Kabe-don (壁ドン)

Kabe-don is a romantic trope seen in various shoujo anime and manga. Kabe means “wall” and don is a Japanese onomatopoeia for the thud of hitting a wall. Usually, this is where a tough (sometimes tsundere) character backs another character against the wall, resulting the latter pounding the wall with their fist with one or both arms. It invokes a cool feeling, making the one being pinned against the wall go all doki-doki like this girl here-- EXTREME KABE-DON!!!

Hatsume Mei was the kind of acquaintance Izuku spent about half his time together with her praising her brilliance and inventive mind, and the other half wondering what cruel God had put him on the same path as this walking natural disaster. In this particular moment in time, he's heavily leaning towards the latter.

The facts were these: Mei had wanted to test whether a new drone design she'd been working on was capable of cornering and apprehending a human target. Due to her usual forceful personality (and because they needed a uniform-tune up) Izuku and Uraraka had been press-ganged into helping her out- Izuku by being the target, Uraraka by sending up debris in the air to act as a 3D "obstacle course" of sorts, to test out their maneuverability and capacity to calculate the optimal routes.

The tests had gone exceptionally well for the testers, Izuku managing to dodge the paintballs representing the stun rounds the real deal would be armed with and using the cover he was given with great tactical acumen. So perhaps his success made the mechanical mastermind a little bit peeved. Perhaps she just genuinely wanted to see how he'd react to a change of pace. But whatever the case may be she ended up steering one of her babies so that it took aim at Uraraka (while loudly drawing attention to the fact she was doing so) and when Izuku jumped in it's path to shield her from a shot... the drone instead sped right ahead to tackle him and BLOW THE HELL UP.

And amidst Mei's cackling that Izuku fell for her ruse, the explosion flung the poor boy through the air and right at Uraraka's direction, making him reach out in desperation for anything to alter his trajectory... whereupon his hands and feet sunk into the walls of the corner Uraraka had stood in, ending with his chest at her eye-height, him looking down at her with wide and terrified eyes, and the two of them in a position MOST compromising... mostly because Deku had hit the wall with such force that his extremities were STUCK inside the metal.]

[... This was bad. They were close enough for him to be able to smell her, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing when he thought about it. And really, it's not that new either. They were usually this close, but he's never really focused on it before now. Huh.
