[Spectrumslid Remus from the Marauder era here for Gryffindor dormroom shenanigans. Or maybe she's sharing a flat post-Hogwarts. I'm easy.

Pretty good roommate. Just yknow. Don't mind her monthly illness and disappearances corresponding with the full moon.]

She's half-hanging off the couch working on a crossword when the thought occurs to her. It doesn't matter that it's not the most reasonable of thoughts. It doesn't matter that it's completely out of the blue.

"We should get a dog."

It also doesn't matter that it would be a bit redundant, with her in the mix, clearly.

Remissa doesn't even look up from her book. "But Pads, we already have you."

The entirely expected answer, of course.

"So?" she replies, seemingly unperturbed by the way the thought is quite instantly shot down, "People always need more dogs in their life. Besides, maybe I need to bond about the woes of dog life with another dog."

Logic.

"We don't have time to take care of a dog, Padfoot." There's a war on.

"I bet we could make it work. It'd be easy enough to have a chat with 'em, after all."

Since, you know. Dogs.

"When things have settled down a bit and there's no longer a possibility we'll be sent all over for long stretches of time... then we can have a chat. It wouldn't be fair to the dog." Maybe that approach will work. Cats are one thing; they're far less maintenance.

That.... is a fair point. Still, she wouldn't be Siria Orionca Black if she went down without a fight.

"I'm okay when you get sent all over for long stretches of a time."

Mostly. And she's a dog. Mostly.

"You can use a toilet and get your own food and drink even when there's none in the flat." Yeah nice try.

"Please, Remy?"

What about if puppy dog face. Is that supereffective, yes or yes?

[ Sharing a flat had been quite practical, really. There was no reason not to by now, and it was nice to be in proximity. Regula is quiet as ever but she enjoys having company - it helps keep her on track.

Perhaps it keeps both of them on track. She likes to think so at least, and the idea of it is nice even if it's not true. She combs the papers every morning for any kind of news of note - there's nothing, usually, or at least nothing helpful. Just skirmishes and deaths.

This morning though, she leans out the kitchen to peer out into the living room, looking for Remissa before she speaks. ]

Breakfast and tea?

[ Living here is her first experience with not having a house elf around, but she's managed to get better at cooking. Passable at first, but good enough now. ]

[It always seemed a little silly to Remissa that none of her pureblooded friends seemed to know the first thing about taking care of themselves, but she supposed that was the drawback of the luxury of wealth. Regula's learning quick, though, so she can't really complain.

She's combing the papers herself when Regula pops her head in.]

Sounds great. Do you want help?

[Can't hurt to offer, even if she's been doing much better with that.]

[ A lot of the people Regula grew up with would still have scoffed at the mere idea of taking care of themselves in any capacity. There's a kind of status quo involved with being helpless. Regula has thrown herself into it though, desperately wanting to be self-sufficient.

It helps. At the offer of assistance she shakes her head. ]

No, that's all right. Just tell me if you find anything of interest while I'm busy.

[ Her head disappears back into the kitchen after that. She'll be occupied for a short stretch. ]

[Remissa shrugs and lets her have at it. If she starts to smell something burning, she'll get up.]

Skeeter's up to her usual nonsense. So no, nothing of interest so far.
