You can't be around this person without your stomach tying up in knots or your heart skipping a beat. You know, all those cliches people use to describe that feeling of being in love with someone close to you.

You've finally decided it's time to share those feelings of yours and get them out in the open, even if it doesn't end well for you!

1. extravagant confession. You've set up a wonderful night, planned everything down to the T to make sure it's perfect for your confession!
2. note/text. You couldn't do it face to face, so you send a note or a text instead.
3. doomed. You know the other person doesn't love you or just can't be with you, but you need them to know how you feel anyway.
4. childish. You're not actually in love. You just have a childish crush on someone's close to you.
5. bittersweet. Things have all gone to hell anyway, so you might as well let everything out in the open, right?
6. in the heat of the moment. You guys are having an argument and you didn't mean to blurt out how you feel about them, but... oops.
7. serious. You're dead serious about this person, no doubt in your mind, and it's time to tell them.
8. a lie. You don't really love this person, but you're forced to play along either for their sake or because someone is forcing you to.
9. drunk confession. You're not in your right mind, either from drugs or alcohol, and you just let it all hang out about how you feel about this person.
10. lust confession. You don't love them exactly, you just want their body.
11. still in love. You were together once before and broke up for some reason, but you still love this person and they have to know it.

[there's none of that on her side either, which is probably also to be expected. Rose is too drunk to play her usually emotionally stunted games even if he is ruining her AWESOME confession plan.]

[yeah, well. after a bit more, he breaks it off. the little smile he gives her should give some hint of whether things are reciprocated or not.]

[a large smile spreads lazily across her face as Rose runs her hands along the arch of David's cheeks in the stilted way of a drunk trying to be careful.

after a moment she pronounces slowly and deliberately:]

I'm taking them back since you don't need them now that everything's gone all sour.

Hmm, no. I believe I'll be holding onto them.

[fuck, he can't help but mirror that.

I wouldn't suppose that you're still interested in getting in a spot of stargazing?

But why would you want them? There's no point in them now because you mucked everything up.

[her eyebrows knit in consternation before brightening up again at his next question.]

If you think there's anything still out there to see now. It was so lovely when we were leaving the bar.

whatever response he may have had evaporates when he hears her pronoun choice, though.]

[you can almost hear the train derailing itself in Rose's alcohol sodden mind as her expression moves somewhere into the panicked territory and her head snaps to stare down the hall]

Fuck. I think I left Strider outside.

I couldn't walk here by myself. [David you are getting the duuuuh tone from a drunk I hope you're adequately shamed] Besides, he helped me compose the letters.

Fair enough, I suppose... [oh absolutely just listen to that laugh] ...ah. That would explain some things.

[the corners of her mouth tug into a frown and she reaches out to clumsily pap him in the face. stop that.]

They're wonderful letters, especially given our circumstances. You'd have really appreciated them because Strider behaved himself through most of them.

Oh, I'm sure they're all as marvelous as the one that I read. No need to worry, I fully intend to dutifully read them all soon.

[fine just have a kiss on the forehead then]

No you won't, because I'm still taking them back.

[her voice has taken on an undercurrent of dogged determination to see her task through, although she's obviously pleased with the peace offering. her expression eases up a little and she loops her arms around his neck.]

We'll have to see.

[yeah good luck rose.

Weren't you going to deal with Strider?

I think I was. [her gaze strays back down the hall] He's going to be horribly disappointed at the way you messed everything up...

Oh, no. How will I ever live with the judgement of Dave Strider.

[deadpan as fuq]

Be quiet, he's my brother. [the closest her tone has come to reproachful all night] Besides, he had to pay for all the shots tonight; you need to give him a break.

I will as soon as you give my sister a break, how is that. [he's only half-serious, and she gets another forehead kiss.]

[she sticks her tongue out at the very idea of that] I will as soon as she gives me a reason to like her. Or I outdrink her, which I think might come first given how everything is.

I hardly see what there is to dislike.

She reminds me that being maladjusted is all my fault just by existing. [which is probably a lot sadder than her booze-addled brain realizes]

[he's almost frozen for a moment, before he tightens his arms around her.]
