snowfall;

stage i; none, streets are already blanketed in white.
stage ii; very light and intermittent.
stage iii; light - moderate. lasts longer periods.
stage iv; continuous, heavy snowfall.
stage v; the hardest of cores - blizzards, snowstorms, you name it.

scenarios;

① fuck the police, this is the best time for a walk. hope you've got a nice thick coat on.

② stranded in the buttcrack of nowheresville? weren't you watching the time? now you've gone and missed that last bus out of there. or maybe you're lost, somehow. what do?

③ literally chilling, in this weather, is quite easy to do. sitting around relaxing in it is a wee more difficult, but sometimes much more enjoyable, especially if shelter can be found. the snow is beautiful to watch, after all.

④ the weather's not going to stop you. your snow fort's packed full of ammo and ready to go. those aren't snow angels over there; they mark where the poor souls you've downed have fallen. be careful with that snowman's head!!

⑤ you're about fifty miles from civilization but there's a roof over your head, so never mind the chilly draught, right? right. you mightn't be the only one lucky enough to stumble upon this little shelter, though. remember to share the blanket.

⑥ everyone stuck outside should be jelly. you've got a fireplace and hot cocoa and damn if it isn't awesome. a heater's not quite so romantic, but it'd do. there'd better be a backup generator in case the power trips.

[ Somewhere along the way, Dewdrop took a wrong turn, though she can't really make herself call it wrong when it has led her to somewhere so right, so beautiful, so glittering, look at those snowflakes, look how they dance! The human world is an enchanting one, after all, when sprinkled with snow, like a giant sugar-coated cake, like the cake houses of Gingerbread Village back home. The outskirts of the forest is a dark shape against the almost luminescent, sunset sky from which the snow is falling gently still, oh, one should have been a snowflake, they have no care in the world! Dewdrop, on the other hand, has no time for wrong turns, has no time to lose herself in the snowfall, for she has been sent by the Sugar Plum Fairy to bring back Marie to their realm, the Mouse King is threatening the Land of Sweet's sovereignty, he is waiting at their borders, the bandit! At the moment, however, she isn't sure where she is at all, she might have passed Marie's house on the way or she might have crossed over into another world entirely, the snow makes everything look the same. Peaceful. Quiet. ]

"Sherlock, you promised you'd try this." John hummed as he laced up his skates. He smiled up at the man from his seat on the bench. It seemed like his partner was looking at him with a look of confusion and annoyance. He imagined that ice skating was the last thing Sherlock had in mind. John wanted to do something to celebrate the fact that they were going to have a white Christmas. It was only a light snow now, but soon, it would really get heavy. "Come on then. I'm sure you're a natural. There's a science behind it after all." He said trying to get him interested.

darkness is as a flame to a moth. it's a light bridge of bare feet dancing across a fine path of taut rope. she tells herself that the interest she has in him wasn't intended to go beyond a dream. she tiptoed around the sinking blackness of his night thoughts, fixated and fascinated by the way they warped the other side. find him, they insisted. but upon her return, she offered a gentle shrug of pale shoulders. he's too well-hidden, she lied in unsinkable earnest. it'll take time.

her hand doesn't tremble as it nears the shape of his, a knuckle grazing. the snow falls like dust, catching itself in the blonde of her strands, against the length of her eyelashes. wind whips, chilling her to the bone, and she settles closer to his side. ( the crooked man slipped a gnarled finger through her hair — yes, yes, yes, he'll love you to pieces. ) daisy's lips purse, thoughtful, and her gaze gravitates upwards and towards his own. ]

It's just a few blocks now.

[ that faraway sound makes itself known in her voice — half here, half between — and her smile is pink with cold. the lane of crunching snow and towering nightlights lead them to the edge of the park. swings creak and the evening stirs with a bitter, cruel magic that neither speaks of. ]

[ it was supposed to be a weekend get-away, but the snow has been coming down hard and while clark could easily reach civilisation, there's really no easy explanation for how, and lois has vetoed flying through the snow. she loves her job, she really does, but they have enough food for now and it's only day three of the two they got off.

that, and it's almost christmas. ]

[On the surface of it, there's nothing to complain about right now. They're safe inside, well-fortified in every way possible. There's no traveling for the moment, but they have no need of it. It's quiet, it's comfortable, it's calm.

Evaan hates it.

She wasn't even supposed to be here for long. Just run a mission, then back to what remains of the Alderaanian people. It certainly wasn't supposed to end in her getting snowed in, of all things, with the princess. Like she'd been paying a social call and just got casually stuck here! It's embarrassing.

Also embarrassing is how excited she was when she first heard of the heavy snowfall. Of course she could fly in weather like this, but her ship's well out of commission and she doesn't have to try, and nobody will hear of it anyhow. But more importantly, she hates, hates that it's probably entirely obvious how she's glad of the excuse to spend a little more time with Leia. Sure, they're in a war -- but she sees people around her taking a moment to themselves all the time, and she hasn't had anyone to take a moment with, and she's just missed her friend, all right?

But she's a stubborn thing, so of course all she's said is variations on the following.]

This is absurd. I should be doing something useful.
