Dating...isn't what you'd consider the two of you doing. You're just close. Close enough to spend time together, do things you both enjoy, eat together, talk about problems, cuddle, and kiss, possibly. And you don't do most of these things with other people.

Okay, so maybe you are dating. But do you need to disclose this fact to everyone else, or at least acknowledge it amongst yourselves -

If you even realize it, that is. It's possible this whole "a couple" status has snuck up on you. Theoretically, at least.

Camping. They were actually freaking camping. Like tourists. When had that happened? In all his years Dean had never camped anywhere, not even once. Oh, he knew how it worked. You put up a tent, you slept in a sleeping bag, you ate smores and canned beans and shit in the woods like a bear. Sometimes traditional deer and fish hunters camped. Sometimes it was a teenager thing, an excuse to get out from the parents' basements and sleep with someone without other people hearing you over the thump from the tumble drier. Something like that, anyway. Except frankly, people who camped in the woods were fucking nuts. Bad stuff liked it out in the woods. Nobody who knew even half of what might be out in the woods would go out in the woods for pleasure.

Dean wasn't out here for pleasure, though. They were out here cause there was a goddamn wendigo out here hunting people, and they were bait.

And Sam? Sam had brought two tents. He'd sprung up what turned out to be his own one man tent in two seconds flat, thrown his sleeping bag inside and closed the zip-door behind him, leaving Dean with a pile of poles, a roll of canvas, and all the rest of the gear, standing stupidly beside Cas, who was their backup in case the wendigo ripped their guts out with a single slash of its claws.

Still, Dean had no idea how this was supposed to work, and he was in the midst of complaining about it pitifully when Sam shouted out to them from inside the tent: "Ask your boyfriend to help. It's his tent too."

And Dean glanced at Cas and faltered. His boyfriend? And then he realized...he's missed the window to yell at Sam that he was wrong. Missed it pretty much completely.
