[Rey just squints at the message suspiciously. If she ignores the 'princess' part entirely, it might sort of look like something that she needs to devote her attention to. If she doesn't ignore the 'princess' part, it sort of kind of looks like the type of message she shouldn't devote her attention to (the kind of message that someone else needs to devote their attention to entirely).

... Better to be safe than sorry ... ]

Alanna, it seemed, was far from subtle sometimes.

You do not have that! Do you have that? Wouldn't it hurt?

Rey realizes belatedly that none of those statements were an answer to the question at hand. The next message she sends, however, should leave no questions in its wake.

YES.

Hell yeah I do, and it did when it was still fresh, now it's just the fun kind of hurt.

Truth be told, she'd actually been expecting more questions, and it was possible that she'd get them in person, and she just grinned at the follow-up message.

Glad to hear it, I'll be in your neck of the woods in a couple hours, making a delivery for the General.

'The fun kind of hurt' is something I might need extensive tutoring on when you arrive.

The questions would absolutely come, and probably in full force, and most likely in person ... that is, if Rey didn't find herself completely overwhelmed, which might happen, too.

Bet you're a fast learner, too ;) How about you just head on out to the barge after dinner? That way we won't bother nobody.

Of course, there was also the fact that Alanna might arrive early enough to join in on dinner, she often did.

With the right teacher, I could be, and the right motivation.

No doubt, Alanna would find that out for herself. After all, the initial message hadn't really left anything up for debate, Rey knew (mostly) what she was getting into by accepting.

She was, in fact, on base in time to join in with dinner, dropping herself into the seat across from Rey as if she belonged there -and truth be told, no one ever told her she didn't, most of them were happy to have her- grinning and setting her tray down, it didn't hold much, most of what she ate was just for the flavor, "Well would you look at that, guess you were right about seeing me."

Alanna wasn't a permanent fixture on base, but everybody knew her. So, there was no shortage of friendly greetings well before she sat down with Rey - Rey, who was attempting to keep from appearing too eager, and probably failing miserably. "I had no doubt about it", she answered, her smile widening just so. "I'm so pleased to see you - you're looking well."

She smiled, "Thanks. Sunburn's all better and everything." She replied. Not many knew what she was, but that statement was innocuous enough that no one would question it, really.

"You don't look half bad yourself." She added, one brow arching as she tore a roll in half to let it cool a little.

It certainly didn't sound like an obvious code for anything - and even if they were in the habit of sharing secrets, they probably wouldn't do it where people could hear. So, to anyone that might happen to overhear, it wasn't anything to bat an eyelash about.

"Thank you", Rey replied, carefully considering her drink before reaching for it. "I've begun a pretty strict training regimen - perhaps it's having an effect already."

Not that she wasn't strong after a lifetime of hard work, just that ... maybe it was finally starting to show a bit more obviously.

"I think it might be." She replied, smiling more broadly, "It's definitely something." Rey had filled out some since the first time Alanna had met her, but that didn't surprise her much, for as shoestring as most of the Resistance's budget was, the food was always good, though she figured that was what happened when it was actual food and not out of a fabricator.

Well. Now, there was no taming the grin that quickly spread across Rey's face, nor the way her cheeks flushed a pleasant pink. Living a life not constantly on the verge of starvation has really done her good. "I'm flattered that you've noticed."

"I noticed on our last job." She said, "But then things got busy and I didn't mention it."

A smile of her own followed, finally nibbling at that roll, "So how's your training going? Learning anything interesting?"

"That it did", Rey chuckled, nodding her agreement. "Something always seems to get in the way right when you don't want it to." Which is perhaps a not so subtle hint that maybe she would have liked having the time in which to say some things.

But today was a new day, and some of their messages have already hinted at some of those unsaid things.

"I've learned a lot, actually, so much to do with trusting my instincts. And soon, I'll start to learn how to really bend and wield the Force, too."

"Always the way it goes." She replied to the first, actually listening intently to the answer, nodding once more as she dipped her roll into her stew, "Sounds like you're learning at a nice steady pace, not too rushed, that's always a good thing."
