1. BREAK DOWN

Oh, snap, your car decided to break down out in the middle of nowhere. WHAT DO? Is that Leatherface? Will this be "Children of the Corn"?

2. TRUCK STOP

You've stopped at a gas station. They're out of gas, snacks and the bathrooms are out of order. Wat do. (Zombie attack optional.)

3. HITCHHIKERS?

Is this even a good idea? Why is their backpack leaking suspicious substances? Go wild.

4. WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST HIT?

Dude, I hear deer mess up cars... or I think that was a deer.

5. DON'T MAKE ME TURN THIS CAR AROUND!

Alas, you're the parent or the disgruntled friend who has had it up to here with all the fighting in the back.

6. OMG, I WANT TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THIS LANDMARK!

No, no, and no. You tell that person that they're going to be driven around and they're going to like it.

7. THE GREAT ESCAPE

Either dinosaurs or the mothman is chasing you. Don't stop now.

8. MAKE OUT~

You're now parked in one of the make-out points in this town. Did you know? Well, that's up to you, as is what you do next.

9. WE'RE SO LOST

The map blew away when you were stupid enough to open the windows earlier. You know that old stereotype about how men never ask for directions but women will? Time to see if you're going to prove it right or not. Try not to fight over it too much, driving partners.

10. BUT OFFICER...

Those flashing lights in your rearview mirror? Definitely not just for decoration.

Sometimes in the course of human events, a guy has a really epically bad day. Not the kind of bad day where your hair won't cooperate and you forget your wallet in your other pants and a bird craps on your shoulder. The kind of bad day where the fabric of reality tears and you fall through a rift and end up on a very dark stretch of road in the middle of the night with no idea where you are or how you got there or how you're going to get back.

That is the kind of bad day that Vrenille is having, and he would currently be cursing every one of the Six gods plus Abaddon about it, except that he's not even got his bearings yet when the headlights appear.

Granted, he doesn't know that they're headlights. Where he comes from cars aren't A Thing. Tanks and helicopters and other machines of war, sure, but not cars for transportation. Not cars that move that fast coming around a bend in the road like something that's just materialized right out of thin air practically the way that he's just done.

He has the chance to draw one sharp, shocked breath, his heart jumping into his throat as he raises his arm, but it's all too sudden and there's not nearly time enough for him to move out of the way.

(Eddie doesn't know how he wound up here.

There's a long winding stretch of memory that pulls him through the pits of a dark cavernous tunnel. Sewers, maybe, but tunnels are a possibility. There's wet and cold and fear so deep that he nearly wet himself from it. He feels like there's something else he should be remembering, but no matter how hard he tries to grasp at it, the memory eases out between his fingers. Like trying to grab onto jell-o.

It's that Goddamn turtle, he thinks. He'd only seen the glimpse of its shell before all shit went to hell in a hand basket, and then there had been lights and a blinding pain somewhere in his arm. Eddie's on the fast track to being fucked, and he looks it. His clothes are filthy, his hair a mess, and he's got a broken arm in a cast that looks like its seen substantially better days. He walks in a daze, not really thinking, just wondering how much trouble he was going to be in when he finally got home.

Eddie Kaspbrak did not yet realize that he was very far from home. That he had somehow been plunged into a world linked up to his own, that he had been, in some weird way, saved from a shitty life back in the Mainstream.

Not that this stretch of road felt too much better. He can hear a rumbling engine approaching at his back, and for a second, he's frightened. What if he turned around and it was a monster, a car with a grill that opened up to eat children?

But that would be stupid.

Eddie shakily turns his head around, staring with two wide eyes at the approaching driver. He doesn't know why the hell he does it. Maybe it's because some part of him still thinks that adults can solve problems, and boy, he's got a problem worth solving all right. But his hand lifts up, cast and all, and his thumb shakes as he sticks it out.)
