[Korra is struggling to find some kind of diplomacy, but it's hard to remain neutral when the people being threatened or her friends. Actually, even if these people weren't her friends she would have a responsibility to do something if the rumors she has been hearing about Kuviria's methods are true. If they aren't just rumors and she doesn't want to outright accuse anyone.

It would be nice to be wrong in this instant, but things rarely turn out that way. She still hasn't sat down.]

Then tell me this: hypothetically speaking, if you were to go there and offer them to join you would they be given an actual choice?

[Another sigh, as Kuvira leans back further in her seat and closes her eyes. Seems Korra's not in the mood for play tonight. What a pity.

She hums, stroking her chin.] Were I to approach the citizens of Zaofu with an offer of incorporation into the Earth Empire, it would be in their best interests to accept it.

[She opens her eyes. When she looks at Korra, her gaze is all business.] Is that answer to your satisfaction, Avatar?

[She crosses her arms.] Not particularly, since that answer is duplicitous and can be interpreted in different ways.

[Why can't world leaders ever just give a straight answer?]

[She drains the rest of her glass, setting it down before standing up and smoothing out her skirt.] Do try the punch, Avatar. It's quite good.

[Korra give Kuvira a look like she'd rather smack the woman upside the head rather than drink punch with her now, but she sternly reminds herself how acting impulsively has gone in the past. From the way the older woman is smirking it would only give her satisfaction anyway,]

Well, I may or may not plant my boot in your backside if I catch you trying to make anyone do anything under duress. [There! She can do subtlety too! Except not really. She fills up a cup of punch and drains the thing though it looks more like an act of defiance than someone trying to enjoy a party.]
