{ road trip!! }
It's that time of the year! You decided to take a road trip!
Either to your friends, relative, or perhaps an event,
but oh, my goodness, what will happen along the way?
• Post with your character name/fandom/options preferences.
• Use RNG to pick your possible scenario - or just go with what you'd like most.
• Reply to other people's tags. Use RNG, mix and match, or just wing it!
• Enjoy!
Situations:
1. BREAK DOWN
- Oh, snap, your car decided to break down out in the middle of nowhere. WHAT DO? Is that Leatherface? Will this be "Children of the Corn"?
- You've stopped at a gas station. They're out of gas, snacks and the bathrooms are out of order. Wat do. (Zombie attack optional.)
- Is this even a good idea? Why is their backpack leaking suspicious substances? Go wild.
- Dude, I hear deer mess up cars... or I think that was a deer.
- Alas, you're the parent or the disgruntled friend who has had it up to here with all the fighting in the back.
- No, no, and no. You tell that person that they're going to be driven around and they're going to like it.
- Either dinosaurs or the mothman is chasing you. Don't stop now.
- You're now parked in one of the make-out points in this town. Did you know? Well, that's up to you, as is what you do next.
- The map blew away when you were stupid enough to open the windows earlier. You know that old stereotype about how men never ask for directions but women will? Time to see if you're going to prove it right or not. Try not to fight over it too much, driving partners.
- Those flashing lights in your rearview mirror? Definitely not just for decoration.
Relationship (optional):
1. BUSINESS PARTNERS: The jet was undergoing some heavy repairs, so you have to drive to that big meeting.
2. BFFS/ROOMIES: On your last hurrah before you join the 'real world.'
3. NEWLYWEDS: You're a young couple on your honeymoon! Hope this doesn't ruin your relationship.
4. SIBLINGS: Whether this is a trip to reconnect or to fix things or to just deepen your bond as epic sibs is up to you.
5. PARENT & CHILD: It's like a family vacation for the two of you. try not to get on each other's nerves too much?

Is there a bed I can pass out on when we finally get to the house?
no subject
Will it now? I hardly think Mummy would be so inconsiderate. Unless Sherlock plans to destroy her cooking. It would be very petty.
You can't pass out when you get here. I'm bored. SH.

[John relaxes back in the seat, letting his posture go slack]
What am I going to do to entertain you?
no subject
[Mycroft eyes John hawkishly, trying to lean over to see his phone's screen.]
Think of something while you're waiting for the tow. Check for murders in the area. SH.
no subject
[John doesn't care if Mycroft sees.]
Sex? ;) But yes, I will check for murders

[The pass flies entirely over Sherlock's head and off into the hills of the countryside. Mycroft simply scoffs quietly when he sees John's response.]
You could also walk back to the petrol station we passed some three miles ago to see if they might call a local towing service. [Even on his phone, Mycroft had managed to pay some level of attention to their surroundings.]
no subject
I could yes. But, I know you can take care of yourself. But I'd rather not leave you alone. Just in case.
[He glanced at Mycroft. While they butt heads, there was some form of respect somewhere, from their time on Sherrinford together]

[There's a brief pause before another message comes through.]
Oh. Really, John? They've set you up with a room with Rosie. I hardly think now is the time to be thinking of libidos. It's next to Mycroft's room. He should enjoy hearing her all night, no doubt.
[Mycroft looks a little surprised, for his part, by John's comments.]
Do you imagine the werecats will leap from the forest? I hardly think I'll be in more danger than we are now.
no subject
[Johns shrugs a bit and smiles.]
No. But there are other things, no doubt, that are in the forest surrounding us that pose a risk.
no subject
I hardly think my parent's house during Christmas is the place or time to be looking into that, John.
Perhaps once we're home...
[He's stopped signing his texts, at least, which means he's paying more attention to them.]
Such as?
[Mycroft's prompt is mildly incredulous.]
The roaming brethren of the elk you nearly killed?
no subject
When will we discuss this Sherlock? Once we return to London, real life will descend.
I don't know. But there is probably something. I don't fancy either of us meeting it.
no subject
[Mycroft is growing very tired of this. He sits back in his own seat and stares out at the darkness.]
Shouldn't we at least pull the car off to the side of the road? That is, I believe, customary to avoid causing another accident.
In due course. Mummy's calling for me to come play with Rosie. Get here soon.
no subject
I will. See you, Rosie and your parents soon
[He glances over to Mycroft and then away. This is going to be a long hour]
no subject
[Mycroft's not going to be the one to push.]
no subject
We could. But we will have to be careful. My shoulder isn't back up to full strength.
[It had been mildly reinjured during the incident at Sherrinford]
no subject
Of course. You're still the stronger out of the pair of us, John.
no subject
[John shifts the car into neutral and gets out. He walks around to the back of the car and waits]
no subject
[Mycroft steps out of the passenger side, massaging his chest lightly for a moment where the strap caught him on their collision with the elk. He moves over to the driver's side and takes up a position behind the wheel.]
I'm ready when you are.
[It will take some effort to get the car moving from a dead stand-still, but if John can manage that, it will roll along easily enough with Mycroft pulling into the grass just on the side of the road.]
no subject
Together they manage to get the car to the side of the road.]
no subject
Very good, John. How is your shoulder?
no subject
Sore.
no subject
I believe you'll find pain relief among the supplies in this. Was it really so difficult?
no subject
This car is probably almost 2,000 kilos... Even in neutral, it's difficult to push by yourself.
no subject
But to be polite, he should make some conversation beyond that.]
John. What would you say is your favorite dish at the Christmas dinner table? I'm certain it can be arranged for to make up for the current difficulties in some small measure.
no subject
Mycroft. Shut up.
