(Hurt/Comfort) S M U T

hurt/comfort smut; meme Bruised. Beaten. Stabbed. Sapped of energy. Tricked. Mentally played and abused. Perhaps you've even seen your home world destroyed, depending on how Homestuck you are. Any way you slice it, characters go through a lot of crap. There's nothing wrong with wanting to see them get pampered and taken care of when they're ailing. In canon, they may not have someone who can provide them with care when they're injured, support and love when they're sick, and physical intimacy all around. In this post, AU or other scenarios can provide them with a caretaking partner of their very own (or, maybe, someone to take care of, if the reverse is their preference). So, for once, weary traveler, you don't have to carry that weight all by yourself.

to bring you out of the darkness; The injury may not be a temporary physical or mental one, however. Some characters suffer more deeply, even if they don't know it. Darkness covers their hearts, they're withdrawn, insecure, angry, or lonely. They need someone to reach out to them and show them unconditional love. This post can provide that, too. Whether it be the cliche and shameless "changed by your love" trope or something more subtle like getting someone to open up, the characters here can offer that and more. It's been another long night in StarCity, even longer for Oliver who had to make a pit stop to the doctor that agreed to keep his identity a secret, and treat his wounds. He's got one too many bruises this morning, as well as a long gash on his left side, one that required a dozen of stitches. It took two hours to clean every cuts and dress the stab wound, but now Ollie just looks forward to his bed.

But he's so tired and groggy and high (oh-so so high, thank you Dilaudil!) that instead of going home to Howard mansion, he slips into Rose's apartment, and crashes on her couch, having barely taken the time to slip out of his Green Arrow gear. There's a throw on there that he uses as a blanket, though it's barely covering his body. Oliver doesn't really care by now, and it makes him giggle like a drunk, a sound he tries to muffle with the decorative pillow his head is resting on. Rose deserves her sleep, after all.

If Jon was to go about on all the texts Kenzi sent him the night before, he knew she would be quite hangover on the morrow. He waited until past noon before visiting the black haired woman, armed with all the remedies for a drinking binge he could think of: pain relievers, water and a greasy breakfast he picked up on his way to her place. It was a good thing he had a double of her keys, and as suspected, the chain wasn't on her door: either Kenzi had forgotten to put it on the night before, or she was expecting his visit today, which spoke of how well she knew him.

He started a pot of strong coffee, set up the table and put the breakfast in the oven to keep it warm until Kenzi would walk in. He sat down to read the journal as he waited, trying not to think of the many, many racy texts (and pictures) she sent him the night before, enough that Jon had to take a long, cold shower in the middle of the night. She was his weakness, that he couldn't deny, and she clearly knew it.

Getting through the exams and checking the remnants of the crew came first. He worked on a second wind and pure adrenaline till the very last patient was seen to. Including Jim and Spock. Habit and his ornery disposition demanded he be the one that took care of them. Plus, plowin' on through meant less time to think about much else. It was easier that way after what Altamid and he didn't want to think to hard on any of that mess.

And it was just that - a big damn mess. And where only hours stood between him and that place, Leonard hated it. Hated what it stood for and the images emblazoned on his mind's eye like scorch marks etched into a fireplace. As much as he hated how many died - god help him, there were so many - the thing that upset him the most didn't lie there. No, the guilt that weighed on him the most made his normally solid and steady hands quake with fine line tremors.

Finishing the last of his rounds for one last check, he found himself wandering away from all the noise aimlessly like a leaf driftin' on the wind. Until he finally stopped. Stopped in the shadows of a darkened hall just off the wing where the crew was staying the night for observations and simply stood there, eyes fixed on his hands. He could still feel it. The way the phaser felt in his hand and the tension in his jaw as he fired again and again until he wondered in idle fashion if he might've just cracked a tooth from the pressure.

Leaning a shoulder on the wall, he slowly lowered his hands to his side while his temple rested on the cool metal surface. He couldn't shut his eyes to this one. Not this time. Not yet at least.

First do no harm.

One hand lifted and pushed through matted hair and he could feel the grime clinging to it as those words rang in his ears and in his mind.

Above all, I must not play at God.

Best damn surgeon in the fleet, his ass. How many times did he have to keep violating his own morality, his oaths and promises as a healer? A doctor? Hell, third violation was a charm. He scoffed softly at that thought and finally closed his eyes.

Well, that's no fun. He was at least hoping Cat would be amused, and if not that, it's sort of funny when people are horrified. Getting thrown out of society for the universe's most melodramatic graffiti is a better story, maybe.

He looks faintly sulky, hair flattened out, as he leans against the table. "No one pays gutter trash for legal computer work," he adds begrudgingly. Clearly his awesomeness should speak for itself and he shouldn't have to explain. "Now whenever they look at that spot they have to remember it had a nine-letter name carved in it with supposedly unhackable weapons systems."
