[ so ok hope's peak is a super cool school that NEEDS TO STOP LIKE EVERYTHING IT IS DOING, IMMEDIATELY. guess what other academy is well known! yumenosaki academy. it's a school for idols (specializing in male idols) and it...also needs to stop everything it is doing, holy shit, although at least the "war" at yumenosaki is way less apocalyptic than hope's peak.

BUT IN MEMELAND WHERE THE WORLD DOESN'T END BECAUSE OF SCHOOL POLICIES AND A FASHION MODEL:

these two schools are now pretty close by one another. the students can recognize one another via uniform, at least, and while there's the reserve course/main course divide, a hope's peak academy uniform is still pretty impressive... ]

There weren't many jobs that Derek took that could potentially ruin his underground reputation, let alone endanger his life. Yet, here he was standing across the street from the reputable Crane family's house, with living in the heart of a city like this, you do have to give up big yards and some privacy but the size of this place was intimidating enough. Derek accepted this job for some extra money, a rival family wanted certain documents concerning a deal happening around the docks and they wanted to take it for themselves. He didn't care much for the deals of the families he worked for or against, he made sure that he wouldn't be touched but if he was caught, that was an entirely different story. One that he'd accept the consequences for if need be.

Information about the guard shifts and cameras were given to him in advance but knew never to truly trust routine schedules, especially for mob bosses. Derek secures a fox like mask to his face as he draws up the hood of his coat, he's been in this business for long enough that he has several masks to hide his identity on jobs as unpredictable as this. It takes near perfect timing to slip past the roaming guards patrolling the perimeter, knocking out a guard would only draw attention to his presence. The same perfect timing was required for the moving cameras as well, they left only a few second window of a blind spot to climb past of the building's fire escape.

Derek takes a deep breath before booking it across the street, a few seconds later to quietly as possible, jump off the wall and onto the ladder, climbing his way up before the camera turns and the guards walk by. He takes a moment to catch his breath before climbing further up towards the fourth floor. He'd have to jimmy the lock on the window before climbing into the room towards the door. Mr. Crane's office was on the front corner of the building, where the ladder couldn't possibly have been to make this easier. Derek almost started to doubt this job when he stealthy ran down the hallway, peeking around the corner before crouching in front of the door, trying to pick the lock.

2. magical familiar tattoo

The first time Oliver saw the white raven tattoo, he was fourteen and taking off his shirt on Tommy's pool deck. Tommy made a noise of surprise and poked the skin on his shoulder--sending a shock of pain down his spine. The pain had faded within the hour and the white raven had moved from his back to his shoulder where he could get a good look at her.

Seriously? A bird? What kind of soulmate was he going to have who was represented by a bird? An annoying, chattery, smart bird who used tools and couldn't even be the normal color for a raven. At fourteen he threw a jacket on and ignored the raven tattoo, no matter how often she stalked across his chest or wandered up his neck. It wasn't exactly like he could have a conversation with a magical soul-mate tattoo so he just covered her up and ignored her when the girls he slept with traced her feathers with their fingers.

Laurel, in particular, was fascinated, tracing her meandering walks along his shoulder blades and musing about how you had to be smart to be a lawyer, and how she'd always liked birds--

It was easy enough to believe that maybe it was her white raven, except for how the raven ran away from her every time she tried to touch it. And because the often-sleeping ocelot on her shoulder didn't remind Oliver of anything to do with him. But hey, soulmates were just a fairy tale, right? Nothing worth fretting over, and easily overcome by two strong-willed people like Oliver Queen and Laurel Lance.

(Tommy, it would turn out, had a lioness--an animal that represented law and fierceness and steadfast courage. The first time Laurel touched it, it tracked every movement, tried to mouth at her fingers, always wandered to where her hand was touching her not-quite-a-boyfriend)

And then, of course, there was the boat and Sara (a black cobra, often curled around her wrist, completely uninterested in Oliver), and the island and there were times when the white raven tattoo was the only thing that reminded Oliver there was a world outside of the heartache and survival.

Five years. The Island. Hong Kong. Amanda Waller. Reiter. The Oliver Queen that walked onto the Queen's Gambit was not the Oliver that was "rescued" by the fishing boat and returned to Starling City. And Oliver isn't even sure he knows who he is anymore (prodigal son and vigilante vie for first place) when he walks into Queen Consolidated with a busted laptop and a memory of an IT girl who told his picture he was cute. It takes one question to Ned, head of IT, to confirm Felicity Smoak still works for the company and he's down eighteen floors and walking into her office (cubicle?).

It's not until he's clearing his throat and saying "Hi" that he looks down to his hand and notices the white raven has climbed completely down from her normal perch over his heart to the back of his hand, head stretching out as close as she can get to the woman on the other side of the table with impossibly pink lips wrapped around the cap of a red pen.

Oh, shit.

"I'm Oliver Queen." and potentially, apparently, your soul mate? Oh, this just got so much more complicated.

Oda's never asked Dazai about his soulmate tattoo, which he's never seen. It's a personal thing, not something he wants to pry about. It could say anything.

So when Dazai is first summoned to the library, the words out of Oda's mouth aren't influenced by anything that might or might not be written on someone else.]

[OOC: I've always thought these two would get along but they never get a chance to appear in a comic together before Kidcrawler and 90% of the cast of X-termination was killed off, so, uh, is there a name for an AU where you smash existing bits of an extremely wide-ranging canon together without regard to timeline? Whatever, it's Marvel.]

Kurt's ears were ringing and his heart beat faster than was comfortable, but considering he'd been pretty sure he was about to be dead, the state of affairs seems pretty fair. Particularly weird mishaps with teleportations just kind of happen when you've already mixed your powers with ghost boxes and psychically powered multiversal transfers, so he's not really bothered by not knowing where he is, either. Nothing's attacking him right this second, so where and when and whether this universe is a halfway tolerable one can wait a second for his head to stop spinning. He sits up laboriously as the sulfur cloud around him disperses. "Aw geeze. Ow. Okay, whoops, what still works here..."

Contrary to what one might expect from a blue and fuzzy yellow-eyed elf with a pointy prehensile tail in this reality, the accent is pure Brookln, clipped and emotive, not remotely German. He's also a foot shorter than his counterpart in this universe, but you can't hop realities and not run into these issues. It's not the first thing on his mind. That'd be seeing where he is.
