You can't be around this person without your stomach tying up in knots or your heart skipping a beat. You know, all those cliches people use to describe that feeling of being in love with someone close to you.

You've finally decided it's time to share those feelings of yours and get them out in the open, even if it doesn't end well for you!

[She'd like to see what Rei is like when someone confesses to her. A little tight feeling forms in her stomach as she thinks of that, but she pushes that thought away.]

[ Rei's shoulders hunch up in a final act of protest, but she keeps quiet and lets Usagi read. she doesn't typically mind the physical closeness between them, but right now, this feels entirely too close, and Usagi is taking this entirely too seriously, and just-- she can't hold back-- ]

[ --from shoving her hand right into Usagi's face, knocking her back in the process. ]

[ okay. this is definitely the time to be pushing Usagi back again. Rei knows this, but... she can't quite bring herself to move. she's definitely not going to be the one closing that distance, either. about the most she can accomplish is breathing.

this really is entirely too close. ]

[Way too close. But why, then, is she moving closer? NO. NO. MOVE BACK.]

Rei...? This is-

[And she looks down. Bwwwwwaaah!]

S-Sorry!

[ the spell is broken, and Rei should be relieved. instead, she feels like a ton of bricks just came crashing down on her shoulders. Usagi isn't looking at her. Usagi is apologizing, and Rei doesn't know what for, but she knows that there's no way she can get out of this situation by laughing it off and pretending it was nothing, the same way she always does.

she really can't bring herself to laugh right now. or say anything, for that matter. her mouth opens, but her throat is clogged, and no sound can leave it. she's successfully dug herself into a hole from which there's no surfacing, and the only way to go is down.

and so as quickly as she can, Rei cups the side of Usagi's face, tilting it up so that their lips meet. quickly enough that she wouldn't have the time to internally yell at herself that she just told herself she wouldn't, or to think it through at all. if she's going to regret it, she may well save it for after it's been done. ]

[Usagi can't stammer out another apology, or anything really, as Rei gently tilts her head upwards and their lips touch. And suddenly, just for a moment, everything else stops, even the nervous flying feelings in her stomach.

It's a quick gesture, and she almost can't believe it happened. So just as quickly, almost as if to confirm it, she presses her lips against Rei's. Her move is just as rapid, and she pulls away like an electric shock. But it's not fear, or disgust, or anything like that. She could never feel that towards her. It's something else entirely.]

[ Usagi kisses back. it lasts only a moment, but she definitely kisses back. Rei's brain can barely even process what's happening, or what it all means, but one thing manages to register with surprising clarity: she wasn't rejected.

and that spurs her on, fills her with confidence that wasn't there the moment before. all previous hesitation seems to have dissolved into thin air when she kisses Usagi again -- it's gentle, still, but deeper, and she holds it longer this time, hand snaking to the back of Usagi's neck to keep her in place. it's different. not as clumsy, not as measured.

and, as is now painfully plain to see, much less spur of the moment than it is something that's been taking shape in her mind for quite some time. ]

[This...this is hard to wrap her mind around, so Usagi doesn't even try. She just feels, as she's oft to do. Rei's kiss is soft and sweet, unlike the words she always flings. Possibly, if she were to compare, she hasn't. But she's not comparing, not thinking, not anything. Just answering her friend with the love she always gives.

In return, she tilts her head just slightly, resting her hands on Rei's side.]

[ Rei's lips part against Usagi's own, a minute difference, a gap just large enough to allow her to breathe through. her fingers curl at her nape, neatly-trimmed nails grazing against skin, and her free hand, not knowing where to rest, mindlessly trails down Usagi's side, until it finally comes to a stop at her elbow.

she stays like this, drawing the kiss out for as long as she can. she feels warm to the tips of her ears, but in a pleasant, tingly sort of way-- comfortable. soft, safe. like everything around her has melted away, and that's just fine. it's not quite comparable to anything she's felt before.

Rei likes it. ]

[Kissing a girl is not too different from kissing a boy, Usagi's quickly realizing. The warmth is there, the happiness too. The only thing that's off is the...neatness, somehow. She relishes that, and the feeling of Rei's fingers on the skin of her arm, gooseflesh forming in the trail's wake. After her friend's hand rests on her elbow, she moves to take that hand so they can curl their fingers today. Her confidence is building so she can return the kiss.

Lips on lips, just slow movements, and a few small gasps from either the contact or the need for breath.

Whenever they must part, her lips are curled up in a smile. Whatever implications this has, they haven't hit her yet.]

[ she softly squeezes Usagi's hand, the contact evoking a light, fluttery feeling in her chest. as their kisses grow more continuous, each stretching on longer with increasingly fewer pauses in-between, Rei finds that it's becoming hard to hold her breath. she's going to need to break away eventually, she knows, but she doesn't want to. not yet. just a little bit more--

but even Rei's resolve can't last forever, and at last she breaks her mouth off with no small amount of reluctance. she doesn't pull back, though, instead opting to rest her forehead to Usagi's. her face is flushed to the base of her throat, and her chest heaves with each breath, and when she looks at Usagi it's with nothing but raw, overwhelming fondness. words will have to follow, at some point -- this will all have to be properly talked out and acknowledged -- but none of that has set in yet.

for now, she is happy, and that's that. ]
