After simultaneously finishing his Masters of Business Administration and doing a year's internship, Arthur began to chair various subsidiaries of his father's companies. Despite appearances of having a stick up his ass has had a few clubbing scandals and one involving horse racing. Has won Cleo UK's eligible bachelor award once in 2009 and "enjoys" a B-list celebrity profile and his picture in the tabloids of rival media companies on a bi-monthly basis, though it increases if he's rubbing shoulders with Prince Harry. By 2010 he is executive vice president, currently valued at £500m. ]

[ Like Arthur, Philippe too was the son and heir of a particularly wealthy business owner, though one who had earned his fortunes in finance. But he was one of two born to this man, the younger twin of his brother Louis. The father send young Philippe to live out in the country with relatives when he was young, not wishing to have the brothers tear each other apart over who would inherit the empire. However, when Louis Sr. passed away, young Louis inherited the company and used his money to frame Philippe for a crime he did not commit. Forced to live in exile for many years, Philippe only returned when the scandal had been uncovered by friends of his mother's. With Louis in jail, Philippe took over management of the company.

That being said, Philippe was no way near as experienced, as confident, or as social as Mr. Pendragon was. So after being invited to an exclusive club where the young centi-millionaire would be, Philippe had seriously considered declining. His English wasn't perfect, and he was pretty sure he sounded like some sort of caricature of a Frenchman when he tried to speak in English. Still, there weren't many young people in executive positions these days, especially for large companies, and Philippe did so wish to meet him.

So he accepted the invite, and showed up in conservative clothing that definitely didn't match the atmosphere of the club, and kept his eyes on the floor all the way up to the bar. Upon scanning the vicinity, Philippe finds he can't locate the Englishman, and allows his shoulders to slump slightly.

Just as he turns to order a drink, he spots Arthur just a few seats away from him, and he bolts up, straightening out his tie, (yes he seriously wore a tie to a club), and walks over to him. ]

He didn’t mean to do it, of course. But the paramedics could not save her, and it was the unfortunate manslaughter of his birth that lead to his father, Tywin, and older sister, Cersei, resenting him for the rest of his life. Of course, this family coolness was not the only hardship Tyrion would face, given he was born with achondroplasia, a genetic disorder causing dwarfism, meaning Tyrion has never grown any taller than his current 4’5”.

Despite this disadvantage, Tyrion also had the privilege of his father’s money and power. While that didn’t stop the name-calling, in school and beyond, it did merit him a way to fight or work around prejudice. A smart man, Tyrion maintained fantastic grades in a fruitless effort to please his father, which gained him about as much respect in high school as dwarfism did. At first he found refuge from bullying in the escapism of books and films (having a soft spot for Monty Python, Douglas Adams, and Oscar Wilde) but as he grew out of his shyness discovered that his scathing wit and natural charisma could win him popularity.

At Oxford, he studied a Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE), and went on to do his PhD in the same at York, where he wrote an 80K Philosophy thesis titled ‘The role of emotion in moral agency: some meta-ethical issues in the moral psychology of emotion’. It was about as full of shit as you might expect.

Nearing the age of thirty Tyrion realised that despite pursuing a politics/economic background, he was going to inherit his father’s business approximately never, his dwarfism was still the subject of ridicule in the papers and therefore he had little chance in politics himself, he’d missed the changing of the guard while still at college, and he’d essentially wasted the last eight years of his life. This brought about a significant period of boozing, whoring, and general mid-life-crisising until being offered a minor tv role that required a “little person”. This was his surprise big break and he was cast as a regular in a historical drama. A year later the series was a flop, but he landed a few theatre roles and before long the BBC was offering him a leading role in a gritty black political comedy titled ‘Finch’, now in its third season. In 2011, he won an Outstanding Lead Actor Emmy. The show is best known for its stunning, subtle parody of Prime Minister Robert Baratheon.

It is only recently that Tyrion has found himself involved with politics again, as his growing wealth and fame find him rubbing elbows with the same gala-and-function crowd he’d longed to be a part of as a younger man, though there are now fresh new faces that he feels it may be his duty to educate. The papers refer to him as “The Imp” and he is still known for his scathing wit - between his Twitter and his fondness for nightclubs, his publicists have an impossible time of it. ]

Robb Stark | A Song of Ice and Fire

Robb Stark is the first-born (well, in-wedlock first-born) of Eddard Stark, a wealthy businessman and politician who is (or was) renowned in the upper-crust of society for being incredibly honest and forthright in his business and political dealings. Eddard was one of those very few 'good' politicians who absolutely refused to compromise his principles and never took a bribe or favor. The man genuinely cared for his constituents, which is probably why he always managed to win re-election.

Robb grew up in wealth and privilege, spending most of his childhood either on the family estate or at private boarding schools. His large family (two younger brothers and two younger sisters, plus a half-brother and a ward by the name of Theon) meant that he was a rather social boy and despite the fact that Jon was the product of a youthful indiscretion by Eddard, he and Robb were very close (despite Catelyn Stark's evident dislike of the boy). In short, Robb was very much close to his family and despite all the time he spent away at private schools, always enjoyed coming back home to see them.

He's an intelligent young man and very popular in school, known for not only getting excellent grades, but also excelling on the sporting field. He plays soccer and rugby, dabbles in wrestling and participates in the school's fencing club. He is, in short, what everyone would want to be when they're in high school. Despite being rather friendly to most, he still manages to be withdrawn, which simply earned him a reputation as 'aloof' with the girls. Most of his attention, however, has been focused on learning what he's expected to do when he takes over the family business empire from his father. Which, unfortunately, might be sooner than he thinks.

Although he's only sixteen and preparing for university in a year or two, he's also trying to help his mother hold the family together after his father was murdered in a seemingly random act of violence - a mugging gone wrong say the police. His mother believes differently, but Robb is having enough trouble dealing with the fall-out and media attention, as well as his schooling. He's become much more serious, although that mask still slips up when he's with friends or family. Fortunately, his father's close friends at the company are there to help him and when Robb finally comes of age, he'll be ready to step into the position.

Or so he hopes.

Even in AUs, it's tragic to be a Stark.

It's tragic not only to bare that name, but to have that blood as well, Jon has long understood that. Ever since he can remember, he's always tried to win the approval of his step-mother, always competing with Robb to show that he too was capable of great things. Whether he had been fencing, playing with numbers or learning a complicate instrument like the piano or the violin, Jon has always strive to be better than the other young man he's come to see as his full brother. It's the closeness of his half-siblings that drives him to stay, that keeps him smiling when he finally comes to term that he's never going to please Lady Catelyn like his brothers and sisters are able to.

When that realization had struck, he had tried to search for his real mother, but his father had been careful enough to hide her, or others in his circle of friends with a lesser honor had paid well to keep her silent. If he's to believe that system, he was born out of a cabbage patch and it's his striking resemblance to his father, and his little sister Arya that consoles Jon and reassures him that he's truly a Stark, even if he wears his mother's family name. A name far too common to help him in his search for the woman that gave birth to him, as if his father had planned it all.

It's, of course, without surprised that he is sent to military school when his father chooses to follow his great friend Robert Baratheon in his political adventure in running to rule the country again. Jon first thought that he'd been punished for simply being alive, but military school turned out to be more than he expected. His uncle has been serving there for years now and with the right incentives, Jon has quickly climbed the ranks and has gained the favor and attention of the Commander. Many of his friends there believe that he's destined to great things, even despite his young age.

It's the first time he's come home since their father's funeral, and his family's driver is quick to confirm his suspicions: Lady Catelyn is absent for the week, business has called her away from the main estate. Jon can't help but smile at that, he's never asked for the time off, but Commander Mormont had been strangely insistent and now he knows the Old Bear has done him a kindness. He drops his duffel bag as he walks in the mansion and looks around with a soft smile: no matter the time he spends away, Winterfell Estate will always be his home. He looks down as he feels a rough tongue lick at his left hand and he smiles before kneeling down in front of his Husky dog.

"Lady Stark must truly be away for you to be in the house, Ghost" he says with a chuckle, his hand ruffling the white thick fur around his neck.

Mary Lennox | The Secret Garden

He did not order lunch at the restaurant under the barbershop when John did. After all, he didn't eat when he worked. He looked up at the shop. Seemed run-down, unused, but a neon light informed him it was open. He abandoned John at the shop and stepped up the stairs. Creaky, unvarnished, also barely used. Used maybe six or seven dozen times in the last few months, but nothing prior for at least ten years.

My ancestors had been for many years counsellors and syndics; and my father had filled several public situations with honour and reputation. He was respected by all who knew him for his integrity and indefatigable attention to public business." His father married later in life to the daughter of an old business partner and friend, whom he had respected greatly and intensely. Before they had married, however, his father gradually relinquished all his public offices and, together, he and his wife became nomads. It was in Naples, Italy that Victor was born and for several years he was an only child before his parents adopted Elizabeth Lavenza. Victor looked upon his adopted sister with a passionate pride and delight. Shortly after the birth of his younger brother, his family took upon a campagne on Belrive. His childhood was full of love and happiness, with his constant companion Elizabeth and his best friend Henry Clerval (the son of a local merchant).

When he was thirteen, Victor stumbled upon the works of Cornelius Agrippa and soon became utterly enraptured in natural philosophy. Agrippa, Paracelsus, and Albertus Magnus soon became "lords of [his] imagination", and longs to discover the "elixir of life". Although at times he could have a violent temper, and his passions "vehement", he was able to turn his interests not to childly pursuits but to knowledge and study. However, his interest in the sciences is dashed when, after a violent and terrible thunderstorm at the age of fifteen, he finds a tree completely destroyed by a bolt of lightning. His mother dies of cancer when Victor is seventeen, and, on her deathbed, she tells Elizabeth and Victor that she hopes that one day they will get married. Victor shortly leaves for the University of Ingolstadt, wherein, he rediscovers his love of science, immersing himself in ancient and modern philosophy, renewing his pursuits on finding an "elixir of life".

Taking a two-year leave of absence from the university, he does, in fact, find one. However, it is with grave consequences. After assembling together body parts from the various recently dead, he creates life, though, after gazing upon his Creature, he runs away in fright from the sheer horror and ugliness of it. Eventually, he regains his health and continues on with life, but not his studies. Soon thereafter, however, his youngest brother, William, is murdered and, though Victor spots his Creature at the scene of the crime and the Creature is in fact responsible, Justine, the family's servant, is tried and executed for the murder. In an attempt to raise his spirits, Henry takes Victor sightseeing and traveling around the United Kingdom and the east coast of the United States. Finally confronting Victor, the Creature begs of him to create a "female companion" for him. Victor agrees, but he is half-way through the process when he realises the consequences of such a thing and destroys it. Enraged, the Creature murders Henry in Scotland. Returning home, Victor marries Elizabeth, but, on their wedding night, she is murdered by the Creature. Victor's father dies from the grief soon after.

Currently, Victor is tracking down and chasing after his Creature, intending to rid the world of the evil.

Harker made his way down the street, nervously checking his watch. Then the sky. Assuming he was able to reach the station in time, and the train was not delayed, he would still be cutting his return home far too close for comfort. Could he make it by cab in better time? Traffic did not seem so terrible, but that could easily change within a few blocks.

After his final return to London, he'd been reluctant to leave his house after dark. His first trip had been almost a journey back in time. Secluded in an ancient castle in the middle of the eastern European wilderness. So remote that his mobile phone was no more use than a night light and paper weight. No phone service to speak of, which was no surprise when one considered that it had no electricity either. For three months, he'd been trapped within those ancient walls. Not only denied modern comforts, but subjected to the subtle torments of his eccentric host and his three brides.

After escaping the castle and making his way back to civilization, he'd gone half mad. The nurses who cared for him thought he'd suffered some form of head trauma, given his mad ravings. It took him more than a week to recover enough to convince them who they needed to contact. And his fiancee, Mina, left at once to be at his side. But happiness was not to be had, even once they returned home, now with a troubling frequency of panic attacks and refusing to discuss events that transpired in his travels. Not only had her friend perished after some terrible illness, but something was terrorizing London. Immediately on the heels of all this, Harker received news that his mentor and superior at the law firm had passed away.

In such a state after so much tragedy and upheaval in his life, Harker was forced to remember his terrible events at the castle. Not as hallucinations and nightmares, but as cold, bitter reality. Vampires were real. And the Count had landed in London, and he had his claws in Mina. If they did not act, she would fall to the same fate as Lucy and become like those soulless women. Dodging police and breaking far more laws than a lawyer aught to, Harker and his colleagues were able to corner the Count, but he fled the city before they could kill him. So they were forced to give chase, back to Transylvania. But with the Count able to listen in on their plans through Mina, he was always a step ahead.

They were victorious, but at a cost. Not only had they lost their friend Quincey Morris in the fight, but there was no way to be rid of the horrible nightmare they'd lived through. The terrible knowledge that monsters stalked the night.

Though he'd crossed paths with only four such monsters, it was difficult to rid himself of the fear that there could be one lurking in shadows. That one so old and out of touch as Dracula was able to blend in with modern society, a younger one would have no trouble. He decided the traffic was less risky than trying to make the train and set about flagging down a cab.

[After a series of heavy blows to the faith of her followers over the past few centuries, Amaterasu has struggled to get enough praise to stay strong. Fighting demons is much harder than it used to be, as the beasts have grown much more adept at disguising their presences, and the general populace of Japan is more concerned with the struggling economy than their spiritual safety. She often pines for the more fanciful times of Nippon's youth, though she still buckles down for a good fight and takes the changes easily enough.

However she has discovered (much to her dismay) that her preferred wolf form causes more trouble than it used to. Why people aren't as fond of dogs or wolves anymore boggles her mind, but then again she's also still unhappy about how few trees there are in the city.

Adapting to life in the city is rough, but she's hidden herself as a young woman who does odd jobs for pay. Having a reputation for being good with plants, animals, and fixing things does pay off a bit. She's known for being cheerful, hardworking and friendly, if painfully honest as well as a very big eater. Though no one seems to notice her vibrant skin markings or more canine features, if they even realize she has white hair at all. After all, why would anyone notice those things if they don't have strong faith in the gods? Still, she lends an ear when someone needs it, and is as sure a friend as any. After all, she's always willing to lend a hand to help, no matter the problem.]

She attended a university in New York City, and from there went on to get a job teaching underprivileged children after searching for her birth parents with no luck whatsoever. Lately, though, she's been getting strange letters and phone calls from a "wealthy family" offering her a job in Maine. At first, she thought they may have been a prank, but now, she finds herself intrigued...]

[Slavery still exists in this modern age and Abe is destined to both end it and the vampire stranglehold in the United States. Born in a log cabin in Illinois on February 9, Abe's family soon moves to Kentucky. It is there that Abe's father comes onto the wrong side of a local vampire businessman, Jack Barts, when he can't pay back his debts. In return, the vampire takes the life of Abe's mother.

Witnessing this act, Abe becomes aware of the vampire threat and trains his mind and body to the peak of perfection in order to "kill every vampire in America". He succeeds in killing Barts, but, at his second attempt of vampire hunting, he's injured and saved by a good vampire, Henry Sturges. Henry soon becomes a close friend and mentor, training Abe to become a terrifying and fearsome vampire hunter (in short, "the vampire's boogeyman").

Studying law at the University of Chicago in Illinois, he works in Joshua Speed's store by day and hunts and destroys vampires by night.]

She's punk rock and a little hipster, she has her wild side, she likes to take cars for joyrides, particularly cars that are not hers. She smokes, she drinks, she cusses, she's not a lady by any means. She gets drunk and picks fights with people but still manages to lay low, though she still has connections with the 'group' (really a gang of sorts) she used to run with.

She hooks up with Jon Snow often and likes him more than she'll ever admit to anyone.]
