little steps No matter how much they care for the other person and want to be with them, some people simply can't dive head first into relationships. Little things that form intimacy and romance, little acts we take for granted - being close, holding hands, kissing, showing affection in public - they won't or can't do...at least not right off the bat. Something in their past, their experiences, their trauma, or even their personality holds them back. For both them and the person they're "dating," as it were, this can lead to a frustrating experience. Still, steps can be taken towards letting the walls fall down. Little, tiny steps, but those can mean the world all the same. The People One With the help of a partner, one person warms up. Two Both sides of this couple are learning how to be in a relationship and to be open. The Actions Talking → A relationship can't exist if there's not some communication, so either learn to use your words or become so close you can speak without them. Spending Time → Even such mundane occurrences as watching TV or cooking together is new ground. Touching → You might just find you enjoy reaching out and touching them. Kissing → Another kind of touch, when you think about it. Cuddling → ...at least they're warm and, hopefully, soft. Sleeping → You're at your absolute weakest when you're asleep. It shows trust to doze off around this person. Public Display → It's one thing to be in love in private, but showing you care in public is a different story. Kind Words → Three little words (more or less) are all it takes. Why, then, are they so hard to get out? Sex → The ultimate stumbling block to some. To be laid blissfully bare is to truly let your guard down.

Sleeping/Talking

Ren hadn't meant to pass out at Noiz's apartment. Hell, he'd had no idea that he even could. He thought he couldn't lower his guard enough, and it took until he was actively dreaming for him to realize what had happened. It'd been a long day. His coil had blown up with messages and ignored call notification once his parents found his number. He had them blocked now, but the damage was still done. Knowing that they knew how to reach him in this way unsettled him, and so he'd bottled up those feelings and decided to bother Noiz that day.

Of course, that didn't mean that he interrupted him from doing his own thing. He pretty much just sat on the couch until he... wasn't? Right, dreaming. Still, after a couple of in-dream minutes, Ren roused himself awake again with a yawn, blinking slowly as he attempted to wake himself up.

"Nnnh, sorry..." he murmured, only to yawn once more, trying to motivate himself to sit up where he'd dropped over, head on the arm rest.

"Today was utter shit. Of all the shit days, today was almost the shittiest."

He doesn't expect Noiz to listen, honestly. They're not even an item or anything. Ren's just another guy that Noiz trounced in Rhyme. Easily, at that. Ren's been practicing, but he hasn't gotten much better.

Ren's just another no-mark whom bothers him for the hell of it.

He's not sure why Noiz even lets him bother him, but he's too polite and cowardly to look that gift horse in the mouth. He's just thankful for the company that Noiz provides, even though he could have sought out more... ordinary folk. It never occurred to him to ditch Noiz in favor of easier people to hang around.

He just likes him, honestly. And his Rhyme skills are something to look up to. He likes finding Noiz's matches online and watching them. He knows those are fanboy tendencies, too, but they are sometimes also points where Noiz seems the most... alive? Maybe? Anyway, that's the feeling he gets. Doesn't necessarily mean it's true.

"I wish I could just... not give a damn. It's tiring giving a crap about bad shit. Y'know the feeling?"

Even though he still finds it hard as hell to connect with him. The one thing he briefly wishes was easier, but then chastises himself for his selfishness.
