Whoa boy. Vrenille has already gathered that Alec's experience us pretty limited but...he has to do a mental double take here, trying to make sure he's really heard what he thinks he's heard: is he actually a virgin? Vrenille is tactful enough not to ask the question aloud, but he's definitely wondering if he's understanding him right.

Anyway, what's unmistakable is what Alec has asked him--how do you know? "The way I figure, it's about fifty percent fantasy, fifty percent experimentation. Folks get all hung up on shame or decorum or whatever, makes 'em tell themselves stories about what they think is supposed to get them off instead of what really does.

"As far as knowing what someone else is into though? I mean I know it's not gonna help you much, but you can't really replace experience. I could tell you just to ask, but let's be real--sometimes asking only gets you so far. First few guys I fucked I didn't know what the hell I was doing. I just sort of went with what they wanted until I started to work it out." He's not trying to advocate this as a good strategy necessarily, but trying to pin down how he learned to suss out what gets different guys off is kind of hard to explain.

Alec is tense, nothing new but he can tell the wheels in Vrenille's head are turning. He knows with his upbringing he is unusual, inexperienced and clearly it is as uncommon as he always worries it is. He knows he's weird, it is the judgment of those differences that makes him nervous.

Vrenille however is graceful in his handling of it, Alec is grateful he does not ask what he clearly knows. Yes, Alec is a virgin.

However, the bluntness of Vrenille tells Alec that he is rather experienced and more open to telling Alec about those experiences than Magnus may be. After all, Vrenille does not have to worry that he'll hurt Alec or make him jealous.

"So, I just need to try? What if I screw it all up? This is invasive, I am sorry but I've never met anyone who talks about this, like this." Or for that matter been comfortable enough himself to talk about sex like this. It may help if he could say the word, maybe he'd be more comfortable then.

Ah damn. The moment Alec says straight up that he's never had anyone else to talk to like this before, Vrenille sees the sticky spot he's gotten himself into: there's some things that Alec doesn't know about him, things that Vrenille has been figuring he just wouldn't mention because they didn't seem relevant...up until now.

He's really not thrilled with the idea of talking about them either, because he gets the impression that it might make things kind of awkward and weird between the two of them, like Alec might be uncomfortable once he knows. He's pretty sure that it will change the way the younger man views him, one way or another.

He doesn't see how it'd be okay for him just not to disclose the thing though. At this point that would be too much like lying, and Vrenille really doesn't like to lie, especially not in circumstances like these. There's a trust that's been building between the two of them, and he values that, which means he's going to have to risk the rapport they've been building so as not to outright betray it.

"Look man, you can ask me whatever you want, and I'm cool with talking about any of it. I'll tell you the way I see it all, and you're not gonna embarrass me, no matter what you wanna say. But you should know that I...might be kinda an odd person for you to be taking advice from."

And he's going to have to explain why before they go any further down the proverbial rabbit hole together.

Alec appreciates honesty, that is the only certain thing at this moment. He himself is a mass of emotions. He feels a bit like he is spiraling down said rabbit hole already. If he were not currently piloting several tons of steel, he'd be pacing,at the least.

Alec flushes in embarrassment, of course it was odd. They had just met, they barely knew each other. They had bigger issues to worry about than his lack of experience. Alec looks contrite when he speaks,misreading Vrenille's intentions. Suffering clear distress himself as he realizes he may have been more honest than he should.

"I apologize, you're right, I should keep my focus. I did not mean to make you uncomfortable.

Wow, okay so that's...definitely not what he was trying to say, and it makes the point pretty clearly that if Vrenille wants to make his meaning understood he's going to have to come right out and say it pretty bluntly. He hadn't really wanted to do that because he suspects that Alec will think badly of him for it, but--

"No. No, that's not what I mean. I'm not uncomfortable. I'm a hustler." He probably needs to put a finer point on it though, he thinks, to make sure he's avoiding any misunderstanding. "I fuck guys for money.

"I mean, not just for money," he smiles a crooked smile, an unabashed show of the fact that he genuinely likes the sex too, "but money's a pretty standard part of it."

Alec after this will hope Vrenille can forgive him for his initial reaction. The words cause Alec to actually slam on the brakes, stop and look clearly shocked. It is not just what Vrenille says he does but the way he says it. Alec looks at him with that intense gaze of his. There is no judgment, still shock. He had no inclination what so ever that Vrenille was a, he can not think the word so instead he thinks the one Vrenille used, hustler.

"Sorry, sorry." Alec mutters, once again pressing the gas. Still in shock and feeling a creep of guilt at the natural part of him that almost judges Vrenille. That would have certainly judged him harshly had they not spent their time talking so openly.

"I mean, why, aren't there other ways to make money? You deserve to be with someone you love, not someone who pays you." Wait, now he sounds judgmental. Great, not what he was aiming for and Alec drifts to the side of the road, pulling over he squeezes the wheel several times, takes a breath and shakes his head.

"Forgive me, I shouldn't say that. Every one makes their own career path and I know what it is to be judged for being who you are. I didn't mean to do that to you."

Good to know what these seatbelts are for at least, Vrenille thinks, because yeah he definitely wasn't expecting that. His hands come up on reflex to brace against the dashboard, and then he winces a little at the way his muscles and joints all complain at the sudden movement.

He also laughs though, or at least he does a moment later once he's had a second to process Alec's whole reaction.

"Don't worry," he assures, still chuckling, "I promise I've heard a lot worse."

He maybe hasn't shocked anyone quite so much before, but as far as judgement goes, this is small potatoes. He's still not the least bit embarrassed to talk about his past or answer questions either, even if Alec is embarrassed to have asked them.

"When I was fifteen, it was pretty much the best way of making money. Got me a good warm bed to sleep in a lotta nights when I wouldn'tve had one. And honestly, I'm good at it. I don't mean the fucking--that's just a skill, y'know, anyone can learn that. I mean the people. There's a certain way you gotta be with people if you're gonna make it work, for you and them. That's what I'm good at."

He smiles, "And I'm with people who love me all the time. They may not be the same people I fuck, but then who am I to say. I mean, a guy sees me regularly every week year after year, pays me to travel city to city to see him--who am I to say what all that means for him.

"When it comes right down to it, sex ain't that complicated, man. It's just friction, one way or another. It's people that're what's complicated."
