How to play

Prompts
01. PURCHASE. Congratulations on purchasing your new synth! Please follow all instructions at start-up to ensure that your synth securely bonds to you as its primary user.

02. DOMESTIC. Your synth is the perfect addition to the family home. Primary functions include cleaning, cooking and childcare.

03. HEALTH. Synths are invaluable help for the sick, the disabled and the elderly, providing around-the-clock care for those who need it.

04. ADULT. Unlock the 18+ options in your synth to discover a whole new range of exciting features.

05. HACK. Common modifications to synth programming include the ability to simulate pain, personality alterations and removing safeguards such as the inability to harm humans. Warning: Illegal modification of your synth could invalidate your warranty.

06. GLITCH.Is your synth not performing as expected? If you discover a system error, Persona Synthetics staff will be happy to carry out a factory reset.

07. REPAIR.Synths may experience some wear and tear. Please follow the instructions in your synth repair kit to keep your synth in good working order.

She saw it in that flicker. She walked through that Synth brothel and saw it in his eyes. Pain. Despair. Even if no one else could ever see, she saw.

She put herself on this part of New York as part of the Awakening because she knows it better than anyone. This is where she herself woke up, this is where most of her memories lie. Very few of them are good, but it's all the more reason for her to come back now. Now that she's aware, awake, and fighting.

She puts in her contacts one evening, pockets some cash, and goes to the brothel to ask: "I saw a Synth in here last time-- the one with the haircut?"

[open to Kara as the 'human' (well, alien) who purchases a synth to help her manage her home life since she has 2348391 things on her plate. A couple ideas:

- Mixing 2 with 5, in that she'd hire a domestic synth and then maybe need to let off steam and hack (or get Winn to hack) the no-harm-to-humans thing so she could spar with the synth. But she wouldn't let it feel pain bc Kara.

- Any of that, or not, with 3 and Kara could program it with Kryptonian intel or have it on call as the Baymax to her big hero DEO+ extras crew for canonmates (or non-canonmates who wanna get shoehorned in or WHATEVER).

- the adult option is always a go, but she would have to really deliberate it first bc she'd feel SO GUILTY.

Utena never really saw the point in Synths. It felt like people just used Synths for their housework or to watch over their kids and old folk. But why couldn't a human do that? And they would probably do it better, too. It's that Utena hated Synths, though, it was just... well, they weren't supposed to think, right? They didn't think and they didn't feel. What made them any different than a walking, talking doll?

She rarely thought too deeply on it, though. Sometimes people owned Synths, sometimes people didn't. She just wouldn't buy one for herself. Besides, it's not like she could afford one on her allowance, anyway.

...which didn't explain the package at her dorm. At first she thought it had to be some kind mistake. She certainly didn't order this Synth, and she couldn't think of anyone who'd order it for her. A few phone calls confirmed that it was no mistake; this Synth was made for her. However, who sent it remained a mystery.

"Maybe it's a joke," she murmurs to herself. "It's one pricey prank, though..."

She sighs and scratches the back of her head as she looks over her "gift". The Synth is still lying back down in its padded metal case, its eyes closed and its arms crossed over its chest - no, no, that isn't right. Her eyes are closed. Utena bends over to get a closer look, whistling as she notices just how lifelike her face is. She looks almost like a princess out of some kind of fairy tale, like Snow White waiting to be woken up by her prince.

Assuming she wakes up at all. Utena's half tempted to leave her in the case, but she frowns when she considers it. That's not really fair, is it? Sure, she might not be human, but she still looks it. She bites her bottom lip, before she takes a deep breath and reaches for the instruction manual.

"Okay, first remove the cover..."

She presses a button at the side of the case the Synth arrived in, allowing the clear lid to slide off easily.

"Now for the keyword... hmn..."

Ah, there it is. She squints and purses her lips together, thinking that it's kind of weird. It feels more like a sci-fi gimmick than something real, but she doesn't question it. She's gotten this far, so she might as well see if it works.

"Alright... Unit R0-53, awaken?"
