Some guys... um, from both mine and another unit. Sorry, I *really* wasn't gonna do it but
sorry
[He really hates it when someone manages to get under his skin - he knows he's better than that, but they'd managed to hit on some sore spots and... yeah. He wasn't a coward.]
[ Nope, just the shitbirds who decided this was a good idea. ]
did they say they'd do something if you didn't do it?
[ Because he can't really see Cloud just... doing something like this for kicks. It's pretty harmless and annoying. But if there was bullying going on behind it... ]
[The jabs about how he was a weak coward he could take (okay, it'd started to rankle towards the end), but the very pointed comments about the quality of his friendship with the big, bad First Class SOLDIER if he ~couldn't take a joke~ had been what had actually set Cloud off.
Right into doing what they'd wanted him to, because Zack wasn't like that. Well. He hoped. He wouldn't blame him if he wouldn't want anything to do with him after this, honestly.]
I'll make sure to get rid of it as much as possible, don't worry Zack.
no one said they'd *do something* if I didn't do it, zack.
[It takes another few minutes after that response before;]
... just that you wouldn't be able to take the prank.
[Which is true but doesn't really explain anything. Not that he's about to repeat what they said. But maybe now is when that hammer he keeps expecting will fall.]
I can take a prank alright. what I don't take is anyone pushing you into doing anything you don't wanna do. and from the sound of it it doesn't really sound like something you wanted to do if you're apologizing to me like this.
[ Come on, Spike. He can figure out that much. This isn't usually your style of things, after all. ]
I don't have to go anywhere for another hour. why don't you come over to my room?
[... apparently he revealed more than he intended. Or Zack already knows him better than he thought which... well, that's (really) nice but right now that just makes him feel worse. And there's no way he can respond to this and not make it even more clear he didn't do this willingly.]
[ The most adult of adults. Or at least he can attempt to be, right? Either way, Zack wasn't really gonna take no for an answer. He waits impatiently inside his room as he gathers the last few things for his mission. It's not a long one at least, but the glitter got him a bit behind on packing. ]
[It takes a little longer than it usually would for Cloud to get there - considering he has nothing until two hours later, he was just... procrastinating. But in the end he's right in front of the door and only hesitates a little before he knocks on the door.
He still hasn't come up with a good not-exactly-a-lie way to spin what happened last night, because he doesn't... He should've been stronger than that. Should've defended Zack better than ending up agreeing to the prank to show them wrong, that Zack wouldn't care.
And obviously he doesn't, except he does. And in a way Cloud hadn't expected. In a way that makes him feel more awful about doing this at all... and maybe a little awed.]
it's a nice contrast isn't it one confessing the other not
