The Witch's Curse


A fantasy AU meme where witches are real, and they are vengeful. Specify your character's role: the witch (or sorcerer), the subject of the curse, or the curse breaker. Tag around and pick or RNG a curse.

1: Change of Form: human turned animal, mythical beast turned human, human turned inanimate object, human made older/younger, the possibilities are endless

2: Obeisance: you are now cursed to follow the witch's every command and it's useless to resist, or perhaps you simply have to obey every command given you no matter who gives it

3: Curse of Sleep: like princesses before you, you are cursed to sleep for all eternity, or at least until your one true love finds you

4: Possession: be it a demon or any other kind of spirit, your body is no longer your own

5: Isolation: some witches use towers, others use forests of thorns, but either way the message is clear-- you are never seeing the outside world again

6: Resurrection: even death is not an escape from the witch's power, for some can raise the dead

7: Bad Luck: some curses are more minor, only causing you to stub your toe or drop your books, but they're still annoying

8: Defects: you weren't turned to an inhuman shape, but were somehow made hideous, clumsy, or repellent in some way-- maybe you smell terrible, or maybe people who get near you just feel uneasy and want to leave

9: Wounds: you have a wound that simply won't heal-- maybe it's slowly killing you, maybe it's just annoying, but it's not going away

10: Monster Magnet: wherever you go you're always being attacked by creatures, demons or monsters or ghosts, etc, that want to kill you

11: Never to Meet: you become an animal during the day while your true love is human, then you switch forms at night, so you can never both be human at the same time again

12: Death: your death is approaching and you need to find a way to avert it or remove the curse entirely

13: Objectification: you didn't avoid the death curse, and now your soul is bound to an inanimate object, perhaps to provide more power for the witch, to bind a spell to the object and give it power, or maybe just so you can't move on to your next life

14: Cursed Object: maybe it wasn't the witch themselves, but something that used to belong to a witch that put the curse on you, and now you must find a witch who can remove the curse

15: Cursed Ground: your house is built somewhere it really should not have been, and now you have to deal with ghosts or demons or the undead, which will really ruin your property value

16: Wildcard: choose your own adventure!

John looks at his paws. It doesn't seem to have worked but he doesn't really feel like pointing that out now. Points for effort.

Sherlock. Loves him.

The pool? That long ago?

He reaches out a large furry hand to cup Sherlock's face.

"...You pick your moments to confess something like that." he tries to smile.

It didn't work. Maybe John doesn't love him back. Maybe it doesn't work like the fairytales - of course it doesn't.

He leans into John's touch. "Meant to say... always, and I never have."
Gentle. So John knows.

The two people who love you most in the world.

"Sherlock is not a girl's name then?" John remembers.

He hates seeing Sherlock look so small. Figuratively and, from this height, literally.

He tugs Sherlock close and puts his arms around him, hugging him to his warm chest.

Sherlock curls his arms against John's warm chest. He's almost too warm, but that's okay. Sherlock likes the warmth. "Rosie would like this," he murmurs, not sure what else to say.

[captainwatson]

He chuckles a bit; "When I said I'd get her a puppy one day, I didn't mean me."

He tries to gently rub Sherlock's back.

"Thanks for trying...I don't think it's as simple as that though." he sighs; "...Or maybe I'm just past saving."

Sherlock huddles against John, grateful John probably can't feel the grooves and divots in imperfect skin.

"You are not... past saving. I believe in you." He says it with conviction.

[captainwatson]

He lets Sherlock go and skulks back a bit.

"It's not just how I look, Sherlock. I've felt like I've been...losing myself for a while. Not being the man I want to be. Remember what I did to you? At Culverton's hospital?"

[desecrated]

"My ribs still hurt sometimes," he says, thoughtlessly, not trying to make John feel bad, but he's being honest.

He hangs his head. "Sorry."
It was his fault. Being off his tits. Seeing things that weren't there...
He deserved... whatever he recieved from John.

[captainwatson]

"NO! DON'T APOLOGISE!" He snaps, all too quickly; "It was my fault! You were trying to save me and I was too bloody stupid to see it!"

He growls and slashes at one of the paintings on the wall.

"Don't, don't, John."
The bestial form probably doesn't help John's temper. That's probably what the baby senses. If he was .. easier about it, maybe?

He snarls back at Sherlock, his pupils dilating a bit.

"LOOK AT ME? WHAT DO YOU SEE?"

There's no way that Sherlock can love this.

Sherlock flinches back slightly.
"I see, a man who appears to be a giant beast."

He winces, sure that isn't the right thing to say.
Of course Sherlock loves him, he can't help but love him.

[captainwatson]

He nods; "Yes! Exactly! Maybe this is...what I really am..."

John turns, probably to shut himself away again.

[desecrated]

"That man I love the most in the world," Sherlock feels the need to add.
Despite how... much I do not deserve him...

[captainwatson]

"Why?...You deserve better than...a beast." John winces.

[desecrated]

Sherlock stares. John... does John love him back?
"I never thought of things like that."

I will never deserve you, beast or not.

[captainwatson]

"Maybe you should start. You're worth so much more than to be my punching bag. You're...perfect."

[desecrated]

"Addict," Sherlock retorts. "I... also have a variety of physical flaws that many would find repulsive."

[captainwatson]

"Like what?" He frowns. "Whatever they are can hardly compare to...this."

[desecrated]

Sherlock laughs mirthlessly and removes his shirt, letting his arms hang in front of him. It hurts. Maybe it should hurt, after all.
Victor said it wasn't good if it didn't hurt.

He meant the sexual... things of course.
"I'm hardly suitable for physical relationships, even if I did want..."

[captainwatson]

John frowns and reaches out, cautiously, to brush his furry paw against Sherlock's back.

"...When did you get those?"

[desecrated]

Sherlock flinches at the touch. John will probably see that ... without his shirt he has a floating rib that doesn't quite sit in where it should.

"In Srbija."

[captainwatson]

"But that was years ago! Why haven't they been treated?!" John almost fumes; "Why didn't you tell me? Christ...every time I've hurt you...I've been making it worse!"

[desecrated]

"I didn't see the point of healing only to face injury again. Besides, it ... it wasn't bad, initially, it just - looks bad."

He hangs his head, shaking a bit, moving to put his shirt back on, John shouldn't have to look at them, they're grotesque. "So you see, it's not like I could perform physically..."

"Do you even see who you're talking to? I'm an animal. I can't leave this place, let alone be with anyone..." He feels like crying; "I can't even look after my child."
