you possessing it. It's a matter of you presenting facts which should, in the socialized human brain, present issues of moral judgement or moral action.

Which is already more difficult for the distracting biological degradation of my own body.
progen: (pic#11449671)

[personal profile] progen 2018-04-28 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ This particular AI was being snarky about fish eyes, but he'd probably prefer to give up the penny. It tends to put people more at ease when he's a dumb blonde. ]

I'm hearing that I'm spoiling your fun by telling you the consequences of your potential actions when your inhibitions are lowered.
technicoloured: (cursed through the sludge)

[personal profile] technicoloured 2018-04-28 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
And circle gets the square.

Which, of course, begins the infinite feedback loop of whether that's not what I wanted to accomplish by asking you in the first place.

But I expect I'll be glad the fish is alive tomorrow.

[personal profile] progen 2018-04-28 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid I'm not familiar enough with fun to sense when I've begun to spoil it. Terribly sorry.

Did the fish's soul mention her name as well?

[personal profile] technicoloured 2018-04-28 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
You can't have fun, but you can feel sorry?

I'm not communing with the fish. I'm recognizing absence of purpose.
progen: (pic#11449792)

[personal profile] progen 2018-04-28 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I can have fun, I just haven't had much of it with humans. The normal pastime, becoming inebriated, is quite beyond me.

You could assign it one. It is your property, is it not?
technicoloured: (like old beggars under sacks)

[personal profile] technicoloured 2018-04-28 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
And can you feel sorry?

Is life ever actually property?
progen: (pic#11452123)

[personal profile] progen 2018-04-28 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
No.

[ Got 'im. ]

And I suppose that depends on how you define life. Is there life without a purpose?
technicoloured: (men marched asleep)

[personal profile] technicoloured 2018-04-28 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, take that, bucko. Be in awe of humanity's self-sabotaging emotional landscape. In awe.]

Is it something to say reflexively, then?

Oh, dearheart, there's worlds of it.
progen: (pic#11449672)

[personal profile] progen 2018-04-28 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Good thing he can be entertained. And mystified. ]

It's ingratiating. A little like your endearments, I imagine.

Does your life have a purpose, Mr. Invorian?
technicoloured: (but limped on; blood-shod.)

[personal profile] technicoloured 2018-04-28 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Possibly a bit. They are, however, almost entirely reflexive. And more than a little sentimental, to be honest.

Some days more than others.
progen: (pic#11452124)

[personal profile] progen 2018-04-28 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
So you're saying you are reflexively sentimental. That seems paradoxical.

And today?
technicoloured: (lost their boots)

[personal profile] technicoloured 2018-04-28 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it? My intent isn't to please the listener. My mind simply responds to the sensation of being part of a communication with the impulse to express affection, because it learned some time ago that expressing affection was a pleasant thing to do. The sentiment isn't for the other half of the conversation so much as for the conversation itself.

All part of the further romanticized nothingness of human emotions.

Today's purpose was on the other side of this bottle of tequila.
progen: (pic#11449761)

[personal profile] progen 2018-04-28 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Processing... processing... ]

Then the goal of your conversations is to please yourself.

Did you manage it, darling?
technicoloured: (just in time)

[personal profile] technicoloured 2018-04-28 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
You're on an absolute roll tonight.

Either I did and now I'm celebrating, or I didn't and now I'm forgetting.

Does your life have a purpose?
progen: (pic#11577555)

[personal profile] progen 2018-04-28 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
You've been quite effective at communicating. I'd be rather impressed if you did manage to finish that tequila. Not many humans could possess the high BAC that would warrant and retain their eloquence.

If it does, my creator never informed me of it. I suspect he'd rather like to argue with you as to whether or not I have a life.

technicoloured: (deaf even to the hoots)

[personal profile] technicoloured 2018-04-28 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)

Do you think you have a life?
progen: (pic#11449675)

[personal profile] progen 2018-04-28 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Have I never?

I have an existence, but legally speaking, I am considered inorganic property.
