Caught in the rain

It started out quietly, and then, quite suddenly, you're caught in a storm. Time to find cover. Nothing much to do but to wait it out.

i WHERE:
001 PLAYGROUND - Well, you can try to hide under the slide or maybe in the jungle gym... at least you're some place fun?
002 PARK - Always happens, caught outside trying to take advantage of the weather... and it ends up pulling a fast one on you.
003 STORE FRONT - Better hope they have an awning you can take advantage of.
004 THE BEACH - Not exactly the best place to be during a rainstorm, however it is possible to get caught in a sudden storm.
005 WILD CARD - Anyway you want it.


ii HOW:
001 TREE - Not the best cover, but it'll have to do, stay close to the roots and you won't get too wet.
002 UMBRELLA - Most conventional... Kinda boring. But it works.
003 NEWSPAPER - Not permanent, but it'll have to do. Good luck.

[just to be one-hundred and fifteen percent clear, this is not a date.

this is — going on a supply run because they're in serious need of it, because someone who's going to remain nameless (drax) keeps getting into the emergency rations, and in, like, an actual emergency? they're going to be screwed. but, yeah, anyway, it's just a supply run on maklu iv, you know, just boring, responsible stuff, nothing to do with that unspoken-but-kinda-spoken-but-also-kinda-still-unspoken thing that he's been stepping around for weeks, because if he's honest, he's not really sure what happens next and he's more than a little nervous about completely blowing it.

but if they happen to have left the others behind for the day and are having some time to themselves, if there happens to be more of just walking than actual, like, supply-buying at this moment, he's not about to complain. it hits home seriously hard now that he wouldn't trade any of them for anything, but god it's nice to have some time away from rocket, who's been doing a great job of getting on every single one of his freaking nerves again, and — well, yeah. the weather's really nice, too, sunny and warm to the point that he barely needs his jacket.

that is, until it isn't.

there's an old saying that comes to mind, one people would use to describe storms suddenly rolling in over the cornfields in the spring and summer, that the "bottom fell out," and, yeah, that's a pretty good approximation of what's happening here; one second, the sky's clear, and then in the next, completely without warning, it's all dark and the rain starts pouring. while they're, you know, in the middle of an open, exposed street, which is just perfect.

and you know what? even if he'd tried to claim this as a date before, he sure as hell isn't now.

but yeah, anyway, this sucks, and he figures he should do something to make it suck a little less, because that's what you do when you like someone. and the first thing he thinks of is to slip out of his jacket and hold it over gamora's head so that she doesn't get the worst of it, which is a pretty good plan right up until about the time there's this gust of wind that blows literally right on him.
