It's a splendid night for a party!

You received an invitation to a masquerade party and after wondering who exactly throws these things anymore outside of people in Italy and the strange people in that Vanilla Sky movie, you've decided to attend! Decked out in your best (or maybe not so best - it may have been last minute, after all), you descend on the party and prepare to make it a night to remember.

Is it your friend's annual Halloween party with a twist? Perhaps you're an international spy, trying to find out the best way to steal the Crown Jewels. Maybe this is part of Spirit Week at your high school and you really wish that your classmates would be more creative next time.

Elaborate Venetian, playful animals, dazzling supernatural creatures - the night is young. Have fun.

This is not a RNG meme. Your characters' role and situation is entirely up to you. "But how do you play?" you might ask. It's as simple as 1, 2, 3!

1.) Post with your character. In the subject line, type of your character's name and canon. If you'd like, in the comment section, you can describe what mask/costume your character is wearing.
2.) Tag around! This is a party after all, and your character can't find any of their usual crew behind their masks (or maybe they can and need to tease them mercilessly for their choice of costume).
3.) Profit!

[ One might try and pull lasciviousness, or even suggestiveness from that tone, but really-- Megamind sounded bewildered. Who the hell named their kid after a candy bar? ]

Ahuh. [ Look, she totally believes you. Look at that face. ] I'm surprised you haven't just stomped off the dance floor, if you think dancing is so stupid.

"'Course I will!" Following him up the stairs, she pauses before leading him to one of the sitting rooms up there. It should be reasonably deserted, though they could always retire to one of the guest rooms if others kept interfering.

"Right!" Releasing his arm, she moves over to shove one of the sofas out of the way, cleaning a space that should hopefully give them enough room to move. "How 'bout this~?"

Well, it wasn't exactly like they were at a high school party where the kids would go up to the rooms to make out, right? Such things haven't been though of yet! Instead they were all just hanging out and talking about boring things. Things that would probably make Alfred fall asleep.

But he was still a little surprised when shoved the couch out of the way. "That's perfect!" He thinks, this should be enough space, right? They didn't exactly have a whole horde of people in here. Or anyone to play a bit of music for them, either. So it should be fine~! "Alright, get ready to learn some awesome dance moves!"

Music would be nice, but Julchen assumes that the American can just hum something; otherwise, she'll just be playing her own German folk music in her head, likely.

She's actually faintly excited about this -- it's something new! And even if it were silly, that just meant she'd take it home and force West to learn it, tell him all the fancy sophisticated countries were doing it, kesesese~

"I'm ready! Where'd you want me to stand?"

Well of course he would! It's just that it might be a tad bit hard for him to do so, and dance at the same time. Mostly do to the fact that both still required quite a bit of concentration. But that wouldn't deter him from doing his best! "Okay! Just go ahead and follow my lead! It's pretty easy to learn the steps!"

In truth he was just going to show her a bit of basic steps, which might evolve into something somewhere in between. But whatever was easiest to start out with! Granted that most of those steps would most likely not have any connection to each other. But it was all just going to be for the fun of it~! And if she was going to show it to Germany, then all the better.

"Got it~" Humming with more than a little amusement, she stands near him, holding her arms away from her body to make it easier for him to position her however she needed to be to start. Was it going to be a formal dance like a waltz, was it going to be a super-fun dance like in a circle? Was it originally British? She's practically bouncing on her heels with excitement as she waits for the name and type of dance to be revealed~

"Not sure if ya ever heard of it, but the dance I had in mind was Contra." Of course normally you would need a huge group of people for it. But he figured that it was such a simple dance that they could do it by themselves. Plus it was a pretty popular dance once...though he wasn't certain how popular it was in Prussia-Germany.

Her face screws up in contemplation as she tries to figure out if she's ever heard of it before, but... nope, drawing a total blank, so she shakes her head. Well, it was American after all, and usually things that weren't from the continent tended to be on the Not Awesome side. But she's willing to give it a shot~

"So what do I hafta do?"

Oh? How very low-class. How did you get into such a swank party, then, grubby-finger? Are you supposed to be Cinderella, the coal-girl? [ Yeah, he's ... kind of a dick. ]

"Lensherr. Erik Lensherr." He hadn't yet been told to use an alias, and so he wasn't going to. Likely he'd still use his name even if someone did tell him he should use an alias. Which wasn't to say he hadn't used one before, he did frequently enough, but only when there was an actual danger associated with being himself.

Not something he was suspecting would happen here, and certainly not now.

For as much as Clint liked improvising things, and didn't like planning too far ahead, and for that matter, didn't like getting involved for more than a quick strike, he was surprisingly good at plotting, and almost-theatrical blocking. He knew right where they needed to be for optimal line-of-sight and it only took to the first turn to get them there.

He spun her easily, it wasn't strictly necessary, but he knew that he wouldn't get another chance anytime soon and he was going to make the most of it. He leaned close then, voice just a murmur, "Laugh, I just told you something hilarious." They were already being watched, he knew, but the laugh would be better bait than anything else.

"Not even remotely sure." He replied cheerfully, before popping it into his mouth and chewing carefully, head tilted in thought, as if assessing the tidbit for edibility. He shrugged once he'd swallowed, "Edible, I suppose, and not terrible, but not exactly what I'd call 'good'."

"Er, well..." He thought for a moment as to how they were going to do this. Of course if he heard her thoughts then he would have thought of a way to go about this faster. American things were so awesome! They came from his people after all! And since he's awesome the things he makes is awesome! But after a few more moments of pause he decided to go with the most obvious, first step.

"Well...can I have your hand?"

"Sure!" Unabashedly, she reaches one white-gloved hand out to take his, humming to herself. Alright, this seemed pretty easy so far~ "Though you know, if this whole dance-thing was an excuse to hold my hand, ahaha, you could've just asked earlier~"

Her cheeks dimple in another grin as she turns to face him, still keeping her hand in his. "Now what~?"

[nonsense] Just shut up and dance, beautiful.

[ WOW RUDE. ] As you wish.

[unfortunately. but at least he looks sheepish] No, but you do. And I like it when you smile.

"It's easy~!" He moved to try and pull Maria closer towards his body before moving a hand towards the middle of her back. "Just need ya to put your hand on either my arm or my back now." Once again, simple, the only problem was that the dance required a lot of moving and switching partners. But Alfred figured that he could compensate for such a thing...somehow. Maybe through showing her how to do the switch.

"Then all ya gotta do is follow my steps and cues!" The best way to learn a folk dance really was just through mixing things up with your partner, and watching the more experienced dancers.
