Wings for everybody!

No, really, it's like Oprah on a bender, everyone gets a pair! They can be feathery, leathery, tattered, pristine, made out of glitter, feathers, tissue paper or star-stuff.

The only limit is your imagination (and reference pics, if that's your thing)

Maybe your character has always had their wings, maybe they just woke up with them for the first time this morning like an odd take on Gregor Samsa, it's entirely up to you.

He also had minimal knowledge of how to use them, reflex the same as any other limb. Hydra had, apparently, decided to make him a literal angel of death.

They were flexible enough, barely, to be hidden under a jacket, as long as he ignored how badly it made them and his shoulders cramp up to do so.

In the surgery to repair her burns, they'd also given her a Mockingjay's wings, she hadn't even realized at first, too delirious from pain and from painkillers.

They'd turned her into a mutt, made her visible proof of their symbol, and then they'd locked her away in the tower, probably as some sort of cautionary tale, even she wasn't sure. All she knew was that as she slowly came back to herself in her captivity, she also slowly learned to use the wings, stretching and folding them, certain that she'd be able to fly if she could ever get out.

Poe knew, of course, that one didn't just walk away from a position with the Royal Guard, especially not under the Regent, he knew that better than most, in fact, because he knew what had happened to his mother. He'd been there. He'd lost his own wings because of it.

Oh he'd still had them for a couple of years after the incident, but with one almost entirely immobile and the other not much better off, and both of them causing damage to his spine because of the added weight that he couldn't control, it had been deemed safer to just have them removed.

It was, however, his mother's time in the Guard that had afforded him a place there despite his 'deformity'. And then he'd followed in her footsteps, somewhat more loudly than she had, after his first term. He hadn't said anything that wasn't true, and he hadn't said anything that could get him arrested on the spot for treason, but it was definitely the kind of thing that would be looked into, he knew.

The moment he'd awoken in his bed, Kurt knew that something was off and it wasn't because he'd fallen asleep on his stomach. He had drawn up from the bed, propping himself onto his elbows and attempting to blink through the remaining haze of sleep when he felt the unusual weight on his back. Complete and utter shock came over him at the sight of a pair of wings behind him when he'd turned to look over his shoulder, hands and feet fumbling across the mattress as he struggled to get up.

They were vibrant and multi-colored, transparent - like the wings of a dragonfly, yet still strong enough for him to get some sort of air beneath them. He hadn't attempted anything aside from hovering a few feet off the ground, for fear of messing something up and ending up flat on his face.

So, he perched on the edge of his bed, trying to figure out how he had come to have these beautifully delicate wings, shimmering with each movement, catching the sunbeams from his window just right and casting rainbow fractals of light all around his room. His fingers rubbed over his knees, tail lashing, brow furrowed with contemplation before the realization struck him like a brick to the side of the head: he knew someone with wings, so why couldn't he go ask about it?

For once, he relished in the fact that he had woken up early enough to sneak to Angel's room without anyone else to see his newly grown appendages. He glanced back and forth down the hallway then raised his hand, lightly rapping his knuckles against the door, but hopefully loud enough to be heard.

"Please, be awake ..."
