![]() "You and I will never be a great love story. And that's okay! Let's see what kind of story we'll be." A meme for the small, subtle attractions, pull between persons, enjoying each other's company, long looks across crowded rooms, "what ifs," subdued acknowledgements, and never-becoming-what-could-be-s. Or perhaps, more tragically, never-realizing-what's-there-s. After all, not every love story is a romance. ![]() — character name, info, prefs, etc. |

Adult Barry looks back on this now and re-imagines this in his head. Had it been anyone else, he'd be seen as a burden. In his book, Joe did right by him and he couldn't have asked for a better father figure to raise him. So by default, the flash always thinks he's a burden to some. Which is why he's so worried that the older man is pushing them away. It also doesn't help feeling that he wasn't contributing to their group. Cisco is always making new gadgets and suits for him, Barry doesn't think he does anything for the three of them accept complicate their lives for having met him. You have no idea how many times Barry has entertained the idea that maybe if it hadn't been for him, they wouldn't be in this mess to begin with. That they would be better off without him.
But Wells made a compelling argument, so it wasn't hard at all to be convincing enough. When those glasses fell away from Wells' face, Barry couldn't help but let his eyes linger a bit on the Beautiful frame of the doctor's face. He wasn't artistic but he can just imagine it would make a wonderful portrait to any artists collection. Barry pointedly stares into Harrison's eyes, asking- )
Are you sure? I mean, Cisco can go. I still have things to test here from the robbery at sullivan's.
( When it came to science and work, he didn't like speeding up the process with his powers. Only when it was necessary or if he had to crunch time to deal with. Besides, it only made sense that he stay behind to do this. Will give him quality time with Wells and no use in going out and going home without taking his work with him afterwards because the captain needed him early the next morning. )

Cisco takes his leave with a promise to check in later, leaving them alone for the night.
Harry turns back to his work, setting a few more programs to work before watching Barry.] You're driving yourself too hard.

Nodding, he agrees with the other. Taking Cisco's seat next to wells, Barry wheels himself to the table behind him that had his little carry bag of science instruments then he wheeled back sitting next to his mentor. Opening up his forensic kit, Barry looks at Harrison wells. )
An occupational hazard. I'm used to it to be completely honest. Although, I could say the same thing to you. I know it's because you're trying to get back home and all but when was the last time you had some fun of your own? And your answer better not be science related.

The question gets a faintly arched brow as he removes his glasses to rub at the bridge of his nose.] One I'm used to as well. One that I was regularly accused of by my daughter.
I'm here to work. To help you and Ramon as much as I can while I'm here. [While he wasn't entirely sure that he wanted to go back, he still had to find a way to reach his daughter.]

I didn't know you had a daughter.
( But let's be honest here. Wells was sugarcoating things. They both knew he didn't want to be here. Barry knew it, knew that this wasn't his earth's wells because Eobard killed him the poor dude didn't even have a chance. But just because he hears the truth doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't hurt. Pausing mid-cleaning, Barry continued to stare at his kit because he knew that if he turned to look at the other .. He'd see right through him. His voice subtly faltering as he commented- )
But that's not entirely true, is it? You don't even want to be here. I understand that you don't belong here but I feel like you're just biding your time.

I came here to get her back Barry. If I didn't want to be here, I wouldn't be.
Why does it matter to you? To Ramon? How can you even look at me and see anyone but Thawne and his crimes?
no subject
Wh- ..When were you going to tell us about this?
( Bar knew that if they wanted to continue working with one another, they needed some form of trust. Even if the man shares the same face as his mother's killer, he was doing his best to look beyond that to an extent. The bewildered glances he sometimes gives the other when he thinks he's not looking ... Well, nobody really has a right to blame him. So regardless of the casual glances and unspoken fears Barry has, that had never stopped him from trusting Harrison wells was a good man. And not Eobard Thawne. )
So what, nothing we do here matters to you? Is that what you're saying?
( Barry moves to shut his case and clean his hands with a moist towelette. )
Because I'm adult enough to look beyond all that. True, he might have worn your face but it's like you said. You're Harrison Wells. He never was. You can't even imagine the pain he's put me through, you can't admonish me for that. I may physically heal fast because of my powers but psychologically .. It's going to take time and if you're expecting quick results ... It's just not going to happen. So if you can't accept that ..
( Burdened, Barry shakes his head in disappointment. Looking away. )
