[his eyes crinkle as he grins at her] Glad my wife thinks so. So. What else is fun for you?

Nate says I'm an 'adrenaline junkie', so I guess anything that gets the ticker moving. Base jumping, sky diving, beating security systems... the usual. What about you, Ranger Joe? What makes my husband tick, besides not looking at bared breasts in the same room as him.

[She took another monstrous bite of pizza, cheeks bulging.]

After you eat and we don't have an audience. [ He almost said swallow, but he stopped himself in time. Not the best time. He took a bite of his pizza and swallowed, a lot neater than Parker. But then again, his sister smacked manners into him. Parker probably wasn't as lucky, so he was going to overlook her. Well unless someone else mentioned it, then he'll be in their face about their manners. ]

[She narrowed her eyes at him, chewing thoughtfully (with her mouth closed), reaching for her drink to help wash down the mouthful.]

This is flirting, right? I never really got the hang of that. Not real flirting.

Well, that's a bummer. Every cute girl deserves a flirt or two. If she's interested. Are you?

[ Jake smiles slowly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. ]

[She chewed more slowly, mulling that over. Was she? Well, he wasn't exactly hard on the eyes, was he? And he was a good bad guy, which meant he was less likely to judge her for her own actions along the same lines.]

I mean I can't say I know how well mine is. Since I don't flirt with myself, and every woman's different.

I like honest flirting. I can't see how anyone would enjoy being lied to, even if it was supposed to be nice.

[Parker didn't like being lied to, especially not from anyone that wasn't just a passing acquaintance.]

[ Jake tilts his head, before snagging a piece of pizza and folding it up before chowing down. Chewing and swallowing his bite first, he spoke. ]

Yeah? I can tell when someone's lying to get me to like them. Never works out for them the way they want. So you're the same, huh?

[How much to tell him? She'd been learning about socialization, about being friendly, but there was still that part of her that was short and blunt, the real Parker that didn't understand or care about the niceties of small talk and smiling while doing it. A small shrug before she reached for her drink.]

Most people are uncomfortable around me, so if they're being nice, they always want something. I wish more people would just say what they mean instead of what other people want to hear. It'd save on the confusion.

I'll keep that in mind. I don't like dissembling, either, unless it's a mission.
