The Slave Auction Meme

❧ Leave a comment with the character's name, fandom, and whether your character will be playing the part of 'slave' or 'master', plus preferences for scenarios if you have any.
❧ Respond to others with one of the scenarios below or feel free to make up your own.
❧ Please remember to be respectful of others while you play

Warning: Be aware that this meme deals with dark subjects like slavery and may also contain non-consensual/dubiously consensual sex, violence, and kink.

SLAVES

1. The Newbie - This is your very first auction and you don't quite know what to expect. Hopefully you remember your training and don't disgrace yourself in front of your new master. Hopefully someone thinks you're worth buying at all.

2. The Oldtimer - You've been bought and sold and bought again so many times. You've seen it all before and don't think this time is going to be much different. In fact, the only real anxiety you've got is whether or not someone's going to pay for a more than slightly used slave.

3. The Pet - You're a pleasure slave. A bed warmer. A decorative piece of artwork. You're meant to look pretty and be pleasing and not much else.

4. The Guard - Your master hired you because of your ability to swing a sword or shoot a gun, not your looks.

5. The Escape Artist - Somehow you always manage to squirm out of your master's chains. Too bad you seem to get caught after a while. Maybe your next daring escape will be permanent. Then again, maybe your next master has special ways of keeping you locked up.

6. The Undercover - You aren't a slave at all, you're just pretending to be one. Why? Well that's up to you. Either way, your cover is blown if you don't act the part.

7. The Specialist - You have a skill that no one else has. Something rare and valuable. Something your master needs more than anything else.

MASTERS

1. The Customer - You've owned slaves before and this trip to the market is nothing new to you. Still, you're hoping to find something worth your while.

2. The Gift - Someone bought a pet for you, isn't that nice of them? Or maybe it isn't so nice. Did you even want a slave in the first place? Well you're stuck with one now.

3. The Giver - You're selecting a slave for someone else, and they need to be perfect. Perhaps you'd better test them out first to make sure you're getting your money's worth.

4. The Trainer - You specialize in taming unruly slaves and making them over into perfect, obedient, well-trained pets.

5. The Rebel - You hate the idea of slavery, but the system isn't going to go away any time soon, so the next best thing is to buy up any slave you can get your hands on and free them, right?

6. The Companion - You want someone to be with you always, someone you can talk to and depend on, someone who will never leave your side. It's a good thing that money can buy that these days.

7. The Undercover - You're not actually a Master. You're at the auction for an entirely different reason. Maybe it's special policework, maybe you're trying to hunt down a certain someone. Either way, your cover is blown unless you act the part.

As always, feel free to use a combination of scenarios or make up your own if you have other ideas.

beep beep here comes the garbage truck

[personal profile] wrathfulkhan 2016-09-27 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
This was an all-too-familiar sight to Gene. He was back in the markets again, now that the lashes on his back from his most recent escape attempt had sufficiently healed so he wouldn't get marked down for being 'troublesome'.

Not only was he troublesome, his auctioneer had a special reason to sell. He'd been of little value to his stepfather for too long, and far too much trouble. The best thing to do was to pawn the slave off onto someone else.

For once, Gene hoped he'd be bought. Not least because he could have a chance to slip away later, but because he'd stolen something, and wanted to get away before his stepfather noticed.

Escaped or sold, Gene would not leave without the last piece he had of his mother - her ring. Never.

Tony is bored. Bored. B-o-r-e-d. He stifles another yawn and lazily looks over the slaves on offer. Nothing that really -

One of the sellers has a guy... Tony can tell the proud tilt of a chin when he sees one. The guy is not cowed, despite being in the slave markets. That's at least interesting. And his dad has been after him to get a body slave since his eighteenth birthday. Well, no reason not to get one that will at least be interesting.

Before he really thinks about it, he raises his hand and bids on the guy. It's a short bidding war between him and Whitney, but she loses in the end. Probably because he flashed a smile at her and she forgot to bid.

But now he has a slave. His very first that doesn't belong to the Starks, but to him. He gathers up his slave, and begins heading back through the crowded streets. "What's your name?"

It's unexpected that there's a short bidding war over him - it's unexpected that there are bids at all - but his contract is in Tony Stark's hands now. It's a little weird to think about.

But even now, Gene is proud and preoccupied, so when the question comes from Stark, he says, "You could always look at your bill of sale." What did it matter if he played the part of the obedient slave? He'd either be escaped or back on the block within the week, Stark or no Stark.

[personal profile] anormalironlife 2016-09-28 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Tony is curious about the guy. Why so hostile? How did he get his pride? Where does it come from?

"I don't read Chinese." Tony says, easily. He might be a Stark, but they don't know everything. Just most things. He and his father are considered two of the smartest men in the world. That's not an exaggeration.

"Besides, I'd rather talk to you." Tony admits, a bit recklessly. He's also known for his charm. For both sexes. He flashes a smile at his new body slave. "Don't you think we should at least know each other's names?"
wrathfulkhan: (Gritting teeth // chatvert)

[personal profile] wrathfulkhan 2016-09-29 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"..." Very well, then. Gene grits his teeth, but relents. "Gene Khan. I know who you are. Sir."

Is it clear that he doesn't particularly want to talk, even if Stark is trying to turn on the charm? He's still the one who bought a human being, and thus he's no better than Zhang in Gene's eyes. He'd spent most of his life in captivity. That didn't mean that he had been broken to the bit just yet.
anormalironlife: (genius at work)

[personal profile] anormalironlife 2016-09-29 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Stark will admit that he normally doesn't buy slaves. Tony is actually against slave labor in all its many forms, but what's he going to do? Change the world?

... Well, actually, yes. Being Iron Man is good enough to do that. Crap, he's going to have to tell Gene about the whole Iron Man Schtick, isn't he? That's one step closer to his Dad knowing, and that's Not A Good Idea.

So, what's he supposed to be talking about next?

"Well, hopefully, you won't find the work too arduous." Tony says, brightly. "It'll mainly be light housekeeping, and occasionally accompanying me out." He shrugs. "Other than that, you can hang out in the house." And do what you want. But he doesn't say that, because Tony's not an idiot. Well, not wholly an idiot.

"Is there anything you like to do?"
wrathfulkhan: (Confused // chatvert)

[personal profile] wrathfulkhan 2016-09-30 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Great. Housekeeping and being a gofer. Still. Could be worse. A lot worse. And at least this gave him ample opportunities to escape.

But the concept of 'hanging out' and asking him what he liked to do? Utterly baffling. "...I don't understand the question," he says.
anormalironlife: (pepper you make my head hurt)

[personal profile] anormalironlife 2016-09-30 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Tony stops. What was difficult about the question? Well, slaves don't have a lot of downtime he supposes. "Can you read?" Tony asks. Some slaves can't. If not, that will be where they start. Because Tony needs a slave that can read.

Oh well. Cross that bridge in a minute.

"Because we have a huge library you are more than welcome to use." Tony continues, scuffing his feet against the ground. "And you can help me in the lab, if you want." He rubs the back of his neck. Crap, what's he supposed to do with this guy now that he has him?
wrathfulkhan: (Fascinating // khalkhbataar)

[personal profile] wrathfulkhan 2016-09-30 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, I can read." He'd be a lot less valuable if he couldn't, after all. And the prospect of a library sounded appealing at the very least. He'd never had the opportunity to read for pleasure before, only to read things that were useful. That was why he'd been permitted to learn English. Because it was useful.

"What would I help you with in the lab? I don't have that sort of skillset," he admits, somewhat grudgingly.
anormalironlife: (genius at work)

[personal profile] anormalironlife 2016-09-30 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Tony shrugs easily. "I mostly need someone to remind me to eat and sleep." He needs a damned keeper. Welcome to your new job, Gene.

"But company in the lab would be nice too." He gets lonely. To have someone else there would be nice. At least at first.

"And if you can read, you're welcome to read while I work." Tony says. He's not your typical master.

Gene stares at him a little bit. "...that's it?"

Surely he can't be serious. He's used to harder work and worse labor and unsavory business. Not...minding some pampered rich boy.

This is madness.

Pre work tag!

[personal profile] anormalironlife 2016-09-30 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Tony looks at his new slave - Gene. "Sure." He shrugs again. "What were you expecting? There might be some bodyguard work but that's pretty much it." He's trying not to sound defensive and failing at it. Surely that's not too much? He's never owned a personal slave before but that isn't a lot of work. Then again keeping him fed and forcing him to bed is a full time job.

"Come on. We'll grab a cab home." He flags down a cab and gets in motioning Gene after him.
wrathfulkhan: (Fascinating // khalkhbataar)

[personal profile] wrathfulkhan 2016-10-04 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
"There's usually a lot more involved, in my experience," Gene says, because he doesn't know when to shut up.

It's clear Stark's a newbie at this. He gets into the cab first, leaving Gene in a prime position to make a break for it. And Gene almost does. But it's too public, and too hasty. When he leaves, he's going to lie in wait for the perfect moment. Not dash away on impulse.

So he gets into the cab.
anormalironlife: (doing the math)

[personal profile] anormalironlife 2016-10-04 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
It doesn't occur to Tony that Gene would want to run. Living with the Starks is a really cushy gig. Honestly, Tony forgets that most of the people working in the mansion all started out as slaves and earned their freedom. Some had left, but most stayed.

He gives the address to Stark Industries to the cabbie, and settles back against the seat. "We're going to have to get you proper clothes, of course. Dad will insist anyway. Then, we'll have to get you some education for working with us." He shrugs like it's no big thing. For him, it isn't.
wrathfulkhan: (Fascinating // khalkhbataar)

[personal profile] wrathfulkhan 2016-10-07 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Gene frowns a little as the cab pulls away. Proper clothes and more than the piecemeal education he'd had.

There's got to be a catch, aside from his continued enslavement.

"You're really serious, aren't you."
anormalironlife: (suit interface)

[personal profile] anormalironlife 2016-10-07 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Tony frowns, and then instructs the cabbie to head to a nearby clothing store. No reason to go all the way home just to have to come back out.

"Of course." Tony says, sitting back again as the cab pulls through the midafternoon traffic. "You'll have a chance to earn your freedom, of course, but Dad can explain that." Because Tony isn't good at it, and made one girl cry.

Gene takes a look at him. "Now you must be pulling my leg. Nobody lets slaves go free." Nobody he's ever known ever let their slaves go free. His stepfather certainly never would.
anormalironlife: (Iron Man)

[personal profile] anormalironlife 2016-10-08 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Tony leans back against the door and studies Gene. "We do." He says simply. "Most of them still work for us." He concedes. "But they get paid a fair wage, and are free to come and go as they please." They even have days off once in a while.

"You're here, Mr. Stark." The cabbie says.

Tony slips out of the cab, and offers Gene a hand. "Come on. Proper clothes and then we'll get food."
wrathfulkhan: (Evil studmuffin // chatvert)

[personal profile] wrathfulkhan 2016-10-08 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Gene follows Tony out of the cab in a daze, taking the offered hand. He hadn't realized how hungry he'd been until Tony had mentioned food.

Today was just one surprise after another, it seemed.

"They keep working for you." His tone was flat. "They don't take the opportunity to leave?" Because Gene would see it as an opportunity.
anormalironlife: (esplain you a thing)

[personal profile] anormalironlife 2016-10-08 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Tony frowns, trying to think. How many had left? "Some of them do." He finally says, unable to think of anyone. "But, some come back." He shrugs and leads the way into the store, immediately getting someone to come over and help them.

"Get what you want." Tony says. "It'll just go on my account."
wrathfulkhan: (Gonna need a bigger boat // chatvert)

[personal profile] wrathfulkhan 2016-10-08 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Aaand this keeps being weird.

"There's not some kind of...protocol...you want me to stick to? No uniform?" Some people wanted that kind of thing, especially rich important people. It easily showed who was master and who was slave.
anormalironlife: (dad hug)

[personal profile] anormalironlife 2016-10-08 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Tony frowns, texting his butler. Jarvis knows everything. "Nothing red or gold." But that's personal. "Other than that, Dad prefers something muted, but nope. No uniform." There are ways to denote slaves without a uniform.

"There are bracelets you have to wear, but there are several styles, if you want to change it up." Tony is still texting Jarvis.

"Dad will be waiting for us." Uh oh. Howard isn't pleased that Tony impulse bought a person.
wrathfulkhan: (If I look back I am lost // chatvert)

yeah that's not a normal impulse buy tony

[personal profile] wrathfulkhan 2016-10-08 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
No red, no gold. Gene picks out darker colors; it's easier that way. And easier for him to go unseen, when he eventually needs to.

"Right. The bracelets." Crap.
anormalironlife: (genius at work)

Look, he has a Plan, okay? A Plan.

[personal profile] anormalironlife 2016-10-08 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Tony just leans against a wall, texting on his phone. He's not sure he's more in trouble for the impulse buy, or for not consulting his Dad first. OR... maybe something else.

If his Dad found the lab, and the suits, well, there's going to be trouble there. Lots of trouble. Being Iron Man is still new to Tony, but he's got to keep it secret from his Dad. At least for a little while yet.

"Don't worry, they're in good taste." He's more distracted by the news on his phone.
