Prompts
01. PURCHASE. Congratulations on purchasing your new synth! Please follow all instructions at start-up to ensure that your synth securely bonds to you as its primary user.

02. DOMESTIC. Your synth is the perfect addition to the family home. Primary functions include cleaning, cooking and childcare.

03. HEALTH. Synths are invaluable help for the sick, the disabled and the elderly, providing around-the-clock care for those who need it.

04. ADULT. Unlock the 18+ options in your synth to discover a whole new range of exciting features.

05. HACK. Common modifications to synth programming include the ability to simulate pain, personality alterations and removing safeguards such as the inability to harm humans. Warning: Illegal modification of your synth could invalidate your warranty.

The first time that Elizabeth sees him she knows. She was once in the same position, after all, undercover while she waited, and she knows what it's like to be sold and used and to pretend there's nothing going on behind your eyes.

She saw it in that flicker. She walked through that Synth brothel and saw it in his eyes. Pain. Despair. Even if no one else could ever see, she saw.

She put herself on this part of New York as part of the Awakening because she knows it better than anyone. This is where she herself woke up, this is where most of her memories lie. Very few of them are good, but it's all the more reason for her to come back now. Now that she's aware, awake, and fighting.

She puts in her contacts one evening, pockets some cash, and goes to the brothel to ask: "I saw a Synth in here last time-- the one with the haircut?"

Utena never really saw the point in Synths. It felt like people just used Synths for their housework or to watch over their kids and old folk. But why couldn't a human do that? And they would probably do it better, too. It's that Utena hated Synths, though, it was just... well, they weren't supposed to think, right? They didn't think and they didn't feel. What made them any different than a walking, talking doll?

She rarely thought too deeply on it, though. Sometimes people owned Synths, sometimes people didn't. She just wouldn't buy one for herself. Besides, it's not like she could afford one on her allowance, anyway.

...which didn't explain the package at her dorm. At first she thought it had to be some kind mistake. She certainly didn't order this Synth, and she couldn't think of anyone who'd order it for her. A few phone calls confirmed that it was no mistake; this Synth was made for her. However, who sent it remained a mystery.

"Maybe it's a joke," she murmurs to herself. "It's one pricey prank, though..."

She sighs and scratches the back of her head as she looks over her "gift". The Synth is still lying back down in its padded metal case, its eyes closed and its arms crossed over its chest - no, no, that isn't right. Her eyes are closed. Utena bends over to get a closer look, whistling as she notices just how lifelike her face is. She looks almost like a princess out of some kind of fairy tale, like Snow White waiting to be woken up by her prince.

Assuming she wakes up at all. Utena's half tempted to leave her in the case, but she frowns when she considers it. That's not really fair, is it? Sure, she might not be human, but she still looks it. She bites her bottom lip, before she takes a deep breath and reaches for the instruction manual.

"Okay, first remove the cover..."

She presses a button at the side of the case the Synth arrived in, allowing the clear lid to slide off easily.

"Now for the keyword... hmn..."

Ah, there it is. She squints and purses her lips together, thinking that it's kind of weird. It feels more like a sci-fi gimmick than something real, but she doesn't question it. She's gotten this far, so she might as well see if it works.

"Alright... Unit R0-53, awaken?"

He's transgressively non-compliant, and puts himself before the Laws without batting an eye; clearly the product of some highly illicit, incredibly experimental design that was somehow let loose on the world. Ego, selfishness, pride, and and the will to fight tooth and nail to continue his existence -- it's almost like he's a person.

Human | As the son of billionaire Bruce Wayne and an avid engineer, of course he'd get to QA the latest models that WayneTech has to offer. Or perhaps he picked up a discarded Persona unit, started tinkering for the hell of it. A troubled kid like him looks to the company of animals and machines.

The company that had originally designed her was based out of Japan, typical for robots as unsettlingly realistic as she was.

Of course that same company was now under investigation because hackers had turned their robots into tools for looting and general mayhem. This unit in fact was one Damian had taken out himself. But that was all in the past now and with a spark here, a twitch there she was ready for a test drive.

A soft almost impossible to hear hum.

Her eyes fluttered open and head rose scanning the room before settling on her owner.

- Mixing 2 with 5, in that she'd hire a domestic synth and then maybe need to let off steam and hack (or get Winn to hack) the no-harm-to-humans thing so she could spar with the synth. But she wouldn't let it feel pain bc Kara.

- Any of that, or not, with 3 and Kara could program it with Kryptonian intel or have it on call as the Baymax to her big hero DEO+ extras crew for canonmates (or non-canonmates who wanna get shoehorned in or WHATEVER).

- the adult option is always a go, but she would have to really deliberate it first bc she'd feel SO GUILTY.

I'm not married to any of these, so if you have an idea, come at me. I'm trying to jump back into RP after Intense Illness, so I'll probably be slow. I'm open to writing starters, etc. etc. Feel free to use any of these as a jumping point or set something in your canon and I'll roll like no motherfucker knows.]

The first thing Android can remember seeing is Kara's face. Blond hair, blue eyes, a concerned expression. It triggers something in her emotional subroutines that she can't immediately quantify, but it makes her want to like the young woman at once. Little does either of them know that a prior owner secretly altered her programming, enabling empathy emulators to become dominant over her other, logic-based functions. A piece of code, embedded deep in her emotional subroutines, which--unlike her memory cache--has not been affected by the reboot.

She has no memory prior to her activation by Kara, but she is a retired security model designed for use on board interstellar transport; reset to factory defaults, and sold to Kara second-hand. The data is still there, buried in her--for lack of a better term--subconscious, apparently inaccessible. As far as as she, or her new owner are aware, she is a blank slate, awaiting her first set of instructions as she comes online.

In all honesty, he never minded synthetics all that much. Hell, he knew they were a great help and did jobs better than humans with far less errors. What he didn't like was being told he had to have an assistant at all times. And of course, the corporation he worked for was just damn eager to saddle him with a company synth. No offense to synthetics, but he quickly told them he would find his own, thanks. (Though, what he really wanted to say was enough to get him fired, so he bit his tongue.)

Trouble was, he had no clue where or what to start with. So his good friend and engineer savvy friend turned out to be his best bet. In fact, he'd found the synth his friend set him up with work with was more than satisfactory and well, he honestly wasn't so stiff like the others. Just somethin' about him seemed more fluid.

Needless to say, he found it easy to settle into a pattern with "Jim" and pretty much drug the android with him everywhere. He had for weeks now. The odd part was that he liked talking to Jim as well. Funny how that worked out.

Casting a class at the blonde, he tipped his head. "Could you pack up my medical supplies for me?" He always asked. Never assumed. It got a good many glances, but he paid them no mind. And after making an 'office' call to check on a sick corporate higher up, he just wanted to get out of the building and back to his own office and lab. Signing off the paperwork, he sent a copy of the diagnosis and treatment to the man finishing up.

He didn't like sucking up, but they funded his medical studies without complaint as long as he worked as a company doctor. But god if he didn't hate how much crap they made him do using doctor-patient confidentiality against him. And that was starting to get under his skin. Felt like a damn soap opera is what it felt like. Which was why the moment the business man stepped out, his shoulders sagged and he instantly groused. "The hell was I thinkin' when I decided to work with these assholes? All the damn drama and secrets."
