It's a coffee shop. You're a hot barista, or just visiting because of the hot barista. It's a hot summer day, so why not go for a Grande Special Deluxe Western Style Low Sugar Peppermint Macchiato? Or just a simple pumpkin spice latte that is, for the sake of convenience, available all year round.?Either way, this is a setting-based meme, so take it from here however you please!

[ blake just shakes her head slightly, as if she can't quite believe ruby but also. she totally can. this girl is so ridiculous. ]

Okay so, grab the cup. You can write a name on it if you want to be authentic.

[she nods as she listens to Blake's instructions, then grabs a cup and marker and does so with gusto. she writes her name with a flourish, with careful detail and consideration that no other actual barista has ever employed in their name-writing before.]

[ blake notices that and almost wants to laugh. ruby would not last a day here. ]

Perfect. So, do you remember what I did?

Ruby nods some more, placing the cup underneath the spout... then just starts pressing a bunch of random buttons on the coffee...machine...console...thing.]

[ blake flashes her coworkers an apologetic look. thank god it's so dead right now or else this would be a bigger problem.

[Ruby kind of visibly deflates at the comment, but she's looking more embarrassed than sad. at least she can take solace in the fact that this didn't happen during, like, rush hour or something. or that, you know, the fact that she doesn't actually work here.]

[ she notices ruby's mood change, and blake just sighs. ]

Don't worry about it. This is actually the most interesting thing that has happened all day, Ruby.

I didn't cost you, like, thousands of Lien worth of equipment, did I?

[because she'd be devastated about 1) doing that and probably ruining this shop forever, and 2) trying to figure out how she's going to be able to afford paying all that back when she's only fifteen and doesn't even have a part-time job.

also apparently that's the currency in Vale and I guess I just missed that entirely while I was watching, I only found out because I had to google since I didn't know if "dollars" would be a word they'd use.]

[Blake's words put Ruby at ease, and her frown of embarrassment turns into a small smile. she still feels bad, but... it's nice to have a friend in the process, at least.
