Be there to comfort you
![]() meme Bruised. Beaten. Stabbed. Sapped of energy. Tricked. Mentally played and abused. Perhaps you've even seen your home world destroyed, depending on how Homestuck you are. Any way you slice it, characters go through a lot of crap. There's nothing wrong with wanting to see them get pampered and taken care of when they're ailing. In canon, they may not have someone who can provide them with care when they're injured, support and love when they're sick, and physical intimacy all around. In this post, AU or other scenarios can provide them with a caretaking partner of their very own (or, maybe, someone to take care of, if the reverse is their preference). So, for once, weary traveler, you don't have to carry that weight all by yourself. | |||

With the pair of them now on board, the ship was ready to set off to head back to Gibraltar. Lucio looks up at Reinhardt as he briefly puts on that boastful air and is quick to jest back at him to keep up appearances, all the while making their way towards the most secluded area of the ship.] Are you kidding me? Those dusty 'n old, dated tunes at my concert? I think you took one too many hits to your helmet, old man.
[It's just some playful ribbing for show, but Lucio does keep a mental note. No doubt that having Reinhardt see him perform would be an extremely special occasion, so he'll definitely set aside some time and resources to make it extra enjoyable for him. Even if it did mean actually listening to True Survivor and other "classics" in his free time...
Once they reach the empty seats in the back near the equipment, Lucio remains standing and watches Reinhardt seat himself down first. The air around them becomes quiet save for the humming of the ship's inner-workings and faint murmuring from their comrades' conversations elsewhere on the ship. The medic places a hand on the crusader's armored shoulder and speaks gently.] You might feel better if you take your helmet off. I won't let anyone bother you. [He suggests it but doesn't push him too much.] Want me to get you some water or anything?

He still breathes out a small sigh and considers for a moment. Lucio might not be an unmovable object like he can be when he sets his feet, but he's almost just as bad when he's stubborn. There was no one he's ever met who is so adamantly pigheaded about the things he wants. He finds that cute and right now he knows that if Lucio says no one will bother him then no one will.
Slowly, he pulls his helmet back off and puts it down. He reaches for the fasteners of his armor. But his hands fumble a little. He swallows a little and whispers softly. ] Help me take it off? I don't think I can do it on my own. It's just...really heavy right now. [ It's the weight of the memories tied into the armor that makes it so. ]

Ah, yeah. Yeah, of course, querido. [He responds gently and nods before reaching up to help Reinhardt out of his armor. He starts with the pauldrons, removing one after the other with a slight bit of strain because, well, they're heavy and he's more known for being agile and nimble than physically strong. Once they're off to the side, he then starts to help with the fasteners of the breastplate, but doesn't try to remove it by himself because he'd either drop it or fall over trying not to.
He's never really taken a close look at his armor since if Reinhardt was in it there were more pressing matters at hand, but now the medic is able to observe the wear on it. It's much like looking at the battle scars on his older lover's body, which made sense since the metal was like his second skin.]
Have you always used this armor? Can't believe something would stay in one piece for so long...

It's a start though. He can at least relax a little more. In any other moment, he might have even found it enjoyable, to have his love help him with his armor. A knight returning to his liege lord. He is glad Lucio is careful with it. ]
Not always, no. When Overwatch was active the first time, I was given a blue one. It was very nice. But when I was forced to retire, I couldn't take any of the armors the UN had issued to me. All I had was this. [ He places his hand on the breastplate as he sets it aside carefully. ] It's been with me 30 years. It's all I have left... [ His voice wavers and he has to swallow another flood of tears before they come. He forces himself to focus on the damage that sits on it. ] Brigitte is the one to thank for it. For keeping it together and nice for me. I owe her a great deal that I'll never be able to repay.
[ He looks up at Lucio then. ] Is it foolish? To keep wearing it? I could ask Winston and Torb and I am certain they would make me or find me newer armor.

Their gazes meet and he shakes his head in response to Reinhardt's question.] It's held up all this time and shows no signs of breaking, right? So, nah, I don't think it's foolish to keep using it.
[He glances away to the breastplate Reinhardt had set aside, again looking over all the battle wear.] I guess a newer set of armor would probably be easier to upkeep, might even have some new bells and whistles to make your job easier on the field... but it's not going to have all that history or the memories.
But you gotta let that history inspire you to move forward, not let those regrets haunt you and weigh you down. [He looks at Reinhardt again and offers a small smile.] Wearing all that metal has to be heavy enough already, right?
no subject
Just like you, ja? Moving forward. An inspiration to everyone who hears your music. An inspiration to me. Again you are right. It is just hard right now. Not to let it hurt. Not to let the weight pull me down. I never wanted to go back there and see that place. If I can, I never want to go back there ever again. It's too much. If you were not here today, I don't think I would have made it though. [ Physically yes, but without his little lover, Reinhardt might have come back from this mission too broken to function properly. ]
And it is heavy. Why do you think I train every day I can? It is because I am the last who will wear this and I can't let it become so much that I can't stand tall while it in. This is what my brothers would have wanted, yes? For me to stand tall and be proud. Just...not so tall that I can't hold you like this.

I can't imagine the pain, especially after being back there... but I know it's hard for you. Just know that I'm here when it gets to be too much. I'll always be here for you, meu amor. [He pulls back just a bit as he turns his head to plant a kiss on Reinhardt's temple.] I'll be beside you as you move forward.
[Smiling with a soft sigh, Lucio leans against Reinhardt again and nuzzles into him.] Yes, stand tall and proud... and be happy. And don't worry about me, I can find a ladder or some boxes to stand on so you don't have to bend too low. Or I'll just jump into your arms. [Not that he has ever done that before. ... okay, yeah, he has. He is a frog, after all, and Reinhardt has some very strong and inviting arms.]
no subject
ready to pull him back on track.
He even feels the smallest of smiles. It's a weak thing, not like his usual wild grins. But it sits there, given to him by the man he loves so much. ] I think...you would need every box in this transport. It would be best to keep hopping, Mein kleiner Frosch. I will catch you as you catch me. [ That said, he doesn't seem to want to move from this position. It doesn't matter if his back hurts for days after. Right now, all he wants is to keep hold of Lucio. Hold him and soak in his calming and healing presence. ]
