there are a number of reasons for that. firstly and perhaps most importantly, it's very comfortable in his room at one of the more expensive inns in town. he's stuffed it with the silkiest pillows and the softest, warmest blankets. it's a paradise. a handsome guy like himself should treat himself like this more often, he thinks. secondly, drang has been calling after him. while their steaming ust and will they/won't they dynamic brings him much amusement at times, drang is still a Lot. especially between his legs? but also especially his personality. kaden isn't sure he wants to see him.

and that's because, thirdly, he's pregnant and like a fool drang has been his only lay for a while. they're not even exclusive! he could've slept with anyone else. how could this have happened to him? an old witch explained to him that sometimes very passionate erunes...well, mistakes happen? and now drang is probably rutting. that would explain all the texts on kaden's fantasy cellphone.

he eventually responds after all the ghosting he's done. how often can he leave drang on read? all the time, apparently. ]

[ Maybe it's because she's been sneaking over less and less lately, but when Derek opens the door and sees Betty on the other side of it for the first time in entirely too long for his taste, she smells different. At least, he thinks she does. It's subtle and it could be something as simple as her having changed her body wash or perfume in her absence, so Derek pays it little attention. Especially when, as he gestures her inside, he notices that she smells anxious, too. ]

It just said she needed to talk to him and that she couldn't risk discussing matters at work. Whatever is was, it sounded important because she didn't normally do things like that. She talked to him straight and she didn't lie. Walking into her apartment, Roy found her sitting on the bed. He walked over to her and sat down next to her. Why did she look....worried? ]
