scenarios;

① fuck the police, this is the best time for a walk. hope you've got a nice thick coat on.
② stranded in the buttcrack of nowheresville? weren't you watching the time? now you've gone and missed that last bus out of there. or maybe you're lost, somehow. what do?
③ literally chilling, in this weather, is quite easy to do. sitting around relaxing in it is a wee more difficult, but sometimes much more enjoyable, especially if shelter can be found. the snow is beautiful to watch, after all.
④ the weather's not going to stop you. your snow fort's packed full of ammo and ready to go. those aren't snow angels over there; they mark where the poor souls you've downed have fallen. be careful with that snowman's head!!
⑤ you're about fifty miles from civilization but there's a roof over your head, so never mind the chilly draught, right? right. you mightn't be the only one lucky enough to stumble upon this little shelter, though. remember to share the blanket.
⑥ everyone stuck outside should be jelly. you've got a fireplace and hot cocoa and damn if it isn't awesome. a heater's not quite so romantic, but it'd do. there'd better be a backup generator in case the power trips.
⑦ mix and match, or make up your own.

[ At first, her mouth twists to the side at the lack of response.

This is now a game.

[ Stomp, stomp, stomp. Hana leads the pack and it's a position she's not unused to.

Before moving, she turns the top half of her Meka enough to see the soldier behind her. ]

Try and keep up, okay?

[WOW. Wow. Okay, so that's how this is going to be. 76 does his very best not to betray any sort of reaction to his new nickname, the way he stomps after her the only sign of indignation.]

You don't have to tell me to keep up.

[He could sprint circles around her mech if he really wanted, and he falls in step just a few paces behind her.]

[ His footsteps are louder -- they crunch in the snow like he's forcing his foot down harder.

Hana grins in the safety of her pink robot. ]

Oh, yeah?

[ She shouldn't be wasting jet fuel. She shouldn't be playing around. Patrols are serious but if 76 really is like her in painting his robot, this might work.

A burst of green light sends Hana fifty feet ahead in only two seconds. When she lands, she spins midair and then waves with her robot arm at 76 very far behind. ]

Slowpoke 76!

[Hana's assessment proves to be right--Jack's always had something of a competitive streak, or at the very least, an inability to turn down a challenge. Despite his general detachment from most things, 76 recognizes this for what it is and is hard-pressed to let it slide. He's not sure if he can keep up with Meka's jets, but after that taunt, he'll be damned if he doesn't try.

Probably he isn't able to cover fifty feet in two seconds, but he pushes himself into a sprint anyway, taking advantage of her landing to close the distance between them and then keep running past her.

This is one way to warm up, he guesses.]

[ Okay. Not Slowpoke 76. With some expert maneuvering, she boosts her MEKA at a turn and follows after him quickly. Just before the system overheats too much, she turns off the thrusters. A flurry of snow follows her, raining snow down on 76 and making his white hair even more white.

Once she sees him, she bursts out in laughter. ]

D.Va used Blizzard! Super effective!

[Yeah, he probably asked for this. Enhanced or not, he's hard-pressed to keep up with actual thrusters, though it's going to take more than snow to the face to discourage him. He's all at once glad she didn't take the coat, and he drags a hand across his visor to clear it, a low growl in the back of his throat.

Two can play at this game.]

[He says, stooping so that he can scoop snow into his palm and packing it hard between his hands. NO SCREWING AROUND.]

[ Is she ever? LIFE IS A GAME, SOLDIER 76. ]

[ It looks like they're just getting started, anyway. A grin spreads across her face as she watches him make a snowball. That's cute. She's protected by a giant mech. Unless he has perfect aim and somehow hits her hands, it won't effect her AT ALL.

And now she has a new special Blizzard move. ]

[This is entirely futile and he knows it, though the fact that she's encased in an entire mech and he has only a snowball isn't going to deter him. He's squared off in situations much more futile than this.

He's going to try anyway, lobbing the snowball right at the Meka--doesn't matter if it's going to splat against the windshield. In fact, he might be hoping she manages to intercept it before then. It might impress him, but only a little.]

[ In the blink of an eye, Hana pulls up her Defense Matrix. The snowball is shot right out of the air, becoming snowflakes that flutter gently and non threateningly back to the ground. The expression on the ex-progamer's face is very cocky and almost exasperated. He didn't think that would really work, did he?

Her shield lowers, disappearing and taking its green light with it.

Then, she plops her mech to sit on the ground causing snow to fly up around her. ]

Reeejected.

[What he declines to say is that he could probably rip her out of that thing with his bare hands, and it's only the goodness of his heart that prevents him from doing so. It's also out of the goodness of his heart that he offers this, instead:]

[76 doesn't bother to pack another snowball, instead shoving hands in his pockets and catching up to her in a few steps.]

You got a targeting system in there?

[ If he can catch her. OLD MAN.

The praise is kind of nice. She's used to it from the world at large, but it's a little more rare from him. Behind the green visor, her lips quirk a little and then she shrugs in a nonchalant way. ]

[ Her hands pull away from her controllers and she crosses her arms, sticking her hands under her arms to warm them up again. A large sign of trust from her. ]

Yep! Semi-automated. I still have to make sure projectiles are within the tracking area before I can shoot them out of the air. It's not aim-botting though.

[Well excuse! And here he is trying to pay her a compliment. 76 snorts a little bit, pulling his coat closer around him at about the same time Hana starts warming her hands.]

Maybe I can get a look inside sometime.

[He doubts that's going to fly, but he figures it's a good way to test the waters.]

[ Flattery gets you no where! It's not her fault she has the ego the size of her own country.

Her eyes narrow. Torbjorn had asked the same thing and she had vehemently told him hands off. It's her meka and although she may self-destruct her precious mech only she has the rights to touch it.

But she has an idea. ]

If you take off your visor.

[Ooh, that's a tall order, and 76 is quick to vocalize that with a ponderous inhalation through his teeth.]

Guess I don't want to see the inside that badly.

[His voice is still dry as ever, but there's the slightest hint of amusement in his words, this time.]

[ Damn. Her mouth twists to the side, disappointed, studying him from the safety of the mech. Through the green light of her visor.

Now that they're here, she's not willing to give up just yet. ]

... 'Kay, what would it take to get you to take off your visor?

[So, she's not getting it off him anytime soon. He imagines she's going to be just as stubborn as he is on this, however, so he starts walking again, as if he can outpace the conversation.]

[ She had a feeling it wouldn't be easy. He wouldn't tell her it would take a pretty smile. First of all, gross. Second of all, she's been told she has a very pretty smile so he would be doomed.

Her mech stays on the ground for a moment longer, then she boots it up so she's jumping back onto its feet and following after him.

No. She can't live now. ]

[Realtalk: this is going to be the most difficult thing she ever undertakes, perhaps even including her fights against that one Omnic. He won't be so easily swayed by things like cute smiles or even batting of eyelashes.]

It's figurative.

[So, no, he's not interested in money. He's interested in some kind of unquantifiable amount of trust that he doesn't see himself getting with anyone, really.]

[ Her cheerful voice chimes behind him, distorted by Meka's speaker system. Okay, it's probably not "figurative" either. She's just giving him a hard time. As she tends to do with everyone.

Then again, everyone eventually gives into her cute smiles and batting eyelashes.

Hana has her own reasons why Soldier 76 wears the mask. Most of those reasons she's fairly sure aren't the real reason, but she can't help but let her imagination get away from her. He could be embarrassed of his really old, ugly face. He could need it to see because he's blind.

Although she's pretty sure he's just hiding his identity for some reason. Compared to her, who streams missions and flaunts her idol status, he's like her opposite. ]

What's your story, anyway? You're pretty mysterious. Wearing a mask, keeping secrets...

Super heroes do that too, you know.

[76 offers little more than a sigh and another shrug. Perhaps surprisingly, though, he can provide a serious explanation, even if it's only part of the reason.]

Not exactly on the right side of the law.

[Granted, none of them are on the right side of the law simply by affiliating themselves with a reformed Overwatch, but he's gone out and deliberately caused real property damage. He's not exactly a good person to have around.]

Just don't want to risk anything.

[ Realization spreads across her face. In the slight widening of her eyes, in the small parting of her mouth. That's right -- Soldier 76 has done some bad things. Good, but also kind of bad. Things the police would be going after him for if, you know, he wasn't a one man army on his own.

Plus, she's heard about his exploits from Winston. Overheard, hah. ]

Are any of us on the right side, being a part of Overwatch? Didn't the top dogs perma-ban this group before? You think I'm gonna blab to everyone your true identity? Listen, I may stream my missions and share a lot with my fans but I can keep secrets.

As long as our goal is to make the world better in some way, we're all in this together. Okay?

[It would be a good speech, if he were someone else. As it stands, even running with the re-formed Overwatch is detrimental to them. Being seen on their missions immediately discredits their attempt to be seen as legitimate. They might be violating UN decree, but public opinion of Soldier: 76 is not exactly great. He’s a terrorist at worst, a thorn in the side of private security details at the very best. Not exactly great for public image.]

It’s more complicated than that.

[Some of them have figured him out—people who were close to him, and of course there’s Ana, but the more people he can keep this from, the better. He shouldn’t be here in the first place, but having his identity revealed will be disastrous. How can they reform Overwatch with the knowledge of how he abandoned them all? Knowing that he’s done things like plant bombs and break into old bases, not caring for the collateral damage he causes?]

Better if you don’t know.

[ Hana has a feeling that everyone in Overwatch knew what they were getting into if they knew anything about Overwatch and its history. While not a expert on it, Hana knew enough through word of mouth both before and after she was enlisted.

Plus, you had to be living under a rock if you didn't know about Soldier: 76.

But he's had her back and he's been on these boring patrols with her enough that she trusts him. How the public views Soldier:76 and D.Va might be vastly different but that doesn't stop her. Nothing does. And it doesn't change that they're both here with Overwatch.

After a long pause where Hana says nothing, she powers down her MEKA and climbs out of it. All 5'5" of her in a suit that does nothing to protect her from the cold. Yet she marches over, snowflakes getting caught in her auburn hair until she's standing right in front of the soldier. ]

I'll decide what's best for me, Soldier: 76. [ Give her some respect here. She's seen her share of disaster, too.

She punches his shoulder. Not enough to leave bruises or marks. Not to really cause pain but enough to show frustration, at least. Things she did with her squad. ]

You know, I like you. [ SHE PUNCHED HIM. ] You're weird, and grumpy, and you're really naggy but you're still alright. It's because you care, huh?

[He knows that he's not going to dissuade her--she's just as stubborn as he is, most days, but when she climbs out of the MEKA he's perhaps a little surprised. It doesn't show on his face, but his shoulders tense as she invades his personal bubble and it's clear he's not sure what to do when she outright punches him in the arm.

76 has absolutely nothing to say on the subject of whether or not he cares. Of course he cares. He tries very hard to make it seem like he doesn't care, but he knows that it doesn't work nearly as well as he'd like it to.

He doesn't even have an argument against anything she's saying, but now that he has her out of the MEKA, he shrugs off the overcoat and offers it to her. Perhaps that's his answer.]

[ It's enough of one. The weight of the coat, the warmth leftover... hell, even that very same care she was talking about lingers there in the fabric. Instead of giving it back, she's pushing her arms through the sleeves. Her fingers don't make it past the ends as she spreads out her arms. ]

[ Her smile is a bit more genuine, a bit less cocksure. A glance over her shoulder towards her MEKA and then she's back in his personal space, a handful of his leather jacket in her hand. ]
