Ben pisses him off. Not as much as the Highbreed, and definitely not as much as the Yeerks, but there's still just a little too much of Jake and Marco in Ben for David to really like the guy, even after six months of a more-or-less-working relationship.

Maybe it's just the being on call that pisses David off. If he'd won the fight between them, that first time they met, things would be different. Ben would be on call for him, and he'd have the final say on who to hit and how. But that wasn't how it went down. He'd had the advantage in aggression and the home field, but there wasn't a morph he had that could beat that Omnitrix.

Ben had been gracious in victory, at least. He hadn't tried to enlist David full time into his little Power Rangers group. He'd taken what he came for, but left him to his own devices (more or less) otherwise. And, to be fair, every time Ben came by since then requesting his help on a mission or requesting something from the stash of alien weapons and technology he's built up, it's been for something important.

But David's not really a "plays-well-with-others" kinda guy. Never has been. So he keeps his head down, raiding from the Yeerks or the Highbreed when he can and otherwise laying low in his hideout/workshop. Not really a whole lot of reasons to go out otherwise when most of human civilization is caught between two warring alien empires. Also, laying low is a good idea just in case any of the other Animorphs are still alive out there. Not that he plans to tell Ben about them. Ever.

He's crawled up inside what he was told was a Class 12 Armored Mecha Suit (though he's starting to have his doubts) when Ben arrives, and he knows it's Ben because Ben's the only one with the passcodes to get in here. He doesn't even crawl out of the suit, just calls down irritably, "What do you want, Tennyson?"

It finally happened. The shit had hit the fan. Dean and Sam had been separated, and there was an endgame that Sam didn't know yet. It was infuriating that he wasn't privy to the final fight, but he knew Dean was likely with his angel.

Fucking Castiel.

Sam just knew that what he needed was an angel of his own. It had taken months - and while the world eroded around him, Sam did his research. Marked and marred, he'd done things that were unsavory, but sometimes unsavory things needed to happen. His deals and oaths and sacrifices had led him what looked like a crack house.

His angel-heir was in there, and Sam knew him by look. He only hoped the two of them combined could put an end to this madness.

The front door was rigged - he could see it from the end of the dirt driveway. Instead, Sam moved to the backyard, stripped off his shirt, and sat down. The runes on his bones would keep him from being tracked, but he figured eventually, someone would come out.

{ Ambrose is a vampire who, due to a dumb set of circumstances, gets himself Kill Bill vol 2ed (buried alive) except he can't do a one inch punch, and ends up stuck for nearly 200 years. But, I would love to have him wake up indeterminately later than that, during or post apocalypse! Especially if people are scattered and clique-ing up and making tt way harder for a vampire to feed. (Yay, scrounging for animals, what fun!) He can end up unearthed on his own and wandering the wastelands or your character can dig him up, cool with either. (I'm open to whatever or whoever, but consider this: either a Mad Max freewheeling environmental disaster AU, or just something involving giant robots. Someone awakened the Primal of Cyberpunk and the world, being an otherwise feudal fantasy with skyships, was incapable of dealing with that shit.)

[ The world fell to ruin, and Lucifer missed it entirely. He slept, except there wasn't even enough left of him to call it sleeping. Scattered, his consciousness drifting, last words a whisper on the wind. His power passed on, his body turned to nothing but motes of light — at least, what had been left of it in Canaan.

The rest, what the fallen angels had stolen, had it mattered, when there was nothing of Lucifer left to inhabit it?

And without him to hold back its seal any longer, Techtonica had awoken. Fueled by Avatar's shade, called by the singularity from another world — and the sky had not been able to stand before its might.

Here, at Techtonica's birthplace, Lucifer's body has been abandoned. Forgotten.

But not all of Lucifer is gone. Those few last motes of light, clinging to existence. The last shreds of his consciousness, clinging to a single wish. And his body, calling out — a world, calling out — one person who had loved him, still calling out for him every day, no matter how long it's been.

The fallen angels had used his body for their experiments, loathe to let the supreme primarch go to waste. It's tainted, some of Techtonica's own power tainting it, but maybe that faint bit of otherworldly infection is what was finally enough to call him back from the brink. Dark patches mar his skin, the scrawling code of Techtonica's aura, and his wings are darkened — but he does have wings, and his eyes when he opens them, startled by the creak of the door opening, are familiar sky blue.

He stares at the person entering the cell unseeingly for a moment, and then it registers who it is. Who's come — seeking, no doubt, the answer to how to defeat Techtonica and save their world. His voice creaks when he speaks, from dryness and disuse, his throat aching and raw. ]
