the monster & the maiden fair meme There's a long precedent in folklore and myth of beautiful young people - both men and women - being kidnapped by monsters: dragons, beasts, goblins, demons, elves, vampires, wolves, or even evil humans. In the end, however, these prisoners are almost always rescued and brought back to civilization to live a normal and happy life. But what if they didn't want to leave their jailor? They've seen behind the surface and have begun to sympathize with this "monster;" no, more than that, they've fallen for them. Will this story have a happy ending? Will the monster believe that anyone could love them? Most importantly, though, can the two of them be left alone without any attempts at a "rescue?" how to play Comment with your character, your preference, and what role they'll play. Feel free to AU characters to your desire role. Reply to others. Thread anything that could remotely fit under the umbrella theme. Was the kidnapping just that, or did both parties know (and care) for each other before, making it a collaborative, mutual effort? Perhaps you'd prefer to play the actual Beauty and The Beast-style getting to know each other or seeing behind the grizzly facade. What about an attempted "rescue?" Or maybe you could thread out a scene where the prisoner runs away from the society they were forced back into and returns to their beloved beast! It's all up to you. You could even do smut if you wanted to, but this isn't a smut meme.

It had been three weeks since the mistake. One tiny little mistake and here he was, locked up in some old house in the middle of nowhere, stripped of his weapons and gear with no hope of escape and only a faint hope of rescue.
He'd just been tired that day, had missed the tell-tale whistle of air behind him and that had been that, good night Grayson, please enjoy your complimentary one-way trip to Scarecrow's place; a dusty, creepy house with all the chains and nightmares you could ever wish for.

He'd expected Batman to come for him at first, but after hearing that Scarecrow had managed to locate or disable every tracker he had on him and spread them out halfway across the country... there was no way Bruce would be able to figure out where he was. He still hoped it would happen eventually, but at this point it was only a fleeting possibility.
Honestly it was a wonder he wasn't dead... and it was a wonder. He wasn't even chained up anymore. He was still locked in the house, guards patrolling round, but things had gotten a little...more comfortable. He was in a bedroom instead of a basement, was actually being fed real food. He didn't quite understand it, but he wasn't complaining.
He also still had his mask on. His costume had been swapped for some second-hand clothes that had definitely seen better days but were serviceable enough, but his mask remained firmly in place, and honestly it had made Dick curious, he was getting more interested in the [i]why[/i] Scarecrow was doing what he was doing rather than just trying to stop him, and though he'd actually managed to have one or two surprisingly civil conversations with the villain, he still hadn't got his answer.

All the same, the King of Thieves was also a title that, despite its arrogant connotations, had been well within Bakura’s right to claim. It had until now been hard-won on his part, adopted only after he had successfully plundered the tomb of the previous Pharaoh, Akhenamkhanen, of all its goods (including the mummy itself), breached the guards that the Pharaoh Atem had lined around the palace’s walls, bested the powerful ka monsters of Atem’s priests, and escaped every single trap the court had laid out for him since barring the sole exception, the annoying exception of this - this corpse come to life before his very eyes the moment he had set foot in its - no, in her tomb.

ooc: lets go with orcs, and I feel I should apologize for the starter length.

Deep down, part of Sonya knew this was wrong-or atleast, part of her felt it should be wrong. The orcs that lived here weren't..captors..per say, but they preferred her to remain with them, only getting irritated when she was away too long or had gone too far off. She should hate it, should've tried to leave and remain gone several times over when they were all too drunk, and yet..and yet she couldn't, not for ever atleast.

Life here was simple; eat, sleep, take care of the caves..fuck..nothing especially complicated or deep. Orcs were hardly complicated creatures and it was always easy to see what was on their mind after all. She may've been held here (unwillingly at first), but there was an odd sense of freedom that was always addicting.

One of the orcs seemed to spend the most time with her, even giving her things he thought she might like; food that wasn't meat, clothing that wasn't completely torn up, and the occasional knickknack that she'd use to liven up her sleeping area. Sonya had no doubt most were taken from previous victims, but the thought was there.

It was evening by the time she'd returned from the caves, wearing a worn dress that would've been brightly colored at one point in time, her hair damp from swimming in the lake. The caves had pools and springs enough for a bath or swim, but if she wished for actual privacy, her chances were better outside.
