And certainly neither of them expected Kamui being pierced from behind with a sword, back to chest, straight through the heart.

Cherryblod is smiling when Kamui collapses, but it's not at all a nice smile.]

[ He'd come to in a dark basement room. Whatever spells and potions had kept him docile and kept had worn off. The evil man who'd stolen him away, kept him prisoner while he stole his face... was gone. Graves kicked his way out of the locked room and ran up the stairs, only to find the building above in ruins. He ran out to the street, but the rest of the block was torn asunder as well. Witless and wandless, the only thing Graves can think to do is to make his way to the Woolworth Building and try to get a handle on the situation.

Things are worse than he thought. Half of New York is gone in waves of rubble and torn steel. The Woolworth Building is the only thing standing, with a swirling cloud of inky black dust crowding its upper floors. Inside, dead witches and wizards litter the floor. Graves grabs the first wand he sees, and heads for the roof.

When he emerges into the storm, his worst fears are confirmed. This is the work of an obscurus, one that's grown so powerful it's taken out most of Manhattan. There, hovering in the air above him, is a young man, the center of it all. Graves arms himself and calls out, ] Stop this!

[ It hurts. It's always hurt in a way, crawling under his skin and at the back of his skull, but this is different. This is being ripped apart into a million tiny pieces all over again, mentally, emotionally, and physically. Lied to. All lies. Once let loose the Obscurus inside him had run rampant, leveling as much of the city as it could. That hurts too - and he's so tired.

He's so tired and he wants to stop but he doesn't know how. Those Aurors had tried to kill him and the Obscurus had lashed out accordingly. The ache of it rolls down his spine (does he even have a spine anymore?)

Credence can feel his entire being, the entire Obscurus, burning to rip apart the man before him. It's-- ]

You lied to me. [ It sounds like an exhausted hiss from the storm of magic rather than an enraged roar.

Credence wonders if his magic is going to kill him after all. He'd deserve it, he thinks: his mother was right. His magic is dangerous and evil. But so is the man that treated him like...

He doesn't register that it's a different man, that it's not someone who built him up, took from him, and broke his trust. ]

You lied to me.

[ He is, at least, able to somehow form the shape of a person, albeit hunched over and far away from Graves. It's just that the magic, the Obscurus, is still whipping around him like dangerous coils ready to strike. ]

You said you could help me. You said you could make it stop.
