He hadn't meant for this to become ritual or habit, but that was just how fate played out, it seemed. Vergil had no reason to seek his brother out on most days, keeping his distance as he preferred. But then there were days where even he, the man content to be left to his own devices and thoughts, would become twistedly sentimental. There was no love lost between the two of them, certainly, but Vergil couldn't deny the almost gravitational pull between them, something that constantly urged them to pit themselves against one another.

So, yes, sometimes, he found himself returning to places he knew Dante to frequent, his eyes seeking out that familiar, infuriating swagger his twin perpetuated on a regular basis. He harbored such a distaste for everything he stood for, and yet there he was, waiting for him to appear.

And once he did, it didn't take much for Vergil to make himself known. Not that he felt he needed to; he was certain Dante already knew from the moment he set foot in the area. In this case, it was in a particularly run down part of town, not far from where Dante set up shop. Vergil made no attempt at banter, content to swoop down at his brother with a swift and precise motion, sword bared.

It was almost uncanny how easily the mere presence of his twin seemed to upturn every aspect of Dante's life, certainly it was disturbing. Even a reminder of Vergil could set Dante on edge, and it seemed that his brother was no longer content to merely taunt Dante from the shadows. At least for today. Although Dante wasn't precisely sure when he became aware of Vergil's presence, some infernal sense pinged off the gravity of what he could only assume was his brother's ire. It was scarce warning, but galvanized the blunt upstroke of Rebellion to meet Yamato in a shriek of steel.

"What?" he quipped, "Not even a hello, how've you been, first?" The words were out of his mouth even before that cocky, obnoxious grin could settle into the corner of it, and Dante shoved his heavier blade more directly into the clash of their swords.

"Bro, I'm hurt," he chided, not even bothering to feign the part. While by no means accustomed to his taciturn brother's mannerisms, Dante had learned enough of them not to expect anything less than confrontation with his twin. All they ever did was fight, whether with swords or words or fists, it didn't matter. He couldn't explain why it had to be that way anymore than he could explain the pulse of adrenaline that kicked up whenever he caught site of his caustic twin.
