[ In some ways, it's strange to be around people again. It's been an on-going struggle, laden with daily affirmations that this is right, that it's okay, and that he's worthy of even trying. Paris, and the following catastrophe all those years ago had still taken something of a toll: while he had desperately grabbed at that sense of purpose being offered (desperate and seemingly recalcitrant all at once...fearful, even), and he clings to it still, parts of that whole event stuck. Words designed to cut instead burrowed into his skin, and he still has his doubts.

He isn't ever blameless, this much he knows, but the sting of that failure being shoved violently back in his face still lingers, cropping up occasionally like a particularly persistent haunting.

On the surface, however, everything seems fine. The school functions quietly as he'd always meant it to, and there's more security in it now too. Despite his doubts. Maybe even, in part, because of them. But it is, however, one of these moments of weakness (or is this, perhaps, lucidity?) that draws him to annoy Logan in later hours of the evening. ]

Okay he's super sneaky, he can do this. Like a ninja! And he knows where all the squeaky floor boards are in the snug little cabin, or at least he knows where most of them are, still he has to creep along just incase, feeling a little like Indiana Jones in that cool doom temple.

Matt seems none the wiser, or at least he hasn't turned from where he's settled in front of the old stone fireplace, so Danny continues along like a predator, biting his lip and holding his breath as he slowly lifts the blanket he absconded from the bedroom.

C l o s e r, until he can (and it's a bad idea in retrospect) tackle the unfortunate blind man down and wrap him up like a burrito.
